Usergroup Changes

In the midst of all these changes, we decided to remove some usergroups from the site that weren't getting much use:

  • Mentors: The Mentors' Circle forum had been fairly quiet over the past year, and ultimately it wasn't clear what role a mentor served versus other members in the community who were knowledgeable and eager to teach others. We want each of our usergroups to communicate a clear role. We're really grateful for all mentors' contributions up to this point, and of course, your Amethyst Bit remains with you. :)

  • Beywiki Editors: This was a very small group and again, the role wasn't clear. We think there's opportunity for another tier of members who contribute to the WBO in ways that most members do not, but making it something this specific meant that almost no one would ever make it in. Plus, while the wiki definitely needs editorial leadership, it's also for everyone to edit. We don't want to send the wrong message.

  • Contributors: You might notice that Mitsu and Cannon have Contributors tags now. They've both contributed to the organization in ways that "Global Moderator" doesn't come close to describing, so we went with this title for now. We've been thinking about other ways to encompass roles that our current structure doesn't facilitate, and this may be a first step in that. We'll work on hashing out the details of this soon.

As you may have noticed, everyone has a nice big usergroup tag under their avatar now! This is so nobody will ever again ask us what the username colors mean. If you don't think your correct usergroup is displaying, just send me a message.
