Hey, is anyone still here?

Who has finished Dream Drop Distance? And what are your thoughts? Excited for KH-1.5 HD ReMIX?
I hate how Kingdom Hearts made games on so many different consoles.. I really did want to play Dream Drop Distance Uncertain

I totally agree. I have much better things to spend $179.99 on xD
The KH series really did an impact on my wallet.

What I am glad about is that they are releasing the titles on PS3 now. I think 2.5 will consist of KH2, BBS and Re:Coded as cutscenes

I don't even have a PS3, I guess i'll have to live with my KH2.. Tired

Btw did you guys prefer the DS KH games like 358/2 and Re:coded or Birth By Sleep?
I preferred BBS's and 3D's gameplay.

As much as I would've liked Days, the gameplay was fun and the story was also excellent but the pixelated graphics sometimes killed the mood of some scenes. Recoded scenes were much better done and the gameplay was fun too.
Kingdom Hearts is so fun! I remember having the original a loooooooooooong time ago! These games are so amazing!

You know what? I love each and every game in it's own way.

Sure they sometimes change the gameplay in each game but I like the amount of variety they give us. I mean, if they had the same gameplay and customization style in each KH game I might have been bored with the series. Sure, it is not always great but trying something different and new each time - I think that is one of the features I really love about the KH series.

I agree with you 100%. I just wish it was a bit more advertised! It's a very good series, and I think it is way to under rated, more people should be playing it! It's not getting enough credit for how good it is!

Definitely. KH is one of those growing series yet it is still underrated in the gaming community because of the its crossover genre, which I think it has grown out of and become its own genre.

I mean, look at the Epic Mickey games, they were interesting at start but because of repetition ultimately lost.
I'm not sure how anyone is calling Kingdom Hearts underrated or claiming it gets minimal attention, when it is such an extremely massively profitable franchise already, and is most certainly not unknown or lacking in credit...

If they would focus on progressing the story and making more forward-moving games in the non-spinoff line, rather than repeatedly re-making the first game or retelling the first game's story, however, there would certainly be a lot less negativity surrounding it, lately.

It's just a copout at this point. 3D was fun, but they need another serious new console release, not this "LET'S RIDE THE FIRST GAME" wave.

Excuse me but I disagree otherwise.

Putting the whole games back on the PS3, the home console was probably the best choice as of now.
Nomura is obviously busy with Versus XIII (or what may be called as XV), and due to the development of that game, there would be a large time gap between 3D and KH3, which would result in many people possibly leaving the franchise itself. The HD remake is also a great chance to introduce the FM games to the west, which as most would know adds more story-wise content into the games.

With this people would be able to understand the KH series more closely and be able to connect the dots between each game. Not only that but everything in the HD collection has been updated with current models and textures so the game will be more beautiful than ever. One of the best things they have done with this HD collection is that it is not only one but three Kingdom Hearts games so we will be able to enjoy the once-multi-platform games on one console.

What they have done with 358/2 Days was pretty smart as well, just including it as rendered cutscenes. If they did the whole game over again, they would have to change the gameplay as well as generate all the cutscenes in that entire game; resulting in a lot more development time.

So I ask, would anyone really want to wait a possible 5 year gap between the current KH to KH3 when we could replay and enjoy our favourite games in HD and on one console in that gap?
I really don't care if you disagree; I gave my perspective on it. The entire KH team is not off working on some other project, and KH3 has had far, far more than enough time to've been worked on by now. The HD collections are, at best, just them re-releasing content(finally under the guise of actually just re-releasing content), and at worst, a copout/stalling mechanism.

People who fawn over every single thing they release and tout it like it's the best thing they could've ever done are precisely the problem. If sales actually responded in a logical way to them recycling content nonstop, KH would've already died or we'd be on KH12 by now.

But by exchanging opinions we should be able to come to a better conclusion than that of 'I don't care' or 'Just what I think, and my opinion isn't going to change' no?

If anyone wants KH3 now, be my guest. I want it as well, I desperately want it. I have been waiting since and have many times nearly given up on the series but I know for a fact that it isn't going to show up for a while so rather than be pessimistic and pissy about it, I'll be content to just enjoy replaying the series to get my mind fresh and ready for KH3.

And even if KH3 were in the makings right now, many would be upset as it would hold Versus off since the same team creates those games.

There is nothing wrong with people who love and enjoy the series. Some see it as an opportunity. I see it as a way to discuss the oncoming course of the series. There is also nothing wrong about people hating and critisizing the series. Some may see it as terrible or bad but I also understand where they are coming from.

These things exist, there'll always be people like this but you can't blame the problem on people who love and enjoy the series too much Yes, I love Kingdom Hearts but I am also critical of it. I do not agree it is the best series out there but it is my favourite series.

That is my perspective on it.
I'm not sure why you think you telling me your opinion, or me telling you mine, should influence either of us, honestly.

The fact is, the HD games really are little more than a stale cracker offered in absence of the main course, and the reason why is entirely irrelevant. If being realistic about how poorly it's being handled and expressing my discontent with their decisions that, at least from my point of view(which is not at all the minority to be had on it, but that too is irrelevant), fall short of something desirable and instead resemble a slap in the face makes me "pessimistic and pissy about it", then so be it.

They're factually milking old games in lieu of new content. There's no acceptable premise for that, and it certainly is a shortcoming of the fanbase to just buy into every shallow offering rather than demanding more, even in futility.

It really shouldn't influence any of us. Some opinions just can't be changed. What I truly want is an understanding. But today, all everyone's opinions really end up is in ignorance. One's opinions are ignored for another's. Instead of ignoring, we should be understanding.

I am sorry about the 'pessimistic and pissy' comment but it seems that is how you are acting about the HD remasters.

Everyone should know that unless Versus is finished and out of the way, KH3 will not be in production. So I don't really blame SE for making HD remasters. Even the director, Tetsuya Nomura knows that. He knows that fans will surely lose interest since there is a large gap between KH3D and the inevitable KH3. It is obvious that he knows how many want Kingdom Hearts. All the games have built up to this moment. But since KH3 is basically impossible to start on now, the best they can do for the fans is release HD remasters.

You may see it as milking. I did too, and I was upset like you, but now I am looking forward to it. You may not ever see it as that but I won't want to change your opinion.

I propose that we stop this pointless feud since our opinions apparently won't come to an understanding at all.
(I hope you readers enjoyed our opinions)
I think everybody can agree that they'd like to see KHIII finally released, but personally, I don't see what the problem is with them re-releasing some of the games in HD, especially if they're busy with Versus XIII like Zanzetsuken said. It's sure to be valuable for some people.

Anyways, I really enjoyed Dream Drop Distance. The story was as convoluted as it always seems to be, but I really enjoyed it nevertheless, and the combat system was super fun. Now I need to find a PSP so I can play BBS.

Thank you Kei!

Haha, that is KH for you! You should definitely get BBS. It was my second favourite in the whole series!

How does it compare to Dream Drop Distance, in your opinion?

Compared to BBS? Well Dream Drop Distance added quite a few new gameplay systems so it is pretty hard to compare.

The ability system was definitely better in BBS since you don't have to equip certain Dream Eaters to have certain abilities. The abilities you gain come from merging command panels with an item so you have to experiment with the crystals.

I found the D-Link feature (similar to Sora's Link skill) pretty much redundant since Command Styles were much stronger and appear more often. They were pretty much only useful at the beginning of the game in Proud or Critical mode. You might get a kick out of playing the Command Board game or the Disney Town games though.

DDD is much faster compared to BBS and if you really want the game to play a little bit faster, you might need to do a 600mb Data Install. The enemies aren't really that strong in BBS compared to DDD but the bosses can be quite a challenge since you are playing Solo.

Story-wise, BBS was my favourite since it explains many connections in the whole KH series.

Hoped this helped you! Any other questions?
Good news everyone.

Kingdom Hearts-1.5 HD ReMIX has been announced for NA and EU this fall!

For us Aussies, that is around September I think. I'll be expecting a trailer at E3!

Like Flowmotion? I really liked the addition of that mechanic in DDD.

That sounds interesting, although I did like the Dream Eaters!

By "DDD is much faster compared to BBS" what do you mean? Does BBS have some type of slow down if you don't do the data install?

Yeah, it seems like it would be slightly more important story-wise than DDD was.
BBS will suffer frame lag in a few spots even with the data install(though not many, and it's minor), and without it, ESPECIALLY as Aqua, things can get reaaaaaaally choppy in some areas.

BBS' Command Meld system also has you spending a lot of time either experimenting or looking at guides if you want to get the better stuff, but overall BBS is probably still my favorite entry in the series.
Especially when she does her 3rd Tier magic attacks like Firaga Burst or Raging Fire. I really liked playing as Aqua though. It was a nice change in style play.
