Tournament Report - "Eastside Beyblades - Run My Fade"

Hello! Another tournament report! Yippee!

This wasn't a WBO tournament, but data is data, and I think it's important to write the stuff down regardless of who the host is. "Run My Fade" is a weekly tournament hosted by EastSide Beyblades in Georgia. My schedule doesn't usually allow me to attend events during the week, but I had some extra time this week and decided to come down and try out some adjustments to my dinosaur deck that I've been using. Upon arrival I learned that this was a 1v1 ft5 tournament (which I probably would've known had I done some better reading up on the event) and decided that I'd test out my most experimental combo yet, alongside some others:

Beat Tyranno 9-80TP (12:10) (21:20) [Rounds W/L, Points W/L]
  • The goal with this bey was to capitalize on both the attack power and beat downs of Beat Tyranno, as well as the aggression provided by Trans Point. I think it's a bit that's very slept on and unexperimented with, so I threw my hat into the ring and gave it a shot. The other beys I brought with me and tested during casual battles were:
Roar Tyranno 5-60D
Talon Ptera 3-60C
  • From my casual testing, these two beys actually worked as intended. I previously had Roar on Hexa for a more Stamina/Defense oriented build. While this netted me positive results, the scraping from Hexa burnt out a lot of Stamina in SvS matches. It also didn't capitalize on Roar being an attack blade, slowly drifting back into the middle and risking too many close calls by the Xtreme zone against high recoil beys. Putting it on Dot allowed for more movement to use those attacks while still having more stamina than some Attack and Balance matchups. I'll be locking in Dot for my next tournament.
  • Ptera on Cyclone worked how I intended with it being so aggressive, but I'm not sure if I prefer this or Low Flat. I'll have to do a bit more testing day of to make my final decision.
Results
vs Crimson Garuda 5-70T: 6-4
vs Keel Shark 2-60LR: 5-4
vs Knight Mail 9-60UN: 6:2
vs Beat Tyranno 9-60P: 1-5
vs Beat Tyranno 7-60LR: 3-5

Beat ended up earning a healthy 21 points and losing 20, which sounds about right given my 3:2 bracket run in this double elimination tournament. Its height was the most interesting thing about the build. Since taller beys destabilize so easily, it ended up flinging itself around like a maniac whenever it made contact with the rail. However, a lot of my opponents would launch and end up back in the center, or I would try to aim where they were trying to land and it would affect the positioning to be a little more in my favor. The worst part of the destabilization was that recoil seemed to increase against other beys. Another issue that I noticed was my launch angles being mostly the same. There were a few times where I managed to avoid sniping from my opponent, but setting myself up in the same spots repeatedly led to my eventual defeat at 9th place.

Going forward I'm going to work on mixing up my launches more, as well as switching to 9-60 instead of 9-80. Believe it or not, there was only one burst loss. Praise be to Beat's downward slopes!
