I have been reading some articles and comments on a few sites including Shoruken.com, IGN and Gamespot, that 2011 is a great year for fighters. If we take a look at more recent fighters and also this years or upcoming ones, we have Blazblue Continuum Shift, Tekken 6 or whatever one, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, Tekken X Street Fighter (I'm guessing this is Namcos version), Super Street Fighter IV and its arcade edition, The King Of Fighters XIII and Mortal Kombat.
Starting with Continuum Shift, it's IGN Review got 8.5. This is a great score, though it's predecossor Calamity Trigger received an outstanding 9.4. I traded in Calamity Trigger for Continuum Shift, and I was very pleased. Many comments say Calamity Trigger was an excellent game, but Continuum Shift was even better. "Repeated content isn't something that would really effect any gamer" are some comments that I have been reading.
I'm not really going to bother with Tekken, and I'm sure even though it's one of the major series of it's genre of gaming, people will rather get addicted to Street Fighter X Tekken.
Like Tekken, Street Fighter was another huge series, but Street Fighter is a lot more popular. It's a great series, and from its latest addition which was Super Street Fighter IV, it had excellent reviews. Then Super Street Fighter IV came in and received an even better score. According to SNK, The King Of Fighters XIII couldn't have a console release seeing all the additions Street Fighter was receiving. I own Super Street Fighter IV, and when I first tried it out, I found it to be a great game, but not outstanding. The only reason I thought this was due to the slower paced gameplay, though that was only opinion. I've gotten used to it, and I play it quite often. And now Capcom is making an Arcade Edition...
One of the very popular games that just recently came out was Marvel Vs Capcom 3. This is the best game that I have ever played in my life. IGN said it could have been a little better, but it's still a great game. They rated it 8.5, just like Continuum Shift. IGN was going about it's lack of modes and other minor changes such as roster, which Marvel Vs Capcom 2 had. It has many useful modes such as training and mission, and Gamespot thought it was good, unlike IGN. Just like Mortal Kombat and it's review, people thought the score was too little. A few other people thought that the games new style such as the fast gameplay and new 3D sprites didn't appeal to them. The game is still probably the fighter of the year, along with Mortal Kombat.
Mortal Kombat is also a major fighter. Though Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is a huge craze, Mortal Kombat overcame it, even with a worse score. The game looks awesome. It returns to its violent roots, and even adds a new X-Ray attack. "It represents a more mature gaming audience," say fans and reviewers. The game is awfully bloody, and it's very uncomfortable to watch breaking spines and slicing bodies in half. The game is even banned in Australia! But that is what half the fun is. The gameplay is excellent, and it's got awesome new modes. Mortal Kombat is another fantastic game, and it's a definite must buy for hardcore gamers.
The King Of Fighters XIII. I'm sure most of you haven't even heard of this, but it's a old series by SNK. Its been quite popular back in the day, and I used to always play it. The King Of Fighters XII was considered horrible to most people, and IGNs verdicts main positive view of the game was its excellent gameplay. 6. 'Passable'.
The King Of Fighters XIII is now becoming extremely popular and looks great. I suggest you to check it out on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW3pXC_6x9U
What are your thoughts on these fighters?
And keep it civil!
