The Smashing Pumpkins

Wow, that was awesome.

Also lmao I love how Corgan and Chamberlin are like the only ones really "getting into" the music. D'Arcy and James are just kinda standing around like "Yeah whatever".

Also ffff shirtless Jimmy. <33333

Two of my all time favorite songs and videos from the Pumpkins. I really loved this era of the band.
We're different era Pumpkins fans. I like Ava Adore, though--the fast-forward effect in the video is killer. These two are my favorite videos:

hahahaha the original take of the Rocket video is so ridiculously 90's that I can't handle it.

And yeah we're definitely fans of different eras. I'm in love with Adore, it's easily my favorite album by them. I really like Machina I and II a lot too, and of course, Mellon Collie. Siamese Dream is alright, there are a lot of songs on the album I like (Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm, Geek USA, Silverfuck), but overall I think the album starts to drag towards the end. Gish is kind of the same way, it starts off really strongly with I Am One and Siva, and keeps the momentum going through Bury Me but after that it sort of starts to drop off and the song writing isn't as strong. Luckily Tristessa saves the album from being too boring though. haha

What's your favorite album from the group anyway?
Been a fan since I was really little. My sister went through this stage when she was in high school where all she would listen to was them. I got into them with Mellon Collie and Adore.

Currently, my favorite album is Siamese Dream. Cherub Rock, Geek USA, Silvercarp, and Mayonaise are the best on the album by far.

My favorites are Siamese Dream and Gish. I'm not even sure I can articulate why exactly I like them best at this era--I just do. Mellon Collie is third, followed by Machina II. Pisces Iscariot is somewhere in their too. Despite their simplicity, I'm in love with Frail and Bedazzled and Hello Kitty Kat.

As a little kid, the Pumpkins terrified me. Then I heard Jellybelly for the first time and Cherub Rock, and I was like "wut" and bought Mellon Collie. I might need to give Adore a few more listens and read the lyrics too--I actually only bought it a few weeks ago.
So apparently Billy Corgan has decided to give all of the people who subscribed to the New Album Subscription Service newsletter (that would be me!) free access to all of the paid content. I just got an e-mail about it today:

Pretty sweet, just saved me $20! Glad I decided to sign up for the newsletter hahaha
So Corgan and crew announced the deets on the newest Smashing Pumpkins album today.

It's called "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope" and it will feature 44 new songs, all for free.

The concept for the record sounds really cool too:

Smashingpumpkins.com Wrote:The story of the album is based on 'The Fool's Journey', as signified in the progress of the Tarot. It is my intention to approach this by breaking down the journey of our life here into four phases as made by these different characters; the Child, the Fool, the Skeptic, and the Mystic.

The music of 'Teargarden by Kaleidyscope' harkens back to the original psychedelic roots of The Smashing Pumpkins: atmospheric, melodic, heavy, and pretty.

I already have 53 songs written for the record, so I am quite confident that I already have much of the material that I would need to undertake such an extensive project. I am very committed to seeing this album through to its completion and very, very excited about the prospect of delivering new Smashing Pumpkins music to you in a unique and exciting way.

I'm pretty amazed and excited by this. Here's hoping it turns out to be great.
