Completely new - what are these that I have?

Hello!
I am a father of two young children who are becoming increasingly interested in Beyblade, and they have a couple already, but I have no idea what they are (even after trying to look them up for over an hour).

Can you please help me identify them (and maybe give me a couple tips on just getting started with my kids, age 5 and 7):

Hello and welcome! The two beys you have are viper hydrax (the reddish one on the left) and dullahan d5 (the one on the right, and is silver and mint greenish.) They are both hasbro hypersphere beys.

Tips: Get some Takara Tomy beys (they are Japanese, don't mistake them for fakes. YOu may use this thread to help spot fakes https://worldbeyblade.org/Thread-Guide-t...-searching. Also, young toys is a korean version of the beys, they are also non-fake beys. Takara beys are more competitive mostly because of weight and some other things. That should be good for a beginner.
Thank you so much for the reply!

If you (or anyone else) reads this, would you please mind answer a few remaining questions that I have:

1) HyperSphere is part of the burst system... would I be best off just sticking to "burst" beyblades for now since they all work well against each other (or should I stay with only HyperSphere beyblades)?

2) ...

Actually, if I just get number 1 answered, I think I'll be good Smile

Thanks!

Within the burst system, there are more system. Hypersphere can also be know as GT for people who prefer takaratomy. So, far there is single layer system, dual layer system, god layer (switchstrike in hasbro), cho-z (slinkshock or turbo for hasbro), Hypersphere/GT, and the latest one, Sparking/superking (only TT releases so far, I'm not sure about the official hasbro name for it though. I think some people already know it though.)

Okay, I'm reading through the thread....

But I'm still confused on if I should dabble in all Burst systems, across more than the Burst systems (to include the Metal systems?), or just stay within the specific Hypersphere system....

Do what you want. Take it at your own speed. MFB and Plastics are different, non-compatible systems with Burst.
If you're not going to tournaments, then maybe don't get too competitive and stick with Hypersphere.

I think that you should focus on the newer systems, like sparking and GT. Most people focus on Burst since metal fight is not as popular anymore.
I don't want to start a new thread if I don't have to, but I have another question if anyone is still checking this thread:

I picked up a few Metal Fusion beyblades and have launchers but no rip cords... where can I go to find rip cords? I'm not finding much on my own.

I'd say ebay is your best bet. I've seen listings for bulk MFB ripcords on there before, there might still be some.
I'm a little unsure on launchers and ripcords.
Do these ones work with any of the Metal beyblaes:

Are these the same, or for different beyblades and not compatible with the first launchers?:

Those launchers are fakes. Designer/Brand: Unbranded. You can probably use them for your MFBs, but they wouldn't be permitted in any tournament setting, and they're liable to either break or contain lead paint. Maybe just steer clear of them. Smile

Thank you!  See, this is the trouble for someone new to the scene.  Smile

Okay, would these work:

Do these work on all Metal beyblades or just the Samurai ones?
I honestly have no idea, there's no pictures of the undersides of them. I imagine at least some of them would work.
