My Free-running (Parkour)

Not sure whether this shoudl be here, but seeing as it is photography then I'm probably correct in doing so.

Anyway, this is a topic to explain to people what free-running is. Free-running is basically an activity where you make movement around your everyday environment fun and enjoyable. It keeps you fit and healthy and is also appealing to passers by, although some may disagree.

I have been doing this 4 years now, although...I have had a pretty large resting period because of personal and family issues that have arisen. I have uploaded some photos to photobucket for you to view, so take a look and let me know what you think. Not exactly Beyblading but meh lol.

That's really carp' impressive. It takes a lot of self-confidence to perform a majority of those stunts. Well done, keep up the good work.

You seem a lot better than loads of the people I see on TV though. How do you fall safely? =/

Here in my area, there's not many walls to do jumps, vaults, spins, etc off of. Plus, it's only fun for me with friends. Unhappy(

hey it be dope if possible to do burst shots, different stages of the movement.

I get quite a few people watch me, especially when I'm up in London because that is like the british home for it. I got a lot of looks when I was in New Orleans as well which was great, although security asked me to move on many times...they had the same attitude as what they have over here.

In ways, no. A lot of what I know I taught myself outside. However, for the gainer, I learnt this in my local gymnastics gym because I know the people that represent Basingstoke when it comes to free-running, 3Run. But alot of what you see in the photos I learnt outside.

Yes I have tried that. I have been successfull. You just need to improve your balance. Take it a step at a time. Don't try and do a full out run on a wall. First try walking then slowly build up your speed. To improve your balance more, try balancing across a metal pole.

My friend and his girlfriend took those shots for me. I just said what I wanted and they were like "OK". They were shot on my cell phone in burst mode so there used to be a whole set, but I deleted them. I will get some bust photos as soon as my back has healed up =D.

Cheers, we shot several videos whilst we at school during our breaks but alot of the old stuff is real poor compared to the video I provided.

If you do it somewhere safe first then fear will be less of a problem I think.
I was afraid to do the most basic of vaults. At the time, trying to get my legs through my arms appeared to be impossible, but it is easier than you may think.

As said previous, I started all my training outside as a gym was a no go option. I only started using the gym, even though I preffered not to, later on once I started trying more difficult tricks such as the gainer.

In my opinion, I would practice it in a padded area such as a gymnasium for the security and safety aspect. If a gym isn't an option, then the next closest thing would to find a find near an open space, grass preferably).

As you begin to progress and get more confident with your ability, start to move onto concrete as this is when the fun really begins. The possiblities are endless =D.
