Btw, free was hurt, but the instant the match was called off against his will, he himself picked up Fafnir, which basically confirms that that was a cop out to make Valt go to the finals. It’s never going to be a W because in that season itself, the beys functioned a lot more realistically, if it happened in cho-z or Gachi, then yeah free wouldn’t have ever been able to win. However, it happened in god, the one season where you need strategy over pure power. I would like to add how silly it was to see free unable to pick up Fafnir one minute, and then pick it up the next.

I think the superking ranks only apply to the manga.

Phew... ok soo i just realize that Mr.Yamato was the director for ep8 and so this ep has a quality down in animation and art direction

Did anyone realize that 2 random people are watching free match out of no where LoL . Free training scene was executed a bit weird but Still understandable what I don't like is how flat the animation when hikaru meditates but again this is not mr. Yamato episode

The battle was pretty standard for an early arc hikaru gains the first point was really unexpected And refreshing for me personally because SK always ended a 1v1 in a single round, second round I thought free was going to use Nothing break but nope free just slaps helios into the wall thus making it burst

Final verdict, well not much has happened in this episode but I enjoyed it quite a bit i hope the art direction will be better next episode overall 7/10

The episode was... alright.

What I like is that Free actually did lose a point against Hikaru since he's going against another left spinner when he has rubber, which is gonna work against him in stamina. And this is what I wanted, Free to win by his own skills when his spin stealing doesn't work. Well okay he switched modes, but still, he's actually using something of his own to win and not because his opponents goofed up royally.

The battle ends 2-1 when Free knocks Helios into the wall bursting it. At first I thought Fafnir would use a Nothing Break type move but he doesn't, maybe next time?

Oh right yeah, the training montages, they're interesting... but I swear the animation took a slight hit in quality, nothing too jarring but it feels kinda stiff. I personally don't care for this section, since there's not a lot of character growth and it's mostly just... there.

Overall, like I said, the episode is alright, nothing too amazing but it was decent for what it was.

this episode was not as bad as I anticipated..... Free is still a boss even after losing to a demon god and a rookie, Hikaru and Hyuga attempt Frees training like Meditation and Rope Swinging, Free ignores this of course (that's Free for you), Free finally sees their spirit and challenges Hikaru first, the battle begins and can I say Free's official launch is awesome, IM SERIOUS now let's get to the battles, Free didnt use his Spin Steal move of course since King Helios is Left Spin, so Free has to resort to brute strength (YES, Fafnir can attack well if done right), Hikaru and Helios withstood Fafnirs attacks, and beats Fafnir by Spin Finish, the next battle begins With Fafnir in Counter Mode and Free pretty much activates his avatar which is now my favorite Fafnir avatar and uses Mirage Claw and bursts Helios, the episode ends with the signature head tilt smile from Free (god i love this guy), i kinda wish we saw another cameo of Lane but maybe that's just me.

Overall Episode Rating: 7/10

I'm afraid you're right about that although it would make a lot more sense if he was beaten towards the end of the series as he is ranked 4 and proved to be the toughest blader to beat or so. I mean, the moment you beat Free, you are to be considered at the top and that leaves little to no room for improvement.

It probably is a loose statement but it wouldn’t change the fact that they are 2nd and 3rd, that doesn’t necessarily means they are stronger than the other legendary blader it’s just a random title like how Aiga was the champion and number one blader in s4 but was by no means the strongest. It’s not something you are supposed to dwell on.
