Yes I know you have yet to receive your free samples.

You are still going to receive them, I had to process the orders this week as I've been extremely busy with the tour in the past few weeks.

I apologize for the delay, I just hope you can appreciate that it was only due to a lack of time on my part.

haha, no complaints, it's a free sample after all. I was just wondering what happened.
(Aug. 24, 2009  4:43 PM)heero yuy Wrote: no its not like saying all card games are the same they have diffrent rules and objectives, battling spining tops have the same objective knockout or out spin

Card games all have the same objective, which is beating your opponent. Even though the objective is the same, each card game has different mechanics in place to make it different than other games. Magic: the Gathering has land cards to summon creatures and other things of course, Yu-Gi-Oh has the tribute/syncho/fuse system as well as Magic and Trap cards, and Duel Masters (which I continue to play) employed Shields to set themselves apart.

Just because the underlying devise for play in Battle Strikers and Beyblade are the same, doesn't mean they are directly related outside of the fact they are both spinning top games.
okay i been re4ading this convo with the dude with the akira avatar, heres my 2 cents:

when pokemon came out it was on its own, and the way it was made meant it was setup to have possibly the best RPG in history, matching maybe even the legandary final fantasy franchise. it also happened to have a card game made by wizards of the coast. WotC created magic, and they were very similar games, which was good for pokemon because majic was so damn awsome as a card game. beyblade is imo related most closly to beigoma, and since that isnt so popular anymore beyblade had room to come into place. also the reason why the anime worked for it was because they made beyblades seem a gazallion times more epic than they actually were ... so people bought them. but with battle strikers you dont have the abillity to have super over epic matches because of that magnet thing, it means that they cant go firing all over the place because someone would have to be there controlling it, and that just isnt gonna work.

tempestas:ive played virtually every popular card game to coome up in the past 4 years. pokemon feels like magic, but with prize cards rather than life points and the mechanic of only having one fightable pokemon ata time. yu-gii-oh is litterally a glorified and extreamly extortionate version of top trumps, seriously. duel masters just felt absolutly dyer and i wish it on no one. VS is very magic ripped tbh, no suprise there from UDE. UFS was really cool, very easy to pickup mechanics and very fun to play.

in relevence we look at spinning top games: beyblade is litterally a commercialised beigoma, and litterally everything else juse doeesnt havve the playabillity as either.

yugioh is a pretty broken game but this is completely untrue

You skipped over the point I was making.

And Duel Masters is actually fun if people can get over the whole "it's a ripoff of Magic/YGO" mindset.
i really would have liked to try DM and it's a shame it died here because the artwork is awesome
Yes, the artwork is awesome. I currently play online. You can PM me (or anyone else for that matter) for the link to the program I use and other relevant links.

yeah but thats like saying soul calibur is good if you get over the fact that tekken is better.

and i dunno if its ever worth ripping yu-gi-oh. i'll stand by it being a rediculously over-priced lump of dog turd till im 6 feel under.

omg pm me
dual masters was a good game but IMO it just didnt change as a game like yu gi oh has
lol soul cabiler is good tho its worth playing alot ive spent over 500$ playing that and tekken

beigoma has been around since the 17th centry and there has been quite a few comericalised versions of it beyblade just happens to be the most popular one

and Tempestas card games objectives are diffrent if you look at it like that then the objective of ever game is to win >_>

and like i said way earlyer on only time will tell which top game will end up being more popular
(Aug. 24, 2009  9:56 PM)heero yuy Wrote: dual masters was a good game but IMO it just didnt change as a game like yu gi oh has

I'm not sure what you mean by "change as a game"

Quote:and Tempestas card games objectives are diffrent if you look at it like that then the objective of ever game is to win >_>

Exactly. But what sets one game apart from the next is the way the game is designed to satisfy this objective. Magic, YGO, and Duel Masters are all trading card games, and the objective of the game is to beat your opponent, but the way of going about that is different in each game because of the different elements and rules present within each game. Even though they share a universal objective, they are each unique games in their own right.
ohk if you look at how simple yu gi oh was when it 1st came out and how much its changed over the years thats what i mean dual masters was just the same it didnt realy change they added a few new types of card but all and all duel masters was a decent game i still have my deck : B

ahhhh i get you Wink but thats not what i was meaning by battle strickers and beyblades you win by doing the same thing out spining or knocking out but i guess they do it by diffrent ways is that what you mean?
battling tops have existed almost as long as humanity has

beyblade and battle strikers are two different games, one has you working against a lack of control, one has you using control to your advantage

anyone who's ever played beyblade knows how frustrating it is to watch your beyblade miss repeatedly, but now you can actually control your top and force it into the opponent, and your opponent must react accordingly. IMO it removes one of the largest "luck" factors
i get it yeah imo i think beyblades are more of a thrill cause you can never guess whats gonna happen and its just more exciteing
but ill still probley end up buying a few strikers once the bugs are worked out just to give them a chance

Duel Masters would've gotten into that if WotC didn't stop funding the game. When they imported the game from Japan, they took away from the rules like the 40 card limit and tried to change banned/restricted cards into less "broken" cards and put them back into the general populace. It was alright up until later sets when obviously broken stuff wasn't restricted/banned due to no banlists and no deck limit took a lot of skill out of deck making. I could go one for a while taking about this, so I'll stop. In summation, removing staple structural elements (40 card limit, banlists) made DM lose appeal because when more broken things came out, on top of more destruction and discard elements, people stopped having fun because only a select few of decks were playable competitively.

I mean that Battle Strikers present a new mechanic for players to achieve this with the controllable, magnetic aspect. Beyblade tried to do it with RC tops, but ultimately failed.
yeah i rember my duel masters deck it was basicly all about getting mana?was that what it was called?it was basicly the 1st starter deck but i added in alot of cards i got in boosters to get more mana

yeah i get what you mean now but i just cant see battle strikers as being as much fun as beyblades but like i said i will try it if i find it fun ill probley keep playing with them if not ill just sell them

i understand the desired fundamentalities of battle strikers ... but the magnet either doesnt work or makes the top jump and cling onto the magnet thing.
from what ive seen the magnets seem to make them lose spin faster
The magnets always work for me, in terms of controlling the top. I'll concede that them attaching to the controller happens, but we're working on a solution to that.

Not using the magnet is suicide, because you can easily be pushed into the wall and the friction will wipe you out.
hmmm now im pretty curouis to try these might orderd them depending on the price

I'm going to agree with you Brad. All you have to do is spend five minutes figuring out the best distance to keep the controller from the top. I never have problems with them anymore. These tops are quickly stealing all interest I had in MFB, sad I know but I find these much more entertaining.
I now have almost every top out right now. My only real complaint are the bases, you only have three. Ball, the Semi-flat(?) and the smaller Semi-flat.
I totally want one of those battle striker hats. Maybe we could work out a deal to buy them or something. It is advertising there product.
Eee
I'll see if I can get you one of the hats, lol
how much do battle strikers cost atm anyway?
