I was talking about this in the Great Plains Beyblade discord, and I figured I'd share it here. Some of you might have heard of a little game called Keyforge.

It's a neat little trading card game, with a bit of a twist. Each deck is algorithmically generated, and instead of buying booster packs, you buy decks. Some of these decks turn out to be better than others, for obvious reasons. In the hunt to find the best decks, players are usually saddled with a ton of chaff. Not wanting to let those decks go to waste, Fantasy Flight (and now Ghost Galaxy) have a solution for that: The Reversal Format.

The way it works is that you bring your deck to the tournament, and at each round, you hand it to your opponent. Because all the decks are "usable", they're able to encourage people to bring the absolute worst decks imaginable. No synergy, stupid card builds that don't play nice with each other, it's hilarious. It's a race to the bottom to see who can polish the shiniest turd. And I love it because it brings out so many laughs in participants.

I think we can do something similar in Beyblade. Because decks will naturally work if they're built according to existing standards, anyone with a compatible launcher (should) be able to play a Reversal tournament. Imagine an X Reversal tournament where someone shows up and hands you Arrow Wizard 4-80R, Helm Knight 3-70Q, and Sword Dran 5-60DB. How ridiculous of a match would that be? Think about the laughs that could come out of a ridiculous tournament like that. That's the goal I'm trying to set up here. This could be applied to Burst, Metal Fight, even plastic gen. As long as everyone is capable of launching the bey, it should work. I could see X Reversal formats banning left spin just to make it easier on players so they only need to bring one launcher, but that could be a judge's discretion.

So yeah. Judges? I want a Reversal Tournament. Join the silly side!
