Locked articles - Hasbro Beyblade X

I'd like to add some additional information to the articles about the Hasbro Beyblade X original designs, especially the more sparse articles that don't really have much information other than "It's nearly identical to the one it was based off of." Some of them have minor performance differences, but most of them have some kind of detail that distinguishes them from the ones they copy in one way or another. It's mostly visual, but those visual differences should be described. More importantly, though, someone can't just look at the article for, say, the Megatron Blade and really understand how it performs. They'd have to read another article (Hells Scythe* in this case), which can be a lot of redundant reading for someone who just wants a quick answer. I understand that means redundant work on the editor's part, but I'm willing to handle that.

Unfortunately, almost all of the articles are already locked despite not being very thorough. A few of them also seem to have copy-pasted the same "nearly identical" description, even when there are notable differences in overall design and performance (even if the performance changes are minor). I don't know if this is because the info on the wiki itself is out of date or what, but it basically says people should just make changes as needed as long as they're accurate and factual. I would like to, but being locked prevents that.

*On a tangent, shouldn't Hells Scythe be updated to its English release name? I might be misremembering but I thought English names take precedent per wiki policy.
Never thought I'd see someone point out issues with the Beyblade Wiki in 2025 - unfortunately, you're only scratching the surface. As a former part-time editor on the site, this post gives me hope that more people in the community can give the Beyblade Wiki the criticism it desperately needs to improve as an informative encyclopedia; words alone cannot describe how frustratingly incomplete the Wiki is. And with how integral it is for supplying crucial data to casual and competitive Bladers alike, that's unacceptable.

Regarding your points, the articles on Hasbro's echo Blades being locked makes zero sense. Not saying you're lying, but with how arbitrarily barren those are, there is no justification in the world that can excuse the decision to have them be locked. People should be free to edit those articles whenever - within reason, of course - and it's incredibly embarrassing how the Wiki is unable to provide knowledge on parts during a time where the site's existence is now more important than ever. The trend of part articles being stuck with minimal information - or worse, the dreaded "Information on [insert part name here] will be placed here..." sentence - needs to end as soon as possible.

And about that tangent, while I don't know anything regarding the site's policy on English names for parts, Beyblade X Blades should have their English names take priority, since that's the case for Metal Fight Fusion Wheels and Face Bolts. Hopefully the higher ups on the Beyblade Wiki see this post eventually so they can give you the go ahead to edit those Hasbro Blade articles.

The anime will use English names, similar to Burst, but right now we have this odd mix of TT and Hasbro names everywhere, but this is even more confounded in Burst, as we have names like Perfomance Tip and Forge Disc together being used with Japanese names of parts. We been looking to revert those changes back to "Driver"  but it is a big task for us.
I will preface this by saying everyone here is a volunteer who hasn't seen a dime from editing.

If you or OP can demonstrate quality contributions, by all means you're welcome to use the current processes at https://worldbeyblade.org/Forum-Beyblade-Wiki and post your draft for scrutiny. There's also a Manual of Style and Standard of Editing that can be followed to adhere to the style of the wiki.

To be frank, the quality of submissions for years has been poor. Submissions are either out of touch with the competitive side of the game, poorly written, or both. I returned to editing on the Beyblade Wiki in 2021, at a time when there were no editors writing for the toyline. The Beyblade Wiki has never had ENOUGH quality editors.

Unlocked articles have offered years of misinformation that have been left up, because the regular editors have not bothered. The ones I could remember off the top of my head are listed here: https://beyblade.fandom.com/wiki/User:Ma...nformation

It's easy for misinformation to remain around for years with unlocked articles. Some of the Metal Fight anime articles are the worst written, rambling articles ever created. Nothing good can be added by users, but also nothing bad. Given how much of the misinformation has spread over the years, this is the present reality.

On the other hand, there's the issue of the host being Wikia (now named Fandom). Putting hours of work into a website, only for it to be on a website riddled with ads, stolen and put onto other people's websites, or regurgitated with the company's new AI feature (sometimes inaccurately), makes it even less justifiable to update the resource.

The English naming policy was carried over from the old 2010s Beyblade Wiki policy, when it was still under Wikia. The Beywiki (WBO) always use Japanese names, and when the 2 wikis merged in 2015, it wasn't as clear what the policy should be moving forward.

It became apparent during Metal and Burst how using localization names was a bad idea, as ADK/Hasbro had no issue giving the same name to multiple different part types or systems.

I.e. Dark Gargoyle MS having multiple names depending on the source.

I.e. Performance Top System, Hyperblades, and Beybattle Tops being completely foreign to the competitive players who would use the resource.

I.e. The 4D System's "Big Bang" "4D Metal Wheel" is called the Hyperblades "Cosmic I" "Fusion Wheel", not to be confused with the Performance Top System "Cosmic" "Fusion Wheel"

Or the Nemesis 4D Clear Wheel being the "Nemesis A" "Energy Ring"

I.e. the Base, Ring, and Blade are all "Layer Base" under Hasbro's unified terminology.
Ah, so the issues with the Beyblade Wiki are more deeply rooted than I initially thought. That makes fixing up the Wiki a Herculean task, although I wish there was at least something that could be salvaged from its state of disarray.

It's honestly heartbreaking. I really enjoyed editing some articles on Beyblade parts* back then, and I'd love to contribute to sprucing up the Wiki one-step-at-at-time.

*If you're curious, my "claim to fame" several years ago was making significant edits to Liner (https://beyblade.fandom.com/wiki/Perform...ip_-_Liner) and Survive-S (https://beyblade.fandom.com/wiki/Perform..._Survive-S).
