SO do they know shu is alive because they were smiling and all happy
The idea that they all survived the fall and the fact they survived at all is evidence Shu is still alive, or they'd be dead too.

Uhh no. There's no evidence suggesting that Shu is "disposed of" in the exact manner, and the people at Snake Pit would know that the fall isn't going to kill anyone, or else they wouldn't send another person to lead the gang out of the jungle. I think the greatest danger here would be the jungle itself, rather than the supposed fall, which makes the airplane scene really problematic since Shu is probably starving to death in the jungle. Sending a rescue team in would be a far more reasonable action than instantly leaving on a plane, because that's probably the best chance of actually finding Shu, and that's exactly the reason why they were there in the first place. Instead, Valt was just obsessed with defeating Red Eye than trying to find his friend. What were they thinking really...
Except that the reasoning stated in the episode is that "Shu must be alive. If we survived the fall, he must have as well. Something like that couldn beat Shu". That's the only notion that the show even indicates to us, so that's the one we're made to believe (though Red Eye is totally Shu imo, CoroCoro just tried to sidetrack everyone).

Cuza also says that the Snake Pit pyramid has also disappeared (I presume it's a big airship or something then), so they couldn't head back in even if they wanted to.

Valt's obsession with Red Eye is also his frustration at not being good enough to even compete with him, and thus not being able to get information on Shu's whereabouts from Red Eye because of this.

If Red Eye is Shu, then Shu somehow has improved heaps as Red Eye.
