A VAC ban is the most severe punishment a player can face in CS:GO. Although the system might not catch every cheaterin the game, when caught they get permanently banned. For pro players, this means that they will never again participate in any major tournament, the most important CS:GO tournaments of the year. Famous pro players in CS:GO who were banned by VAC
Simon "smn" Beck
Simon "smn" Beck was a German professional CS:GO player who was given a VAC ban in late 2014. He was part of the German team Team ALTERNATE at that time. Although few people are familiar with the name smn but his VAC ban has caused quite a stir in the CS:GO community. He wrote a post on Facebook in which he acknowledged cheating and criticized several pros.
The tweet sparked the start of a witch-hunt in which fans accused these players of cheating and looked for videos that appeared suspicious. However, while the initial outrage from the public was serious however, the situation was about to turn to the worst.
Hovik "KQLY" Tovmassian
Hovik "KQLY" KQLY, an French professional in CSGO was exiled by the VAC only hours after smn's message. Although smn was an unknown player, KQLY played with one of the most prestigious teams in CS:GO in the early days, Titan.
KQLY's ban was a huge increase in the witch-hunt. Since KQLY was among the players listed by smn, many took it as a signal that the rest of the players on the list could be cheating too. The most famous cheaters in CS: GO is an extremely well-known brand for professional players.
While KQLY admitted to using cheaters for one week, he stated that he never used cheating in a professional setting.
Nikhil "forsaken" Kumawat
When Nikhil "forsaken" Kumawat was discovered running an aimbot from his computer during the eXTREMESLAND 2018 Finals, it was not the end of his own professional career. He could have killed the entire Indian scene in CS:GO.
India was a significant growth market for CS.GO teams at the time. OpTic Gaming jumped on the chance to sign some of the most promising players India could provide, including players who had been abandoned.
However, forsaken used an aim assist. His computer's virus protection software detected the cheats during the tournament, and the administrators contacted him to verify his computer. Forsaken tried to conceal his cheating by using a humorous name for the file: "word.exe".
Forsaken was given forsaken was given a five-year ESIC ban. That means that he can not compete in any tournamentthat is sponsored by Valve or not, as a result of his VAC ban.
Vinicius "vsm" Moreira
Vinicius "vsm" Moreira is considered to be one of the future big names to be a part of the CS:GO video game in Brazil. But there's one issue that has held him back. He was just 13 when he started using cheating software to matchmaking. The account was blocked by VAC.
His professional career has been severely affected by the VAC ban. While big tournament organizers have removed his name and allowed him to participate in their events, Valve hasn't complied.
Joel "emilio" Mako
Being VAC banned is bad enough. Being banned during a game, with hundreds of fans watching is even worse.
Joel "emilio" Mako is a former Swedish pro player in CS:GO video game. He and his team competed in the Fragbite Masters in October 2014. While playing against HellRaisers, emilio suddenly disconnected from the server. Then, to everyone's delight, an automated message stating that the player had been disconnected because of a VAC ban was displayed on the screen.
Initial idea was that it was a mistake. Then it became apparent that the decision was legitimate after a while. The team was disqualified, and HellRaisers received the forfeit win. Emilio claimed that he never used cheating and tried to clear his name. Valve refused to reconsider yet again.
