There's this sport in Ireland called Football (its like a mixture of Rugby and Soccer) and each of the 4 provinces have a championship between the counties of that province.
The controversy is:
In the Leinster Final 2010, Meath were losing to Louth 1-10 to 0-12 points in the last minute of stoppage time. Meath had a free and kicked it towards the Louth goal but it was cleared by Louth but one of their players lost the ball and Meath kicked to the other side of the pitch where it again, was cleared but only as far as the nearest Meath player and he kicked into the small square where there was a player in there already (which is a free because you aren't allowed in the small square before the ball is kicked). Then a Meath player who had the ball went across until he was in front of the goal and kicked it but the ball was blocked but still went forward and another Meath player (Joe Sheridan) got it and fell and "threw" the ball into the goals. Just before the ball went into the net the referee, Martin Sludden, had blown the whistle for a penalty, but then seen the ball in the net. Some of the Louth players told him to talk to both umpires yet he just went to one, the one that had the goal flag and told him to raise it. After he gave a Louth player a yellow card, he blew the full time whistle and that meant Meath had won. However, some angry Louth fans ran onto the pitch and started attacking the referee. Eventually, the referee had to be escorted off the pitch by the Garda (Irish Police). Later, the GAA board said because of the rules the power to force a replay was in the Meath County Board's hands, which, they of course, declined a replay after having a meeting, it was then that it was discovered that the referee had blown for a penalty. The Louth County Board issued a statement the day after the Meath County Board's decision, that they accepted the decision and that the matter was now closed.
Final Score:
Meath 1-12 (15 points), Louth 1-10 (13 points)
These two would then play against each other in the All-Ireland Qualifiers Round 1 on the 25th of June 2011, only this time, the only thing Louth fans could complain about was their team's performance.

Meath 5-08 (23 points), Louth 2-08 (14 points)
