All Formats: Custom Launcher Accessories Now Legal For Ranked Play

You asked and we listened! By popular demand, custom launcher accessories are now legal for ranked play across all WBO formats. With 3D printing being more mainstream than ever, we found it appropriate to open up what constitutes as a legal launcher accessory! Of course, this doesn't mean you can put anything on your launcher... please use common sense! Ultimately, if a judge finds your accessory to be disruptive, you may be asked to remove it. Our old and newly-updated ruling can be found below:

Old Legal Equipment Section Wrote:Only official Beyblade X products produced by Takara-Tomy or Hasbro can be used.

New Legal Equipment Section Wrote:Painted, decorated, modified, or entirely custom-made Grips and Accessories may be used, as well as painted or decorated Launchers. The mechanical operation and performance of the Launcher may not be directly affected in any way, and your equipment should not obstruct your opponent’s ability to launch properly in any way. If a judge determines your customized launcher, grip, or accessory alters the performance of the Launcher itself, obstructs your opponent, or poses a safety hazard, they may tell you to remove or replace the offending equipment.

Please note that custom accessories may not affect launcher internals. Any accessories found to alter the performance of equipment in any capacity are not legal.

Challonge Season 0: New Tie Breaking Procedure & Dropped Participants Clarification

In our last update, we announced Beyblade X Season 0 as the first step towards ranked Beyblade X under the WBO. After just the first weekend of events, we have already received positive feedback from participants! Thank you to those aiding us by trialing this new and exciting feature. Naturally, alongside this feedback came a few questions and concerns, hence this part of the announcement!

The first update is in regards to how we will handle tie breaking within Season 0, specifically with Swiss tournaments, going forward. To ensure complete fairness towards participants, the Swiss template has been updated to now use Buchholz, Points Difference, and Wins vs Tied Participants in that order to determine finalists.

The second update concerns dropped participants. When dropping players from Season 0 events, please use the "forfeit" function within Challonge. The forfeit feature can be found in the "manage participants" section of the bracket.

Ranked Clauses Guide: Stadium Positioning Can Now Be Swapped at Loser's Request in Deck Match Type

As part of our October 2024 Organized Play Updates, we made the following our default regarding stadium positioning:

Beyblade & Side Selection Section Wrote:Bladers will be stationed across from each other on the Left and Right sides of the BeyStadium. Which side each Blader assumes must be decided by fair means (ex. Judge’s coin flip/dice roll, or rock-paper-scissors), with the winner getting to pick their preferred side. This positioning lasts for the duration of the Match.

While we believe this to be a positive change, we also understand some organizers may want to have stadium orientation at the discretion of the previous battle's loser. That being said, Organizers will now have the ability to provide players with just that through the following Ranked Clause:

Ranked Clauses Guide Wrote:Deck Match Type Stadium Rotation Change (All Formats)

Deck Format Rules (Match Types Guide)

5. Switching Combos
A. If a replay is declined, the loser of the previous battle may choose to have the judge rotate the Stadium 180 degrees to swap sides.
B. Both bladers may then freely select a Beyblade from their deck to use in the next battle.
C. The winner of the previous battle must make their selection first, and then show that Beyblade to their opponent.
D. The loser then may select any of the Beyblades in their deck to use for the next battle.
E. Any mode changes should occur after both players have selected their Beyblades, taking place double blind if required.

X Format: Reintroduction of the WBO Watchlist

Some of you may remember that the WBO announced an official watchlist in 2021. For a while, the list was updated adequately, serving as an active resource for, well, watching how certain parts affected our various formats! However, for one reason or another, the list has not been properly updated since the release of Beyblade Burst's B-203 Ultimate Fusion DX Set over two years ago. A lot has changed since then, both for WBO and Beyblade itself. That being said, we are proud to announce the official return of the WBO Watchlist! Every month, the Organized Play team will convene to discuss the new releases. If we determine a part to be particularly overpowering or centralizing, it will be added to the watchlist and a ranked clause will be added for organizers to field test the effects of the part on the game while maintaining "ranked" status. It will take some time to clean up what is left of our old Watchlist. We ask for your patience in the matter, but in the meantime, the Watchlist can be viewed below:

Thank you to everyone for your continued support of WBO Organized Play! We appreciate any and all feedback and are always looking to improve and clarify things where possible.
I'm so glad Buchholz, Points Difference, and Wins vs Tied Participants is the default TB order <3
This news and the monthly beyblade x releases are ALWAYS the best part of a month! Thanks Staffanir!
I can do my Gearshift launcher grip now.

And a gun's laser pointer.
very glad to see the launcher rule being official. seemed like it was the growing common-sense position among judges so it’s nice to have the rules reflect that!
Really happy to see the change to the equipment rule! Thanks very much to the WBO staff for this!
