Free winning is weird, It doesn't contribute anything to the plot and they have no reason to do it. I guess they're trying their best to be non controversial this season for the anime, but it would only be reasonably controversial is there was power scaling issues, and there was none. Maybe they're trying to force a Bell character arc since he's lost. Then he could strive to be stronger and realize that Blading isn't all about power or something. Anyway Valt's special move looks cool.

I'm particularly interested in how it would be used in a big battle. Brave Whip was just Valt moving his hands around, but vs Lain they made is so he was moving a whole sword around. If they give him another big battle, I wonder how they would change his special move to look cooler.

A main character doesn’t have to win to move the plot it can still move on if Bell lost Free winning isn’t too weird it gives us a mindset that not every main character will simply win bc of a upgrade but to be fair Bell should have won due to the fact that Belial was able to gain speed while Fafnir was slowing down so it’s a 50/50 as for Valt’s special move animation it looks ok I guess in my opinion

Yeah I know, but the thing is that whether Bell lost or not, the plot would be perfectly fine, SO there's no real reason to alter the outcome of the battle.

I think that a lot of it has to do with the fact that the cast size of DB is significantly small, potentially smaller than Sparking. They have to kind of draw out Free vs Bell in order to keep the progression stable. It would also explain why the first few episodes were very elongated and remained in the same setting.

Not even gonna lie I'm kinda starting to change my mind I think Bell should lose becuase it would make more sense becuase Bell is pretty strong but he's the main character so they need to give him a base strength and then he grows from there as I would say from the first episode he went up by 10-15% becuase it's obvious he's gotten stronger and battling Valt (Twice) really boosted up his strength level and nobody gives me "But Strike if he's supposed to be weak why did he beat Lui and Valt" Well random person I never said Bell was weak I just said his power is growing from where he's at I'd say he's the strongest Main Character (In there respective season) and I would say that Valt and Lui would probably take out the trash with Bell if they had DB beys the only reason Lui lost was becuase like Zankye said in his episode review he was going up against a bey that he barley knew about Valt lost mainly because One Valt was going up against a DB bey with a sparking bey and two watching a bey is one thing but he didn't know much about Belial at that point so Bell won cause he took both of them by surprise so I would say it would be a wise choice for TT. To sum up, what I said basically Bell should lose to Free becuase since he's the main character he's not a super-duper blader thanks to the plot he has a power limit and the only reason he beat Valt and Lui was becuase he had a DB bey and they had Sparking beys.
