"Dad! We're going to meet Brent and Atticus at the park!"
"Ok, but come home in time for dinner!"
"Ok, ok we will! Lets go Celeste!"
"I'm coming! Don't rush me!" The two put their jackets on and ran out the door. The autumn air felt good against their faces. When they got to the park, they saw Brent and Atticus watching a battle. They ran over. "Hey guys!" Celeste shouted. The two of them looked up and waved.
"Hi! You should have seen this last battle! They launched, then they crashed, and one went up like this, and came down on the other one, like this! Then that one flew out of the stadium!" Atticus shouted excitedly, making crazy hand motions.
"Uh...cool. I think..." Grasshopper said. "Anyway, you'll never guess what I got today!" He pulled out a brand new beywheel.
"Wow! You're so lucky! I mean, my dads a bit beast researcher and he said, 'Wait until your birthday.' So, which one is it?"
"Raging Shredder Kerbecs. They were selling these exclusive ones in the store and when my dad saw this one, he went nuts!" Grasshopper said, pulling out a launcher and attaching Kerbecs to it. "So, who's gonna battle me!?" He shouted, looking around at all the kids in the park.
"I will!" One of them shouted back, coming over to the stadium.
"Ok. 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip! Kerbecs, go!" Kerbecs attacked the opponents beywheel, pushing it back slowly.
"Not so fast! Leone!" Leone started pushing back.
"Out of the way Kerbecs!" Kerbecs moved out of the way, sending Leone rushing forwards. "Now, turn around and hit it from behind!" Kerbecs listened perfectly and knocked Leone out of the stadium.
"Wow! You're good!" The kid said, picking up Leone and walking away.
"I know." Grasshopper said, smiling.
"No, he's right. You controlled Kerbecs really well!" Atticus said.
"Well what do you expect! I'm the son of Eli and Roxanne of the Neo-Knights!" Everyone looked at him.
"Yah, and I'm the son of Seamus, and he's the son of Ryan. We know." Brent muttered.
"Well, we should be getting home. Our dad said he didn't want us staying out to late. See you guys!" Celeste said, starting to walk away.
"Bye!"
When Brent got home, he went upstairs and went on the computer. He searched up, "Neo-Knights" and clicked on the first link he saw.
"The Neo-Knights were a beywheelz team led by Roxanne Hennigan (Roxanne Carlton). They won the city and state championships in Chicago and Illinois, but were stopped short in the national championships by the Beywheelz Blaster from Montana, who went on to place second in the world. The members of the Neo-Knights included Seamus O'Donnell, Ryan Hairston, Eli Hennigan, and Roxanne. Seamus is now a renowned Bit Beast Researcher, Ryan is a Lawyer, and Eli and Roxanne now own a restaurant. They now reside in the small town where they grew up." Brent read to himself. He remembered the stories that his dad had told him of the finals of the national championships. They had all been defeated by one amazing wheeler.
"Brent!" His mom shouted. "Come down for dinner!" Brent sighed and closed the tab. "Coming!" He shouted, going down stairs and washing his hands. "As soon as I get a beywheel of my own, I will succeed my dad and win the world championships!"

The next day, Brent met Grasshopper and Celeste at the park.
"Wheres Atticus?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen him since yesterday." Celeste said. Brent shrugged.
"So what're you guys up to?"
"I'm training with my new wheel."
"I'm helping him."
"Can I watch?"
"Sure." Grasshopper nodded, pulling out Kerbecs and his launcher. "Ready Celeste?"
"Just about!" She shouted, piling up an bunch of cans. Grasshopper closed one eye, carefully aiming.
"3, 2, 1-"
"Let it Rip!" Someone shouted.
"What!?" Kerbecs was knocked back, but Grasshopper smiled. "Cool. A battle. Kerbecs! Attack!" Kerbecs attacked the wheel.
"Theres the wheel, but where's its owner?" Celeste wondered, looking around.
"There!" Brent spotted someone hiding behind a tree.
"Come on out you coward!" Grasshopper shouted. The figure stepped out into the open. Brent had never seen him before. He was short, with wile, excited blue eyes. His blond hair was a mess and stuck up everywhere. He had a huge smile on his face.
"You're good!" Grasshopper looked at him like he was nuts.
"Uh...thanks I guess."
"I'm still gonna beat you though!" He took off. "Come on Pisces!" His beywheel followed him. "Catch me if you can!"
"I wasn't named Grasshopper for nothing. Go Kerbecs!"
"Hey! Wait for me!" Celeste shouted, starting after them. Brent shrugged and ran after them as well.
"Kerbecs! Knock him into that tree!" Kerbecs attack, sending Pisces up towards the tree.
"Nuh-uh. Pisces!" Pisces landed on a branch, then kept jumping up higher and higher. When it got to the top, it burst out of the tree, and headed towards Kerbecs. "Attack Pisces!" Pisces smashed into Kerbecs. "Yes! That did it for sure!" But Kerbecs was still rolling. "What!?"
"You really think I'll go down that easily? Then your in for a surprise buddy! Kerbecs!" Kerbecs smashed into Pisces again, and this time, its owner didn't react quickly enough. Pisces hit the tree and halted.
"Ah man. You're really good, that was a great battle!" The boy held out his hand. Grasshopper smiled and shook it.
"Thanks. By the way, whats your name?"
"My name's Sam Rainer."
"Grasshopper Hennigan."
"Your names Grasshopper?"
"Yah, my dad wanted to name me something weird." He laughed.
"Wait. Your last name is Hennigan?" Grasshopper nodded. "Then are you in any way related to-"
"Eli Hennigan? Yup, thats my dad."
"Wow! Thats amazing!" Then, Brent spoke up.
"I recognize your last name too."
"My dad's C.J. Rainer."
"C.J. Yah! Our parents battled in the City Championships!"
"Wow! Are you...Seamus' son?" Sam guessed. Brent nodded.
"What about me! My mom and dad are the same as his!" Celeste said, feeling a bit left out. Sam smiled.
"Cool. Hey, you guys wanna come over to my house?"
"Sure I guess. I have to be home for lunch though." Brent said.
"Follow me!" Sam took off. When they got there, Grasshopper almost fainted.
"What is this!? The White House!?" Sam laughed.
"My dad's the inventor of the EG system. Thats Energy Gear system. He's tricked my wheel out with it already." As they walked inside, Sam took apart his wheel, revealing a mechanical structure attached to the Spirit Axel. "When I attach the Spirit Axel to the Attack Gear, this little spring here locks into place. Then, when I launch, the mechanism automatically starts. When its charged enough, it lets loose! Each Energy Gear has a different function. Mine makes my beywheel able to jump like crazy!"
"Thats so awesome!" Celeste said, peering in at the system inside the wheel.
"Hey Sam!" A voice shouted from the kitchen.
"Hi dad! You'll never guess what! I made three new friends, and they're are related to Seamus and Eli!" Sam's dad walked into the room.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yup. My dad is Seamus, and you might know my mom. Her name is Allison. And they're the son and daughter of Eli and Roxanne."
"Thats a pure beywheelz family!" Sam's dad laughed. "Tell them I said hi ok?" They nodded.
"Dad, could I show them some of the beywheelz you've tricked out with the EG system?" Sam's dad nodded.
"Sure no problem. Just don't break any windows." Sam smiled.
"We won't!" He said, leading the three of them upstairs.
"Wow! Look at all of these!"
"Yup! Theres tons! These here speed the beywheel up, these make it jump, these make it swerve around, these increase power, and these, these are the coolest." Sam pointed to the most complicated looking of them all. "These activate a special power." He looked around at the astonished faces for a second, then continued. "I'm not sure how it works, but if you have a special bit beast, this makes them power up like a gazillion times more than usual! But of course, they're real hard to control." After they looked around and tinkered with some of the EG's, Grasshopper, Celeste, and Brent said goodbye and told Sam to meet them at the park after lunch. He said ok, and the three of them went to their homes for lunch.

"I'm home!" Brent shouted as he walked into the door of his house.
"Hi Brent! You're just in time for lunch." Allison called from the dining room. Brent sat down.
"Today I met someone named Sam. Sam Rainer. His dad's name is C.J." Seamus raised his eyebrow. "Yah, he's some inventor now. He's rich. He also said to say hi."
"Huh, what do you know. I should meet up with him again sometime." When they were done with lunch, Brent rushed off again. As he ran towards the park, he realized that it was almost thanksgiving. He liked thanksgiving. It was a time when the whole family got together and ate great food. He licked his lips just thinking about it. When he got to the park, Grasshopper, Celeste, and Atticus were there. So was Sam.
"Hey guys!" He waved. They all waved back. When he went up to them, Sam was explaining the EG system to Atticus.
"Then it will jump everywhere!"
"Wow! C-could I try?" Atticus asked. Sam nodded and handed Pisces and its launcher to Atticus. "Ok. Here we go, 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!" Atticus shouted. Pisces rolled around for a little, then the EG kicked in. Pisces began jumping around everywhere, and Atticus lost control of it. "Woah! That thing is powerful!" He shouted, concentrating and trying to control Pisces. He couldn't though, and Pisces jumped up and fell on its side. "Ah man."
"Its tough at first, but once you get used to it, its awesome!" Atticus nodded. Grasshopper frowned.
"Hey Sam, would it be ok if we battled again?" Sam looked up.
"Sure!" He smiled and ran over to a stadium. "Ready?"
"You bet! 3, 2, 1,"
"Let it Rip! Go Pisces!"
"Kerbecs!" The two clashed, and they were both knocked backwards. "Rebound and attack him again!" Kerbecs did and sent Pisces backwards. That was it. Pisces' EG was triggered and it began bouncing all over the place. It kept knocking into Kerbecs over and over again.
"Lets finish this off! Pisces!" Pisces rebounded off one of the walls and smashed into Kerbecs. The power of the EG and the momentum of being shot of the wall was enough to send Kerbecs flying high into the air. It came down and landed outside the stadium. Grasshopper picked it up.
"That was a great battle!" He smiled. Sam smiled.
"Thanks. Well I better be getting home. Bye!"
"Bye!"
"Man oh man! Did you see that E jump or whatever its called?" Atticus jumped up and down excitedly.
"The EG? Yah. Think of what I could do if Kerbecs had one of those things." Grasshopper said to himself. "No one would stand in my way."

That night, Brent had a strange dream. In his dream, he saw a strange top. Four tops actually. Then, four strange animals appeared out of them and turned into beams of energy. The beams split up and one came right at him. He shouted, then woke up. He looked around. He was in his room.
"What a dream." He muttered to himself. "6:00." He sighed and got up. When he got downstairs, his dad was on the couch watching some old tapes.
"Hey Brent. Awake already?" Brent nodded and sat down.
"What're you watching?"
"Just some old tapes." Brent started to watch.
"Hey! Thats you!"
"Yup. The good old days." They just watched for a bit.
"Dad? I had this weird dream. There were these tops. Then four animal thingys appeared out of them. They turned into beams and one came right at me."
"What did the animals look like?"
"Well one looked sort of like a lion or a panther of something. One looked like a phoenix, one looked like a dragon, and one, the one that came at me, looked like a turtle. But a weird one. It was standing on two legs." His dad raised his eyebrow. Brent looked at him. Something was up. "Is everything ok?"
"Yah. Everything's fine." They watched the tapes for a while. Brent would look at his dad sometimes, and he seemed uncertain on something. At around 10:00, he went over to Grasshopper's and Celeste's house. He rang the doorbell. Eli opened the door.
"Hi Mr. Hennigan. Are Celeste and Grasshopper home?"
"Yah, come on in. Grasshopper! Celeste! Brent is here!" There were some footsteps, what sounded like a crash, and then Grasshopper and Celeste came running down the stairs, almost barreling into Brent.
"Hi!" They said at the same time. Brent couldn't help but smile. "Well, lets stop by Atticus' house. And Sam's house too. See ya dad!"
"Bye guys!" When they got to Atticus' house, Ryan opened the door.
"Hi guys, Atticus went to the park already."
"Ok thank you!" They all ran to the park. They saw Sam and Atticus there, with Atticus launching Pisces. The EG kicked in and Pisces went jumping all over the place.
"Darn!"
"You're getting better. Keep trying!"
"Hey guys!" Celeste shouted. They walked over and watched Atticus try to control the EG. Brent looked around. Everyone was hiding something.
"Well, lets hear it." Everyone looked at him. "Come on. There's something on our minds." No one said anything for a bit, Celeste spoke.
"It was the dream I had last night. Well, not just the dream itself, but my mom and dad's reaction."
"What was your dream?" Brent asked excitedly.
"Well, there where these top things. Then these weird animals appeared out of them. They looked like-"
"A dragon, cat thingy, phoenix, and turtle?" Brent interrupted. Celeste looked at him, surprised.
"Y-yes. Then they turned into beams and the red one came right at me."
"I had that exact same dream. Except the yellow one came at me." Grasshopper said. Atticus frowned.
"Me too. My beam was white."
"And mine was blue." Brent mumbled.
"But thats not the weirdest thing. When I told my mom and dad that dream, they all looked like they were about to say something, but didn't. They looked really uneasy." Celeste looked around, everyone else was nodding. "Did you have that dream Sam?"
"No. But that does sound weird. When I get home I'll ask my dad about it."
"Well, meanwhile lets find some people to battle." Grasshopper pulled out Kerbecs and ran to the arena. Pretty soon he was battling someone. However, none of them were really in the mood to battle.
"We need to look this up." Sam spoke up. Everyone else nodded and they all went to his house. "Lets see. What should I look up? Tops with animals?"
"Sure. Sounds kinda dumb but it might give us something." Atticus said. Sam searched it up and scrolled through the results.
"Here's something." Sam began to read. "There are rumors of a different world were battles are held with spinning tops. These tops contain the same beasts as beywheelz do. These tops are called beyblades. Ok. Lets look up beyblade bit beasts." He searched that up. Then, "Here! Is this the dragon you guys saw?" Atticus shook his head. "That looks like a Drago beast. The one in the dream looked different. Older almost."
"Fine. Beyblade old bit beasts." Sam searched. Some images popped up.
"There! Thats it!" The four of them shouted at the same time. Sam opened the article with the images and read,
"Dragoon, Draciel, Driger, and Dranzer are all bit beasts that were found in beyblades owned by championship level bladers Tyson, Max, Kai, and Ray. However, they disappeared after their triumph over BEGA."
"Wow." Grasshopper breathed. "But it still doesn't explain why our parents were so reluctant about talking to us about it."
"Well...why don't we spy on them and see if we can pick up any information?" Brent smiled.
"What a dream." He muttered to himself. "6:00." He sighed and got up. When he got downstairs, his dad was on the couch watching some old tapes.

The five of them split up. Sam went with Brent since Grasshopper and Celeste were going to their house and Atticus only had one parent.
"So thats your house?" Sam asked. Brent nodded. "Its not that far away from my house."
"Mom, Dad! I'm home!" Brent shouted.
"Weren't we supposed to, oh I don't know, sneak in?" Sam whispered.
"Trust me." Brent said as they walked into the living room. "This is my new friend, Sam." He said to his parents.
"Hi Sam! You're C.J.'s some right?" Brent's dad asked.
"Yes sir." Sam smiled.
"Well its nice to meet you. Make yourself at home." Brent's mom said.
"Thank you!" The two started going upstairs. When they were at a decent distance, Brent muttered something then he said
"Bit beast thingys." much louder. They got to the top of the stairs, and Brent signaled to stop. They both crouched down to hear better.
"He's done his research." Brent's dad's voice could be heard faintly.
"Will we have to cancel our trip then?"
"No, they won't know where it is. We'll still go."
"Ok. Will we invite Sam and his family?"
"Sure! It would be fun." Brent and Sam looked at each other. They got up quietly and went into Brent's room.
"Did you hear that?"
"Information about a vacation with an important location." Brent smiled.
"Yah yah. Congrats your a poet, anyway, lets go to the park. If the others have found more information, we might be able to piece this into something!" Sam said, already getting up. Brent got up to and they both ran to the park. When they got there, they saw Atticus.
"So?" He asked.
"Something about...a vacation...and a location...having to do...with the bit beasts..." Brent panted.
"Well, luckily my dad was talking to someone on his webcam and I heard some interesting things. He said something about a valley and some sort of cave."
"A cave. Its always a cave." Grasshoppers voice said.
"Where'd you come from?" Sam cried, startled.
"We just got here. Our parents were talking about a cave too. They also said something about us being to nosy and having to many resources for our own good."
"So heres what we have. There's probably going to be a vacation, which will probably be by the location of these bit beast, which probably are in a cave near or in a valley." Sam said, frowning.
"Too many 'probablys' if you ask me." Celeste mumbled. "Does anyone know when it is?"
"Well my dad isn't in on this secret. He could probably tell me when it is." Sam said.
"Cool! Contact us when you know when it is ok?" Celeste asked. Sam nodded. The sun was setting so they all decided to go home.

"Dad?" Sam said as he walked into his house.
"Yah?"
"Well I hear something about a vacation and was wondering when it was."
"Oh so you were told already?"
"Yah...sure."
"Oh well its in three days."
"Thanks dad!" Sam ran up to his room. He attached his string to his beywheel, shoved a slip of paper in between the Spirit Shield and the Energy Core, aimed, and launched his wheel towards Brent's house. The EG kicked in and Pisces was able to bounce and hit Brent's window. Brent appeared in the window and picked up the beywheel. Opening the note, he smiled, wrote something on the back, and launched it back. Sam opened the note. You could have just looked my number up in the phone book. Sam smiled and shrugged. Brent picked up the phone and called the rest of his friends. The three days went by in no time at all.
"Man oh man this is so exciting!" Celeste said, running around as the adults packed the two cars.
"Well try not to get to excited. Its a three hour drive." Grasshopper said. Sam appeared in the doorway of his house and motioned for them to come inside.
"What?" Atticus asked. Sam opened his hands to reveal 4 EG's.
"Just in case."
"Wow!" Brent gasped. "This is amazing! Are you sure its ok with your dad?"
"Oh yah. He has billions of these things." He smiled, handing them out. Everyone looked at them for a bit then put them in their pockets.
"Come on kids!" Sam's dad called from outside.
"Coming!" They shouted, running and piling into one of the cars.
"Well I guess I have the cargo car." Eli said. Roxanne went with him. Sam, Atticus, and Celeste piled into the back and Brent and Grasshopper took the two middle seats.
"Well, we better go in the other car too." Brent's dad said, as him and Brent's mom went to the other car.
"Ok. Everyone ready?" Atticus' dad asked.
"Yah!" Everyone shouted excitedly.
"Well then we're off!" The car ride was altogether uneventful, except a few times when Celeste thought she had seen a UFO and freaked out. By the time they got there, everyone was restless.
"Oh thank you! We're finally out of that madhouse!" Grasshopper shouted, leaping out of the car.
"Get me out of here!" Atticus shouted, as he, Sam, and Celeste engaged in a push war trying to get out of the car. They all tumbled out of the car at once.
"Wow. This is a nice place!" Sam said, getting up.
"Yah! Look at that lake! And that huge...valley!" Atticus' eyes widened, but he refrained from saying any more.
"Well we better get unpacking." His dad said quickly. After they unpacked, the kids met in their room.
"So?" Brent asked.
"We can't go yet. We should wait a bit." Grasshopper said. Then, he heard something. He signaled for the rest of them to be quiet and he put his ear to the door. Everyone got up and did the same.
"-we shouldn't have brought them with." Eli said.
"Well they're to powerful to just leave at home." Brent's dad argued.
"Well what if the kids find them? We can't trust them with so much power." Atticus' dad said.
"You were." Brent's mom said.
"Drago you mean? Well I was older. And more responsible."
"How do we know they aren't responsible enough?" Roxanne questioned.
"Just wait. Please." Eli said. The kids pulled their ears from the door.
"What do you think they were talking about?" Celeste whispered.
"Well, Drago was my dad's beywheel. Do you think they're talking about-"
"Atticus, you think they have the beywheelz meant to contain those legendary beasts with them?" Brent gasped. Atticus nodded.
"Well then we need to find those wheelz and then go get the beasts." Grasshopper said firmly.
"Sure but why are they so intent on making sure we don't get them?" Brent asked.
"You heard them. They don't think you guys are ready for the power or responsibility or whatever." Sam said.
"What makes you think its us? It could be you too." Celeste said.
"No. You guys had that dream. Plus you didn't hear my dad saying anything about it or trying to keep anything from me."
"Anyway, we'll have to go one by one at different times of this vacation to try to find them." Grasshopper stood up. "I'll go first. The next chance there is, I'll look. Any suggestions on where?"
"Well its to important to be in one of their bags or something easy like that. They're probably hidden." Atticus thought out loud.
"Thanks Sherlock. Anyway, you guys distract them, I'll look. Man I love hide and seek." Grasshopper smiled.

"Mom! I'm hungry!" Celeste shouted, following the plan.
"There's food in the fridge!"
"Where's the fridge?" Her mom opened the door.
"Oh sorry. We still haven't looked around the lodge yet. Come on, lets find the fridge." When Celeste and her mom left, Sam and Atticus stood up. They waited for Brent to leave, then called for their dads. When they came out, Brent saw the room they came out of, and went to tell Grasshopper. Grasshopper went into the room they had come and started looking around. Brent stood guard. Then, Brent's mom and dad walked into the hallway.
"Hey Brent, what are you doing?"
"Oh nothing!" Brent said loudly.
"Hey we're not that old." His mom laughed.
"Oh sorry. Well, I was wondering where the bathroom was."
"Here. Let me show you." His dad led him down the hall. Uh-oh Brent thought as his mom walked into the room.
"Did we leave this window open?" He heard her ask. Brent breathed a sigh of relief.
"Here it is." His dad told him.
"Huh? Oh ok thanks." Brent ran in, washed his hands, and ran into the room where everyone was waiting. Everyone but Grasshopper was there.
"Where is he?" Sam asked. They heard a knock on the window, and looked to see a beaming Grasshopper. They opened window and four beywheelz went flying through the window.
"Wow!" Everyone gathered around them. They all marveled over the powerful looking wheelz.
"Um, hello!?" They laughed and ran over to pull him in. "Aren't they awesome?" He said, holding one in his hand. Everyone nodded.
"So when do we go to that valley thing?" Celeste asked.
"Tonight." Atticus said, looking outside at the setting sun.
"Dinner everyone!" Sam's dad called. They immediately shoved the wheelz under a bed.
"Coming!" They shouted. After eating, they all ran into their separate beds and waited. The lights went out. Celeste tried to get up, but Grasshopper put a hand up. After a few minutes, he got up. Quietly opening the window, he looked around. Then, he jumped out. Everyone else followed.
"Over there." Grasshopper whispered, pointing to the valley. "Lets go."

"That's it, huh?" Sam said, as they looked down at the huge valley. "Where do you think the cave is?" Everyone was looking around.
"Well, the incline's not that steep, we could walk down, if we're careful." Atticus looked at the slope. "I'll start down, be ready to grab on." He slowly inched down the valley. When nothing had broken off, crushed him, or sent him tumbling down the slope, then the others began to follow him down. When they reached the bottom, they all looked around.
"Now what?" Celeste asked.
"Should we split up?" Grasshopper suggested.
"No. We have no way of knowing if the other group would have found the cave." Brent said.
"Point taken. So, should we go this way?"
"Sure. Lets go." The group took the path on the right. After what seemed like hours of trudging across the dry ground, they finally found a cave.
"Well, I think this is it." Atticus said, walking inside. Then, "Woah!" Everyone rushed inside.
"What is-oh my gosh..." Celeste gasped. The cave was glowing. Four separate walls gave off bright neon colors of blue, white, red, and yellow. Strange carvings were engraved on each of the walls, depicting various patterns that resembled waves, wind, fire, and lightning. There were also engravings of a turtle, dragon, phoenix, and tiger.
"These must be the beast we're looking for." Grasshopper breathed.
"Guys, the wheelz." Sam reminded them. They all nodded, and took the wheelz out of their pockets. Immediately, the cave reacted. The beasts appeared to run and jump, then came out of the walls altogether. They ran around the cave, leaving streaks of energy in their wake. Finally, they entered the wheelz, which began to glow too. A wave of energy sent the five of them to the ground, and the ground trembled.
"Guys! We should get out of here!" Brent shouted, scrambling for the exit. Everyone else followed. Seconds after they exited it, the ground under the cave gave way, and it tumbled into a deep pit.
"Wow. That was close." Atticus panted.
"Guys. Look." Celeste squeaked. Everyone looked at their wheelz. The beasts had found their way into their Spirit Axels. "I'm to excited to sleep, lets try them out!" Everyone smiled.
"Wait!" Sam reached into his pocked and pulled out the EG's.
"Oh man, this is gonna be awesome." Grasshopper grinned, as they grabbed an EG and attached them to the Spirit Axel.
"Ok guys, 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!" The four of them launched. Then, a huge wave of power sent them flying backwards.
"So powerful!" Atticus shouted, getting up. "Dragoon!" A tornado appeared and swept the other three wheelz into the air.
"Draciel!" A wave appeared.
"Driger!" A thunderbolt.
"Dranzer!" A blast of flame. The four attacks collided, and nothing was visible. When everyone could see, the four were still rolling.
"Wow...so...powerful!" Celeste panted. "I can't do this anymore." She called back Dranzer.
"That...was amazing." Brent sighed, as Draciel leapt into his hand.
"Incredible! The power of the EG's combined with the power of the legendary beasts is like nothing anyones ever seen!" Sam said, amazed.
"Well I see why our parents might not want us to have these, but if we learn to control them, we'll be the strongest wheelers ever!" Grasshopper shouted. "We should be getting home by the way." Everyone laughed and headed for home.

"Sh!" Atticus whispered, as Grasshopper stood on his and Brent's shoulders, climbing into their room. Brent got on Atticus' shoulders and was helped into the room by Grasshopper, then the two of them helped Atticus in.
"That's everyone." Grasshopper panted, lying down on his bed. Then, they heard footsteps. Everyone slipped under their covers and closed their eyes.
"Hello?" Eli whispered, opening the door. "Oh, sorry." He said quietly. He was about to leave, when he looked towards the open window. He sighed and closed it. When they heard the door close, everyone sat up.
"I was really worried for a sec there." Sam whispered.
"I'm still worried. What if they find out?" Celeste yawned.
"Well, lets just make sure they don't." Brent said, laying down. Soon, they were all fast asleep.
"Up and at'em! Breakfast time!" Brent's dad shouted. Everyone got up and ran to the kitchen.
"Hey guys! How'd you sleep?" Sam's dad asked.
"Great!" Grasshopper said, snarfing down the bacon.
"Good. Well, we were thinking we'll go on a hike after breakfast, then you guys can go and play. But don't go by that valley. Its dangerous." The five of them looked at each other and frowned.
"Sounds good." Atticus said. After they finished breakfast, they went to their room and packed their things. They also put their beywheelz in their pockets.
"So...why can't we go to that valley thingy?" Celeste asked once they had started out on their hike.
"Its dangerous. The slopes are steep and there are wild animals that hang out around there." Her mom said.
"Well then there must be wild animals here too."
"Well, yes. But there are more in the valley." Celeste shrugged.
"My legs hurt." Sam groaned, after they had walked for about an hour.
"Mine too. Where are we going anyway?" Brent mumbled.
"The top of the mountain. The view is supposed to be great." His dad said, looking to see how close they were to the top. "We're almost there."
"I'll be the first one to the top!" Grasshopper shouted, taking off. The rest of the kids ran after him. "I did it! I w-" There was a huge explosion and Grasshopper was sent tumbling down. Atticus stopped him from rolling farther down the hill.
"What was that!?" Sam shouted, looking around.
"Theres something circling us!" Celeste cried. "Its a beywheel!"
"My beywheel to be exact!" Someone said.
"Who said that?" Brent yelled. Then, a figure jumped out of a tree. He looked about 15 or 16 years old. He had spiky, black hair with a red streak down the middle. His clothes were baggy and gray. He was smirking.
"What do you want with us?" Grasshopper questioned.
"Oh come on. Don't play dumb with me. You know what I want." They frowned. Celeste reacted first.
"You want it? Well here! Have it!" She took Dranzer out and launched it at him. He jumped and dodged, and with the swipe of his hand, his wheel chased after Dranzer.
"Ugh. Celeste! What'd you do that for? Fine. Driger!" Grasshopper launched his beywheel. Brent, Atticus and Sam did the same.
"Attack!" They shouted simultaneously. The wheels powered up and struck their opponent as one.
"Hah. Zeus!" A crackling bolt of dark lightning shot out and knocked all of their wheels back.
"Come on! Draciel!" Draciel's EG kicked in and it barreled over Zeus. One by one, everyone else's EG's kicked in. They struck Zeus again and again. Then, it was sent flying. The strange person caught it and ran away.
"So. I guess you disobeyed our orders after all." Atticus' dad said, panting.
"No! We snuck out and got them last night!" Celeste argued. Her mom and dad glared at her.
"Come on. We're going back to the lodge. And when we get there, we're going to have a long talk."
"That's everyone." Grasshopper panted, lying down on his bed. Then, they heard footsteps. Everyone slipped under their covers and closed their eyes.

"After after after! You told us after!" Celeste shouted, covering her ears.
"Ok. So you had no idea we didn't want you going there?"
"Well technically, no." Grasshopper said calmly.
"You eavesdropped on us!"
"You kept important information from us!" Back and forth. This is how it had been for about half an hour, and neither side was letting up. Atticus had been the only one who had kept quiet. He didn't want to get in more trouble than he already was. Then,
"Atticus, you haven't said anything." Atticus' dad said.
"I don't have anything to say..." Atticus looked at his parent. "Fine. I do. Now, the only reason you didn't want us to have these was because you didn't think we could handle the power, right?" No one said anything. "Exactly. And back at that mountain we clearly showed we could handle it, right?" Still nothing. "Then I see no reason why we should be in any trouble at all."
"Because you went against our orders!"
"Which were what?"
"...Well we didn't give you any directly, but you knew we didn't want you to have those wheels-"
"Because you thought we couldn't control them. And we can."
"But you didn't know if you could have!"
"We didn't know we couldn't."
"Well yes but...that's not the point. You could have gotten hurt!"
"But we didn't."
"But you could have!"
"Thats the problem with old people. They're obsessed with the past and what could've been. Thats why you'll never accept what is."
"Ha, thats pretty deep Atticus." Celeste giggled. Her mother shot her a look and she quieted down.
"Anyway, I'm done here." Atticus got up. When no objections were made, the rest of the children got up and went to their room.
"Nice!" Sam high-fived a smiling Atticus.
"Shh! Listen!" Brent whispered. The five of them put their ears to the door.
"Well, your son is definitely the lawyer you named him after." Sam's dad chuckled. "Plus, he brought up a point. If they can control those beywheels, why take them away, or get them in trouble. They're all right. Also, theres another task at hand. That person they fought." There was silence for a while. The five of them pulled away from the door, smiling. Then, their parents walked into the room.
"Fine. You can keep those wheels. But now we don't want you leaving the house. You can go outside, but don't go out of our eyesight. And you know perfectly why." They nodded.
"That guy. He was so powerful." Sam grumbled, as they walked outside. "Anyway, lets train! First, we'll do Brent vs. Celeste. Ready? 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Draciel!"
"Dranzer!" The two clashed, with neither budging. An explosion of fire and water sent both of them flying back. "Fly Dranzer!" In a burst of flames, Dranzer flew at Draciel. It then circled Draciel, barraging it with attacks from it's Attack Gear.
"Defend Draciel!" The EG kicked in, knocking Dranzer away. "Now attack!" A wall of water shot up and Dranzer became caught in it. Once the water died down, it revealed Dranzer high in the air.
"Go now Dranzer!" Dranzer dove down, gaining speed every second. It collided with Draciel, sending up a cloud of dust. When all was visible, both were rolling, but Dranzer was clearly rolling faster. Then, it's EG kicked in. That was it, Draciel skidded in the dirt a bit, then stopped.
"Darn it." Brent muttered, wiping the mud of of his wheel.
"Oh yah! Dranzer's the best!" Celeste cheered, calling it back.
"Ok. Now Grasshopper, battle Atticus ok?" The two of them nodded, holding up there launchers. "3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!" Driger charged for Dragoon and hit it without Atticus got time to react.
"Cool! Its so fast! Attack again!" Driger hit Dragoon again and again.
"Erg. Dragoon!" Dragoon, however, was more powerful than Driger, and one hit sent it flying back. Then, surrounded by a tornado, Dragoon charged. The attack did massive damage to Driger, but Grasshopper just smiled.
"Driger! Special move! Invisible Lightning Slash!" Drigers EG kicked in, and at speeds that none of them had ever seen, dug its sharp Attack Gear into Dragoon.
"No Dragoon!" It couldn't roll any longer with such a big chunk of its Energy Core gone, so it just stopped. "Dragoon!" Atticus ran over and picked it up, then let out a shout.
"What is it? Are you ok?" The rest of the gang ran over to him.
"The big gash in Dragoon...it closed up!"
"Are you saying it healed itself?"
"Yes. And no. Guys, I think the whole beywheel is alive."
"Ok. So you had no idea we didn't want you going there?"
"Well technically, no." Grasshopper said calmly.

"What?"
"Yah! Look! It just healed itself like that. No beywheel could do that!"
"You have a point...but it still seems really weird." Sam frowned.
"Come on in everybody! We're gonna start packing ok?" Sam's dad shouted.
"Coming!" They all ran into the house and began to pack. Not much was said during the packing and the long drive home. When they did get home, however, there was a lot of talking.
"Now you guys know how powerful these wheelz are correct?"
"Yes."
"And you know you need to be responsible with them correct?"
"Yes."
"And you-"
"YES!"
"We just don't want you getting hurt."
"Mom, dad. I won't." Brent muttered then, seeing nothing more would be said, he ran to the park to meet with the rest of his friends.
"I'm guessing we all got the same 'responsibility speech'." Grasshopper muttered. Everyone nodded.
"Eh, its fine, we got to keep them right?" Atticus said.
"True. Hey Sam, wanna battle?" Celeste asked. Sam nodded and pulled out Pisces.
"Ok, 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip! Pisces!" Pisces attacked Dranzer, but nothing happened. "What!? Fine then. Try this. Pisces! Activate your EG!" Pisces did so, and knocked Dranzer into the air.
"My turn! Dranzer! Burning Combustion!" Now, Celeste's EG activated, in midair. A flaming sphere surrounded it, growing larger and larger as Dranzer got closer and closer to Pisces, then, at the moment of impact, the sphere exploded, sending Pisces flying. Far.
"Woah! It went into the forest!" Brent shouted, running after it.
"Come on guys!" Grasshopper shouted. Everyone ran to the forest. When they got there, they all got on their knees and looked for Pisces. After a long time, still nothing.
"Oh Sam, I'm so sorry!" Celeste cried, looking around frantically.
"Its fine, trust me." Sam said quietly. Suddenly, they heard twigs breaking. "What...was that?" Sam whispered, looking around.
"I don't know. Everyone stay still." Grasshopper whispered. What were they expecting? A bear, puma, Jackie Chan? What they didn't expect, was a small boy. He looked about 12 and was wearing a hoodie. When he spoke, his voice sounded sad, almost lonely.
"I think I have what you're looking for." He said, holding out Pisces. Sam beamed.
"Where'd you find it!? Oh I don't care, thank you so much! I'll do anything you want!"
"Really? How about...a battle?"
"Sure! But you're going down." Sam smiled.
"I think not." The boy pulled out a strange wheel. "Libra and I will take you down."
"Libra? I've never seen a Libra wheel before." Atticus said, looking at the strange wheel.
"Cool, well, lets begin! 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip! Attack him now Pisces!"
"Block it Libra!" Libra blocked the attack beautifully.
"Urhg. Pisces!" Pisces attacked again, with no prevail. Libra didn't attack at all though, it just kept taking Pisces' attacks.
"Wait, look!" Brent shouted, pointing to Libra. "Its Attack Gear, is free spinning!" He was right. Every time Pisces attacked, Libra's Attack Gear would take the damage without hurting Libra's power.
"Ok then, block this! EG Activate!" With that, Pisces charged towards Libra, and the gears inside its EG could be heard grinding against each other.
"Libra now! Scale of Light and Protection!" A neon green shield appeared around Libra, and Pisces was stopped in its tracks. It rolled to a stop at Sam's feet.
"Wow! That was amazing battle!" Sam said, picking up Pisces.
"Thanks, I'm Akira Mitsuko."
"Sam Rainer. These are my friends, Brent, Celeste, Grasshopper, and Atticus." They all nodded and smiled. "Say, you're really good, I'm sure you cream in tournaments." Akira's expression changed from happy to sad.
"Where I come from, I can't participate in tournaments cuz no ones ever seen my Libra wheel before. All my friends ditched me because of that."
"Im sorry, but hey, we got friends in high places...parents actually. They'll see Libra's legal and make them let you participate!" This made Akira smile again.
"Thanks, you guys are the best."
"No problem, thats what friends are for. Now lets go to our house and get that wheel legalized!"
"Yah! Look! It just healed itself like that. No beywheel could do that!"

Once they sorted everything out, the six of them went to the park. When they got there, Grasshopper jumped in front of Akira.
"Hey, how about a battle!?"
"What!? Oh, I guess." Akira smiled. "Yah, sure."
"Ok. 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip! Driger!" Akira frowned.
"Driger?" The attack hit, and Libra flew up into the air. Akira smiled. "Wait for it..." Libra came down, heading for Driger. "Now! Scale of Light and Protection!" The shield formed right as contact was made. The power of Libra's fall and special move sent Driger smashing into a tree. It was still rolling, but not much.
"Driger! Invisible Lightning Slash!" Driger shot towards Libra, giving Akira no time to defend. Libra flew back, still rolling. They both charged towards each other, and everyone knew the impact would huge. Then, at the last second, Libra tipped, and it's Attack Gear dug into the ground. Being free spinning, it allowed Libra to swing around and hit Driger from behind. The momentum sent it crashing into a rock, kicking up tons of dust. When it cleared, Driger had stopped rolling. "What!?" Grasshopper gaped, staring at the dusty Driger resting against a rock. Akira smiled, calling back Libra.
"You're really good!" Atticus said, surprised.
"Heh, thanks." Akira said sheepishly. The sun was setting so they all went home. When Brent got home, he saw a new email on his computer. It was from the Beywheelz Organization. He opened it, and skimmed the page.
"Dear Brent, we would like to inform you that we will be hosting the Beywheelz World Championships. Teams of four will be required, with one captain, two members, and a sub. The city championships begin in 2 weeks, and the tournament will take place in the Beywheelz dome." Brent read aloud. He smiled. "This is gonna be awesome!" He said, clutching Draciel.

Brent woke up early the next morning and went to the park to train.
"Grasshopper, Celeste, and Akira all have special moves, so right now, I don't even compare. Lets go Draciel! 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!" Draciel charged towards a rock in the middle of the park. It hit, but bounced right off. After attacking a few more times with the same result, Draciel finally fought back. It was up against the rock, kicking up dirt. Then the EG kicked into gear. Brent's eyes flared.
"Now Draciel! Tempest Slicer!" The Draciel beast appeared and its shell began to glow. Water began to circle around the shell, then it rose, and spun towards the rock, slicing the rock. Draciel returned to a smiling Brent. "That was awesome! Lets try this again. 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!" Draciel rolled towards another rock, but was intercepted by another wheel. It was sent flying up into the air.
"Zeus!" The wheel went up into the air, following Draciel. This time it soared above it, and smashed it down into the ground.
"Draciel!" Draciel was still spinning, and it headed toward Zeus' landing spot. It hit Zeus, but it was Draciel that was sent back. "What!?"
"Attack Zeus!" Zeus charged towards Draciel.
"Lets do it now! Draciel, Tempest Slicer!" The disk of water hit Zeus head on, and slowed it down.
"Hm. You should feel honored, for you get to see my special move. Zeus! Dusk Bolt!" The Zeus beast appeared, and held its hand up. A ball of crackling shadow appeared over its head. It then swung its hands over its head, sending the sphere at Draciel. It hit, and Draciel flew into the air. It landed, charred, at Brent's feet. Zeus flew into a tree and a figure jumped down and ran away. Brent picked up Draciel, gritting his teeth.
"At least its not permanent." Brent said, examining the scorched marks. The sun had fully risen now, and Brent went to the part of the park with stadiums. Akira was there. "Hi Akira!" Akira looked up and waved. "What're you doing here?"
"I decided to practice a bit before the tournament." Brent nodded.
"Same here." Akira saw the charred Draciel and raised an eyebrow.
"What happened?" He asked.
"I just battled someone strong is all..." Brent said, uneasily. Akira nodded.
"Wanna battle?" He asked. Brent nodded, attaching Draciel to his launcher.
"Ok, 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Draciel!" Draciel charged towards Libra, but Libra turned and absorbed the attack. Brent clenched his fists. "Fine, block this! Draciel! Tempest Slicer!" The attack hit, sending Libra into the air.
"Scale of Light and Protection!" Akira used his special move just before hitting Draciel. "Yes!"
"Not so fast!" Draciel was holding back the attack with its Viper Attack Gear. "The four shells that make up the Viper Attack Gear are great at defending attacks, and can lessen the shock, no matter how powerful the opponent is."
"True, but you still took damage. Attack now Libra!"
"Draciel!" The two clashed, and were sent back into their owner's' hands. "Great battle!" Brent said.
"Thanks, you too." Akira smiled. Then, Grasshopper, Atticus, Sam, and Celeste walked up.
"I'm guessing you guys got the email." Atticus said. Akira and Brent nodded. "You know what this means?" Brent frowned. He looked around at everyone.
"Six! There are six of us, but only four people per team!" Brent said. "I never even thought of that!" He face-palmed himself. "So what're we gonna do?"
"I've thought of that. There are two things we could do. We could all try out, and two of us wouldn't make it, or the smarter choice is to have us split up. I personally think two of us should go to another tournament and the remaining four to go to this one. So now the question is...who goes where?"
"I say we have a tournament and the strongest members go on the team of four and the remaining two go on the other team." Sam said.
"But that wouldn't be fair to the two members. I say we have the first place go to one team, second to another, etc." Grasshopper said.
"Yah, I guess." Sam agreed.
"So lets do a round robin to get the rankings, and the teams."
"Ok. So lets do Sam vs. Akira first."
"Ok. 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"

"Pisces!"
"Libra!" The two clashed, and Pisces flew back. "Yes! Take this chance Libra, go!" Libra charged at the off balance Pisces, and landed attack after attack.
"Pisces! Engine Gear!" The EG kicked in, and now it as Pisces with the advantage. "Finish him!"
"Libra, Scale of Light and Protection!" Pisces' attack bounced right off. "Yes!"
"This...isn't over yet! Pisces now!" Pisces leaped into the air, and turned on its side. Its swirling Attack Gear facing Libra.
"Libra, again, Scale of Light and Protection!" Pisces came down on Libra's special move, but withstood it. It's Attack Gear chipped away at the shield, and was moving closer. Finally, the shield gave way, and exploded. Both wheels were sent high into the air. Libra came down, still rolling. Pisces fell into the dirt, motionless.
"Akira wins! So next battle is him vs. Grasshopper!" Grasshopper stepped up.
"Ok Driger. We can do this." He said, clutching Driger.
"3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Driger, attack now!" Driger weaved from side to side, sizing up Libra. Soon, he saw an opening. "Now Driger!" Driger crashed into Libra, knocking it into the air.
"Libra! Scale of-"
"Don't even try it. Driger! Engine Gear, full power!" Drigers jumping EG sent it hurtling into the air. It jumped atop Libra and sent it towards the ground.
"Im not done yet! Driger, special move, Invisible Lightning Slash!" The attack hit, and Libra hit the ground. Driger landed perfectly.
"Grasshopper wins!"
"Yes!"
"Ok, next is Celeste vs. Akira."
"I'm gonna win just like my brother!" Celeste said confidently, pulling out Dranzer.
"Akira's 1-1. This is an important battle for him." Atticus said. Brent nodded. Atticus was right. It didn't seem like it, but this battle was very important for Akira. If he won, the worst he could do is go 2-3. But if he lost, that would mean he could post a 1-4 record. Akira knew it too.
"3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Libra!" Libra began to attack relentlessly. Celeste was caught off guard. "Keep up the attack!"
"Don't let him push you around Dranzer!" Dranzer responded, jumping into the air and attacked Libra.
"I can't...I can't lose this battle! Libra! Scaling Blast!" A bright light encased Libra, then it slowly moved to Dranzer. It shook, and Dranzer began to wobble.
"I-its draining my strength!" Celeste cried. "I-I won't let this happen, Dranzer! Burning Combustion!" The attack hit, and Libra stopped rolling.
"I battled recklessly. Thats why I lost." Akira said quietly. "But, I won't make that same mistake again! Bring it on guys!"
"Ok, I'm up!" Brent said, stepping up.
"3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Draciel! Attack!" Draciel attacked, sending Libra into the air.
"Crush him Libra!" Libra fell and hit Draciel back. The two exchanged hits for awhile. Then, Brent made his move.
"Lets show them my new special move! Draciel, Tempest Slicer!" The Draciel beast appeared, and a circle of water began to spin around its shell. Draciel leaned forward, and propelled the ring towards Libra.
"Libra! Scale of Light and Protection!" The shield formed, but the water began to cut through it. "Come on Libra!" The Libra beast appeared and dissolved the water. "Yes! Libra, attack!" Libra smashed into Draciel, sending it reeling out of control, and into a rock.
"Akira wins!"
"Yes! So whos gonna battle me now?" He asked, then looked at Atticus, the only one left.
"Ok, I'm your opponent." Atticus said, stepping up.
"3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Dragoon!"
"Libra!" The two clashed, and surges of energy shot out in all directions. "Erg...I gotta hang on! Libra! Scale of Light and Protection!" The shield protected Libra from the energy blasts.
"Dragoon! Engine Gear, now!"
"What? This early?" Akira wondered. Dragoon shot at Libra with amazing speed. "Turn Libra!" Libra turned so that its Attack Gear faced Dragoon. But the sheer power of the Engine Gear sent Libra hurtling into a tree. Dragoon pinned it to the tree, and Libra was losing energy fast.
"Finish it Dragoon!"
"Just what I've been waiting for! Libra! Scaling Blast!" Libra swapped energy with Dragoon, and began to gain energy. It knocked Dragoon away, then went on the attack.
"What!? Dragoon!" The two clashed, sending out the same energy as before. Both Akira and Atticus lost their footing, and were sent flying backwards. Smoke and dust went everywhere. When it cleared, Dragoon was still rolling while Libra was not. Akira picked it up, then smiled.
"That was the best battle I've ever had. And I've made a decision. I'll join the other team, so I can experience another battle like that. I hope you guys understand." Everyone nodded.
"Ok, good luck Akira."
"Thanks guys." He said, walking away.
"Libra!" The two clashed, and Pisces flew back. "Yes! Take this chance Libra, go!" Libra charged at the off balance Pisces, and landed attack after attack.

"Well...I guess theres only five of us now..." Grasshopper said.
"Yah...well, I guess we should keep up with the battles." Brent said. Everyone nodded. "Ok...So now Atticus will be battling everyone. Grasshopper, battle him first ok?" Grasshopper nodded.
"3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Driger, go!"
"Dragoon!" The two hit, and began smashing into each other.
"Driger, jump!"
"Oh no you don't, Dragoon!" Dragoon powered up and formed a tornado. It caught Driger and threw it to the ground.
"Erg, Driger! Charge!"
"Don't you know that won't work? Dragoon!" Dragoon was able to easily smash Driger aside.
"Fine, if I can't win by power, speeds the way to go. Driger, run!" Driger took off.
"Dragoon, chase him!"
"Perfect. Keep it up Driger!" Driger kept racing around with Dragoon on his tail. "Just a little longer..."
"Sorry, thats not gonna work. Engine Gear activate!" The EG gave Dragoon just enough speed to catch up and hit Driger from behind. "Now, special move! Spiral Gale!" The Dragoon beast appeared and began to circle up into the sky. Then, it stopped, and circled down, moving faster and faster, forming a tornado. Dragoon caught Driger, and began smashing it into the walls of the tornado. Then Driger spewed out, and stopped.
"Atticus wins!"
"Darn it!" Grasshopper picked up his wheel.
"Ok, now Sam will battle Atticus."
"Wow, that was fun." Brent panted, once all the battles were over.
"Yah." Grasshopper agreed. Everyone sat down, and Brent read off the standings. Atticus, 4-1. Brent, 3-2, Grasshopper, 3-2, Celeste, 1-4, Sam, 1-4."
"So we have a tie for the last member." Celeste and Sam looked at each other. "We'll need a tie breaker." Atticus looked at both of them. Sam bit his lip, and nodded. Celeste frowned.
"Ok." They said.
"No matter what happens, no hard feelings, kay?" Celeste asked. Sam nodded.
"3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"P-Pisces attack!"
"Go Dranzer, smash him!" Dranzer overpowered Pisces and sent it flying into the air. "Whats going on!? Fight back!" Celeste shouted. Sam shook his head.
"You want a fight? Pisces! Engine Gear!" Pisces' EG kicked in, and it hit Dranzer, then began to bounce about, hitting Dranzer from all angles.
"What!?" Celeste was looking around frantically, trying to find the location of the next attack. Finally, the EG finished, and the attack ceased. Dranzer was left extremely weak. "Fine, unleash your Engine Gear!" Dranzer's EG kicked in, and it barreled through Pisces.
"Ok, Pisces, Celestial Downpour!" The Pisces beast appeared, and it summoned a rainstorm that sparkled and gleamed. "Feel the shining power of the stars, and the force of the rain, Pisces!" The attack hit, sweeping Dranzer away. When the special move subsided, Pisces was still rolling and Dranzer laying on the ground.
"I-I lost..." Celeste said quietly.
"Celeste...I'd...I'd like you to have my spot on the team. I'll go with Akira."
"But...you won, fairly."
"I know, but you're a better fit for this team than I am."
"A-are you sure?" Sam nodded. "Thanks, thanks so much!" Celeste got up, smiling.
"You're welcome. Well, I'm gonna go after Akira. See you guys around." Sam said, smiling. Everyone wished him luck.
"Well...thats it I guess." Grasshopper said.
"Yah. Well guys, we have our team." Brent said, smiling.
"Now all we need is a team name." Celeste said.
"How about..."
"Maybe..."
"Well, our parents were the Neo-Knights. How about we come up with a name like that?" Brent suggested.
"Ok, how about The Paladins?" Atticus asked.
"Whats a Paladun?" Celeste made a face.
"The paladins, sometimes known as the Twelve Peers, were the foremost warriors of Charlemagne's court, according to the literary cycle known as the Matter of France."
"Um...what?" Grasshopper said.
"Its like a knight."
"Oh! Hey thats cool!" Brent said, and they all laughed. "I say yes."
"Yah! Paladuns!"
"Paladins. And I'm in!"
"Ok. So lets sign up, Paladins, move out!" Grasshopper yelled. Everyone stared at him, a what-the-heck-was-that-you-weirdo face. "...sorry, I just always wanted to say that." Grasshopper mumbled.

With their team set, The Paladins sent out their team application, and received word that they were entered and would receive tournament information soon.
"Man, our first big tournament!" Celeste said, jumping up and down as Grasshopper got the mail.
"Its here!" He said excitedly. Celeste an over to him.
"Read it!"
"Ok ok, lets see. The tournament is in Chicago. Um...its a week from today, and if we win, we go to states, then nationals, then worlds."
"They must have taken out the city qualifiers and regionals." Eli said, peering over Grasshoppers shoulder.
"Oh yah! That means our path to the top will be easier!"
"Haha, it would be awesome if you guys won, but remember, there are strong opponents, stronger than you. We learned our lesson the hard way." He said, looking at Roxanne. She nodded.
"You kids be careful. You never know what can happen at that level of competition."
"We'll be super careful!" Celeste laughed.
"Ok, run along then, I'm sure you're friends have the same news they want to share with you. The two of them nodded, and ran to the park. Sure enough, Brent and Atticus were there.
"Hey guys! You got the same letter?" Brent shouted. The two of them nodded. "Man, this is so awesome!"
"I can't wait, I'm going to train everyday!" Grasshopper said.
"Me too! We'll pick up where our parents left off, and win it all!" Atticus said, and everyone cheered in agreement.
The days past quickly, with The Paladins training everyday, as they had promised each other. Soon, it was the day of the tournament. Brent woke up, and ran downstairs, Draciel in hand. He shoved breakfast down, threw his clothes on, and then ran upstairs. He took a deep breath.
"YO MOM! YO DAD! SHAKE A LEG, UP AND AT'EM!!!!" He heard footsteps, and the door opened.
"A simple 'good morning' would have been fine." Seamus said groggily.
"Heh, well, since your up, it doesn't matter, so lets go lets go!" Brent ran downstairs, where waffles, coffee and toast lay neatly set on the table.
"Huh, I think you might be excited about this tournament." Allison said, sitting down and eating.
"Aw come on, what are you guys? Prehistoric turtle fossils? A parked car would move faster than you!"
"Wheres he getting all of this?" Allison asked, looking at Seamus.
"Oh, those court shows."
"Those what?"
"Actually, I learned them from Chandler."
"Chandler?"
"From Friends." Brent said proudly.
"He watches Friends?"
"And the court shows." Brent reminded.
"Seamus?"
"Never mind, eat, or he might sue us." Seamus laughed. Finally, his parents finished, and Brent ran to the car. He saw Grasshopper, Celeste, and Atticus all getting in their cars.
"Hi guys!"
"Hi! You're leaving too?"
"Yup! See ya at the tournament!"
"Yah, see ya!" Soon, they were on their way. Brent was jumpy, and retold court cases and quoted Friends the whole ride there. Once they got to the arena, though, he stopped.
"Woah! Is that were I'll be battling!?"
"Yup, and thats pretty small, if you do well enough, you'll be seeing way bigger."
"Wow! Wow wow wow! Thats humongous!" Brent hopped out of the car and went to were his friends were registering.
"Isn't it huge Brent!?" Grasshopper said, gazing up at the huge arena.
"It sure is, and in this huge arena, we're gonna win it all!"

"Will all teams please report to the locker rooms." A voice said over the intercom.
"Cool! Locker rooms?" Grasshopper said as they walked into theirs. There was a bench, and a television to watch the matches. There were also a few lockers on the far wall.
"Wow, we're going to be on TV?" Celeste gulped.
"Yah! I'm gonna be famous!" Brent shouted.
"Now, the first battle will be...The Paladins vs. The Elites!"
"W-we're first?" Brent gulped.

"Driger, go!" With amazing speed, Driger raced towards the finish, hitting his opponent in the process.

"Good job sis!" Grasshopper smiled.
"Thanks! This is really fun, I can't wait to battle again!"
"I wonder if we'll see Sam and Akira here?" Brent wondered. Everyone quieted down.
"Yah. I wonder how they're doing." Atticus said.

"Dranzer, go!" Dranzer smashed into its opponent, sending it back. "Lets show them how good we are! Engine Gear activate!" Dranzer sped up, and made quick work of its opponent.
"Like brother like sister! Celeste finished this battle with the same speed as her brother! The Paladins win! That means they move on to the next round!"
"Well, lets hope we'll be the only ones who get to beat them." Grasshopper said, smiling. Everyone nodded as they walked back to the locker room.

"Well, I don't really want to battle. You can battle Grasshopper." Atticus said.
"Well, I'll let Celeste battle."
"Sure! I really want to get out there again!" Celeste said.
"Yah, well, we won, so lets stick with what works!" Grasshopper said, smiling.
"Ok, we got our order then. Good luck guys!" Brent said, they all walked out to the bench.
"First up is Grasshopper against Thomas! Ready to race? 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Driger, race for the finish!" Driger charged, and a grinding sound was heard. "Engine Gear activate!" In a burst of speed, Driger sped past its opponent and over the finish line.
"It looks like Celeste will be going next for The Paladins! Who will her opponent be? It looks like Patty from Team Ultimate Evo will be her opponent! Is everyone ready? Then lets begin the crash battle in 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Dranzer! Attack!"
"It looks like Celeste has called out Dranzer!"
"Engine Gear, activate!" The EG kicked in, and Dranzer's opponent was flung out of the stadium! Wow! All of The Paladins battles have lasted only part of a minute! They are the team to beat as they move on to the next round!" Celeste walked back to the bench and shrugged.
"I wish the battles were a bit more exciting."
"Not everyone has bit beasts, much less sacred spirits." Atticus said.
"Yah sure, its still boring though."
"Well, lets focus on the battles anyway. The semi-finals are up next."
"Lets hope that'll be challenging. Anyway, how about Brent and I battle the next rounds, so you guys get some rest."
"Ok, sounds good. Good luck guys!"

"Here it is! The semi-finals of the City Championships! It looks like Atticus will go first for The Paladins! He will be facing Earl! Lets get this race battle started in 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Dragoon! Spiral Gale!" The attack decided it.
"Wow! The Paladins keep up their impressive streak! Will Brent be able to keep it going? Lets find out! His opponent, Ray! This will be a crash battle! So here we go! 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Draciel, special m-" Before Brent could use his special move, Draciel hit its opponent, throwing it out. "Um...yay?" Brent said, shrugging.
"Wow! You saw it here! The Paladins have demolished anyone and everyone that has stood in their path! Lets see if this will be the same in the finals! They will start shortly!"
"Did you see that? What a joke!" Brent muttered, sitting down on the bench.
"Ok! The team that The Paladins will be facing in the finals are Team Sonic Wave! They too have been sweeping through the competition! This is a must see battle!"
"Cool, they must be pretty good then." Grasshopper said.
"Ok, from the other block, here they are! Lets give it up for Team Sonic Wave!" Four figures walked into the stadium.
"Wait...isn't that Akira?!" Brent asked.
"And Sam!" Celeste pointed out.
"So they're our opponents." Atticus mumbled.
"Well, at least we know this will be a good battle." Grasshopper said, nodding.
"Ok, who will each team send up for the race battle?"
"I'll go." Grasshopper said, going to the stadium. Akira looked at him and nodded. He stepped up too.
"Grasshopper and Akira! What will this battle bring? Lets see! 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Hit him Driger!" Driger hit Libra, slamming it into the wall. However, Libra rebounded back, as if the attack had done nothing. "Darn it! I forgot about that attack gear!" Grasshopper muttered. "Fine Driger, hit him from behind!" Libra was sent up into the air.
"Ok Libra, now! Scale of Light and Protection!" The special move activated, and Libra came crashing down on Driger.
"No! Driger!"
"Ok, Hit him now, Libra!" Libra began to bash into Driger, making it wobble.
"Erg. Wait, his attack gear may be free spinning, but his spirit shield isn't! Hit him on the other side!" Driger hit Libra, and slammed it into the wall, holding it their for a bit. "Now, Engine Gear, activate!" The gears ground together as it sped ahead.
"Not so fast! After him Libra!" Libra chased after Driger.
"Oh no you don't. Invisible Lightning Slash!" In an instant, Driger turned around, hit Libra, then turned back.
"Just what I wanted! Libra, Scaling Blast!" Libra began to speed up, and at the same time Driger slowed down. Libra overtook Driger and crossed the finish line.
"There you have it! Libra crossed, and Akira wins!" The crowd cheered. Grasshopper picked up Driger.
"I'm sorry." He murmured. He walked back to the bench. "Sorry guys."
"That's ok. You did well." Brent said.
"So the crash battle is up next. If there are no objections, I'll go." Atticus said.
"Sure." Brent said.

"Dragoon, attack!" Dragoon charged, but Pisces dodged. "What?"
"I've gotten better, dontcha think?" Sam laughed.
"Better isn't enough! Dragoon!" This time the attack hit, and Pisces skidded backwards.
"Well, thats ok, rebound Pisces!" Pisces did, and the two clashed furiously.
"I'm not giving in!" Atticus shouted.
"Well neither am I!"
""Engine Gear, activate!"" They shouted simultaneously.
"Dragoon! Spiral Gale!"
"Pisces! Celestial Downpour!" The crowd cheered as the two clashed, giving it all their might.
"Lets go Atticus!"
"Come on Sam!" Their teammates cheered. Both of them stared each other down, each of them refusing to give in.
"What a clash of spirits! But they can't both win!" The DJ shouted.
"That's right, but the winner will be me!" Sam shouted. "Pisces, go now!" Sam charged, trying to finish the battle with this hit.
"Risky move." Atticus said. "Dragoon!" Dragoon began to glow, and a bright flash of light temporarily blocked the battle from view. Then, everything faded in a second. Sam was covering his eyes, with Pisces at his feet. Atticus was also covering his eyes, but Dragoon was still rolling. Both of them opened their eyes. Sam frowned when he saw Pisces.
"Atticus wins! This evens the score between the two teams!" Atticus walked back to the bench.
"Wow! What happened?" Grasshopper asked.
"I-I don't know. But I felt as if Dragoon and I were one. Then it started to glow. That's all I saw."
"Well, we won, and thats what matters. Ready Brent?"
"I sure hope so." Brent said, standing up. "I sure hope so."
"I've gotten better, dontcha think?" Sam laughed.

"Here we are in the finals of this championship! Brent will be facing off against Phoebe!" Brent walked to the stadium. His competitor, a tall blond girl with long hair, maybe three years his senior, confidently strode to the arena as well.
"I'm not liking her." Brent muttered, clutching Draciel.
"Since Brent's team was victorious in the last battle, he chooses the format for this final battle."
"I do? Cool! I choose crash battle!"
"A crash battle it is. Let the finals begin! 3, 2, 1, Let it Rip!"
"Draciel!"
"Beafowl!"
"Beafowl?" Brent barely got the words in before a huge collision send waves of energy in all directions. "What the heck? How is a puny bird standing up to the power of Draciel? Whatever, when it comes to raw power, I'm where its at miss, so either get out of the way or feel my wrath!"
"Pretty big words for such a small boy. Learn your place. Beafowl!" The two clashed once more. This time, Beafowl attacked from a different angle, and it worked. Draciel was sent hurtling backwards. "By the way, raw power means next to nothing." Draciel skidded, finally recovering just barely missing rolling out of the stadium.
"Erg, ok place this! Draciel, Tempest Slicer!" The swirling disk of water rushed towards Beafowl.
"Beafowl, Divine Protection!" The Beafowl beast appeared and its feathers shot out, enveloping it. The disk dissipated on contact.
"What!?"
"It ends now! Special move, Beautiful Frenzy!" There was a flurry of colour, but nothing else could be seen. A disturbance towards the top of the sphere created a small explosion in which a wheel was ejected and fell to the floor. The colours disappeared, revealing Beafowl still rolling.
"That means..." Brent trudged over to the fallen wheel. "Yup. Mine." He picked it up and pocketed it. As he walked to the bench, he clenched his fists, replaying the final moments of the battle over and over as if it would change the outcome. "I'm sorry guys. I just ruined all chances of our dream coming true."
"Don't be like that. There are other competitions we can enter. Just a bit of traveling is all. If anything it's my fault." Grasshopper said.
"It's nobodies fault. We tried our hardest." Atticus said.
"But in the end, we fell short."
"Ok everybody, will the top two teams come to the pedestal for the awards ceremony?"
"I'm not liking her." Brent muttered, clutching Draciel.

Both teams walked up to the pedestal.
"Now, first off, we-"
"Wait a sec, I think we've kept everyone in the dark long enough. You see, we've already won a qualifier." Akira said, flashing a smile.
"Wait...what!?" Grasshopper shouted. "That-that means we get the pass to the next tournament!" The DJ looked surprised.
"Is this true?" He pressed a button on his headset, and nodded. "Akira is telling the truth. That means that The Paladins move on to the Midwest championships!" Grasshopper jumped around cheering, as Atticus, Brent, and Celeste were left speechless. The DJ walked over to them and handed each of them a card. "There are your cards, hope to see you there."
"Of course we'll be there, and we'll win the whole thing!"
"We'll be there too. And don't forget who won today." Sam said.
"Hey, don't you know that history doesn't repeat?" Celeste shot back.
"I know, we'll sweep you next time." Phoebe said, before walking off. Brent rolled his eyes.
"Lets just see about that." He mumbled.
"Ok guys, we got extremely lucky that Sonic Wave already won a qualifier. If we want to stand a chance against them, we need to train. A lot." Atticus said, matter-of-factly.
"Nah, really?" Grasshopper mumbled, sarcastically. "So who wants to battle me?"
"I will." A voice said.
"Who-!" Grasshopper dodged as a wheel flew by him. He recovered and launched Driger. "Go Driger!"
"Poseidon!"
"Poseidon?"

"Yes, Poseidon!" A bright blue beywheel rammed into Driger, knocking it into a tree.
"Recover!" Driger did, and charged at Poseidon, it's features a blur.
"So you think you're fast? Well no one is faster than Poseidon!" At those words, Poseidon jumped, and Driger was sent rolling down a hill.
"Darn it!" Grasshopper ran after it.
"Speeds no good if you don't have control." The person said, matter-of-factly. Everyone turned. He was fairly tall and lean, with bright blue eyes matching his wheel. His hair was down to his shoulders and wavy, with a sandy colour to it.
"This battle isn't over yet!" Grasshopper shouted from the bottom of the hill. The boy raised an eyebrow. "EG Activate! Now lets see who has no control!" Grasshopper charged up the hill, with Driger at his side. "Go now! Invisible Lightning Slash!" Driger sped up, until it could hardly be distinguished. As both Grasshopper and Driger neared the boy and Poseidon, their opponent disappeared. "What!?"
"Too slow. Poseidon! Special Move, Ocean's Grasp!" Four walls of water appeared around Driger, making it unable to escape. They slowly closed in on it.
"Break through, Driger!" Grasshopper shouted.
"It's a shame you can't." The boy laughed. When the water died down, it revealed he was right. Driger lay on its side, soaked in water. Grasshopper frowned and picked it up.
"You just got lucky. Next time I'll-"
"He's gone." Atticus interrupted. Grasshopper turned around.
"What!?" Atticus was right. Grasshopper sighed and crossed his arms.
"Who was that?" Celeste asked.
"His beywheel was Poseidon..." Brent mumbled.
"Wait a second...first Zeus, now Poseidon, both owners were mysterious wheelers who attacked us out of the blue, and easily defeated us-" Atticus began.
"Hey! He didn't 'easily' defeat me!" Grasshopper shouted.
"Not really the point..." Atticus frowned.
"It is weird. You think there's a connection?"
"Pretty sure. And I'm guessing there are more on the way." Atticus muttered, looking around.
"Well, its getting late, we should be getting home." Celeste said. Everyone agreed and headed home.
