Join the Toronto Beyblade community for a WBBA 5G Burst Standard Format tournament at High Park on April 22nd, 2023 at 11AM. The WBBA 5G Match Type is currently in an experimental phase. We are toying with the idea of different point scoring structures and what feels best to players.

Be sure to read the WBBA 5G Match Type Format and rebound rulings outlined below before attendance.

Registration & Participant Limit Details
  • This tournament has a maximum participant limit of 24 players.
  • If you are certain you can make it, please hit the blue JOIN TOURNAMENT button at the top of this page to register confirm your spot!
  • Once 24 players have registered, you will not be able to enter the tournament.
  • As such, only users registered on the list at the top of the event page can participate in the tournament. No exceptions.
  • If you are unable to make it to the event, DO NOT hit the "Join Tournament" button. If you need to withdraw, hit the UNJOIN/LEAVE TOURNAMENT button.

Location

We'll likely be playing outside in the gazebo attached to the front of the High Park Nature Centre.

This means that if you're coming to High Park via the Bloor St W entrance, follow Colborne Lodge Dr. down until you'll see the large gazebo on the left-hand side. Check the red pin on the map image below if you're still unsure.

If we aren't in the gazebo out front or on the grass, check behind the Nature Centre as well, as there is another gazebo there.

If you have any questions about the location, time, or date, please feel free to post about it below.

Any updates to the venue location or rescheduling will be posted by me on the morning-of, at the latest. If you see nothing posted to the contrary, assume everything is continuing as outlined here.

NOTE: Public washrooms can be found just west of the Bloor St W entrance of High Park. There are no public washrooms available at the High Park Nature Centre. Do not knock on their door asking to enter. They don't like that.

WBBA 5G Match Type Format Info + KO Rules

The First Stage and the Final Stage will be played using a variation of WBBA 5G Match Type Ruleset outlined below, as well as a different definition of "Knocked-Out".

Since this is an experimental Match Type and KO definition, please review the rules for both stages here:

WBBA 5G Match Type Wrote:1. Matches are to 5 points
  • Outspin = 1 Point
  • Knock Out = 2 Points
  • Burst = 2 Points
2. Deck Construction: 5 Beyblades
  • Each player constructs a deck consisting of 5 Beyblades within 3 minutes.
  • No parts may be repeated throughout each combination. The same rules from WBO’s Deck Format for repeating parts will apply (see the "Deck Format Advanced Rulings" section in the WBO Burst Format rulebook).
  • Up to one Layer with multiple spin direction capabilities may be included in the deck (ex. Astral Spriggan). Spin direction changes for Layers with multiple spin direction capabilities are permitted. If both players want to change spin directions at the same time, the change must be made in secret.
3. Deck Sequencing & Inspection
  • Each combination will be placed into one of the five numbered slots across 1-2 deck boxes, or some other concealment and ordering method.
  • We will have some deck boxes available to borrow at the event, but please bring your own if you have one.
  • The judge will then inspect both decks to ensure they are legal.
4. Perform Battles in Sequence
  • Players perform battles following the sequence of the Beyblades in their deck box until one player scores 3 total points. This means that the Beyblades in the #1 slot will play each other, followed by #2 vs #2, and #3 vs. #3, and so forth.
5. Draws
  • If there is a draw in any battle, the battle will be replayed using the same two Beyblades. This may continue for up to two consecutive battles.
After the third consecutive draw, reference the "Consecutive Draws" ruling in the Gameplay Appendix of the WBO Burst Format Rulebook.
  • If a tenth total battle is played and a match winner has not yet been determined, reference the "Battle Limit" ruling in the Gameplay Appendix of the WBO Burst Format Rulebook. The same rule used for 3on3 will be applied for 5G.
Note: All other existing WBO Burst Format rules unrelated to the match ruleset outlined above will apply for this event.

Again, on top of this Match Type decision we will also be experimenting with the KO type involving no-penalty rebounds, specifically using the following definition of KO for this event:

Unranked Experimental Ruling: "Knocked-Out" Wrote:
A Beyblade is knocked-out when it exits the stadium and does not return. Beyblades stuck on an element of a stadium are still considered in-play.

Beyblades that bounce back into the stadium after exiting the stadium are still considered in play.

Essentially a Beyblade is KO'd when it stays out, bouncing back in means the battle continues!

Have a Beystadium or Deck Box? Bring it!

We will be bringing stadiums and some deck boxes for this event, but more are always welcome!

Any BeyStadium is fine for free play, but Burst BeyStadium Standard Types (pictured below) are particularly appreciated and will be used for tournament rounds. If you can bring one, please post here to let us know.
[Image: beyblade-burst-beystadium-standard-type.png]
Deck Boxes (similar to the picture below) or any container enabling concealment and ordering of 5 Beyblades are also welcome, as they will be integral for the 5G Match Type in use in this event's Final Stage.

Not exactly, Beybatforever. Sorry.

Remember both first and final stage will be using 5G format so do bring 5 unique and legal combos.

If any of you have spare deck boxes (or boxes in general that would be suitable for 5G), make sure to bring them along! We are in need of a few spares to use throughout the event.

Yes, the rules are outlined in the post. Both first and second stage will be 5G format.

Also, I will keep a close eye on the weather for this coming weekend. If it is going to be really bad rain I may move the event to Sunday instead. Will tag everyone on the Participant List if I go through with that. No surprises.

I am sorry I won't be able to make it if it gets moved to Sunday. Hoping the rain stays away!
I am going to go ahead with continuing to host this on Saturday the 22nd. Sunday seems less prone to showers but it is also a little chillier too, so no winning.

Please make sure to adequately prepare for the event! 5 unique Beyblades for 5G First Stage! Bring an umbrella! It seems like it'll be a wet Saturday.

I've also gone and made the Challonge Brackets for both stages so you can follow along online in real-time:

Check-in time has been moved from 11AM to 12PM, and Start Time has been moved from 11:30AM to 12:30PM. This means we start at 12:30PM, not 11:30AM.

Do all the beys have to be combos or can we use normal bey parts that came along with it

You can use any Beyblade Burst bey that you want, the only thing you have to make sure of is that none of the beys have the same part. This means you can't have two Beyblades in your 5G deck that use the same Core/Blade/Armor/Disk/Driver. They all have to be completely different.
I won’t be able to go Bc I have no ride there and the rain😭😭
same here , can't go because of the rain, Good luck to everyone else tho!!
Hi, I am on my way. Should be there around 12:30.
Dan thanks for organizing. We had a great time. Really nice to meet everyone!
Thanks everyone for coming to my 5G event using more WBBA-focussed rulings, as well as playing with Kei during his short time back! Surprise.

Congratulations to the following players for their great showing:

1st Kei
2nd henwooja1
3rd LivioC
