Happy Beyblade Day World Bladers!
To celebrate this year's Beyblade Day, we're introducing updates to our Beyblade X and Metal Fight Beyblade rulebooks, which continue to be our most popular formats in 2026!
Updates Overview
Beyblade X: Infinity Stadium Rankings
Takara Tomy's Infinity Stadium was introduced as the new global standard stadium for competitive tournament play, following its release on October 11th, 2025.
Following discussions within the Organized Play Team, and Infinity Stadium events being hosted by WBO Organizers, we will be introducing the Infinity Stadium as an option for WBO Ranked League events. As battles in the Infinity Stadium play very differently from those in the previous standard, Takara Tomy's Xtreme Stadium (aka Hasbro's Tournament Beystadium), we have decided to separate Infinity Stadium events from the standard WBO Ranked Leaderboards.
Infinity Stadium events may be ranked under the new "BBX Infinity Stadium Rankings" leaderboard, which is part of the WBO Ranked League. This ongoing leaderboard does not have 4-month ranked seasons like the standard leaderboards, and will be carried over to the new site in the future.
The addition of the Infinity Stadium and its accompanying leaderboard will give Organizers and bladers the option to compete in the competitive format that is being played in the rest of the world. Additions were made to the Beyblade X rulebook to address rulings regarding the Infinity Stadium. We have also included 2 new optional rules that may only be used with the Infinity Stadium. They are intended to address the deeper pockets of the Infinity Stadium; the 3-second reverse countdown is based on official Beyblade Battle Base (B4) rulings at Grade 1 (G1) events.
These are available to copy for Organizers on the Optional Rules BBCode Resource.
Metal Fight Beyblade: Rulebook Updates
This year the Organized Play Team has formed a sub-team, the Legacy Rules Committee, with the main project focus being to update our rulebooks for Legacy formats. The goal is to bring them in line with our current rulebook standards, which was established with last year's major update to the Beyblade X rules.
As Metal Fight Beyblade formats continue to be our most popular Legacy formats, they are the first of these rulebook updates. These revisions are effective immediately for all Metal Fight Beyblade formats, including all ZeroG formats.
Please familiarize yourself with these changes, including the Optional Rules list, as some rules may be updated, added, or removed. We won't be able to cover every single change in this thread, so we encourage Organizers and Judges in particular to thoroughly review the new rulebook if they intend to host and judge Metal Fight events in the future.
Mode Changes Requiring Disassembly Now Legal
The most notable change is the removal of the WBO's rules and restrictions regarding mode changes, which have been in place for over a decade. Mode changes requiring separation or disassembly were prohibited (for example, a blader could not use the mode change gimmick of the "Big Bang" ("Cosmic") 4D Metal Wheel). This rule was created at a time when the WBO only played the single Bey battle type, which is currently known as "1on1 Battle". With battle types such as "3on3 Battle" and "Counter Battle" now available, we have removed this restriction to give greater freedom to bladers, as well as more closely align our base ruleset with the official WBBA ruleset from 2012.
This change will primarily benefit Synchrom System Beyblades, including Synchrom combos (2 Chromium Wheels), as these combos may now be "flipped". While there were initially some concerns regarding the usage of the "Dragooon" Chromium Wheel in the standard Metal Fight and ZeroG formats, testing indicated that this mode change would not be oppressive enough to negatively affect the metagame.
Likewise, concerns regarding the "Dark Knight" ("Ronin") Crystal Wheel in the Metal Fight Limited (MFL) format were reviewed, and we determined the mode change to be a non-issue. In addition, the optional rule that bans "Dark Knight" has been removed. This is due to a lack of usage (it has almost never been used), and our belief that "Dark Knight" is not as powerful as thought, when the part was first banned in 2016.
Note that flipping a "Dragooon" or "Dark Knight" combo is considered "spin mode changes" under the "Dual Spin Restriction" optional rule. This means that Organizers will be able to ban flipping for "Dragooon" or "Dark Knight" when using this optional rule, which also covers the "Gravity" and "Variares" Metal Wheels:
For those who want to still play in an unaltered classic "WBO style", the new "Disassembly Mode Change Restriction" optional rule is for you:
Alternative Deck Construction Added
A new optional rule that has been adapted from the Plastics & HMS optional rules, introducing "Alternative Deck Construction" to all Metal Fight formats!
This is a rule that allows more flexibility with combo building, and is closer to the WBBA's rules, where Wheels were the only non-repeatable parts.
As the WBO community has contributed heavily to the growth and continued play of Metal Fight Beyblade as a competitive game, we believed this would be the best middle ground to enable flexibility in deck building, while maintaining some reasonable restrictions on repeating parts, which has been enjoyed by our community for a long time.
Metal Fight Limited Format: Libra & Gravity Wheels Banned
In April 2023, the Organized Play Team debated the inclusion of the "Libra" and "Gravity" Wheels in the Metal Fight Limited format, which has consistently been our most popular Legacy format since it was introduced in 2013.
Gravity had been unbanned in late 2016, with Libra still banned at that time. Following our discussions, we had decided that Gravity should remain unbanned and Libra should be unbanned. However, we also added optional rules to allow the banning of these parts on a per-event basis. The intention was also to gather community data regarding these parts.
The Libra and Gravity ban optional rules were heavily used, with a majority of Metal Fight Limited events using at least 1 of them. We have also seen more in-depth analysis and greater community discussion regarding the impact of these parts on the metagame. This is thanks to both comprehensive Winning Combinations reporting and experimentation in testing and at events (encouraged by the availability of these optional rules), during the 3 years since the decision.
The ethos of Metal Fight Limited was to create a format with a large number of viable Wheels, a power level based around that of releases just prior to the introduction of the Maximum Series, and an overall aggressive game balance that is similar to the HMS (Heavy Metal System) format. Libra and Gravity are both able to hard-counter a large number of potentially viable Wheels (and in Gravity's case, additionally outclass a range of other Wheels across Offensive, Defensive and Balance applications). At events where Organizers banned these parts with optional rules, there was increased parts variety in the winners' decks.
We have therefore decided to reverse our previous decisions, and have once again banned both Libra and Gravity by default from Metal Fight Limited, effective immediately. They have both been moved to the optional rules, with their status now inverted; their respective optional rules now unban. This also ensures that the Spin Direction restrictions on Gravity are always included in Metal Fight Limited event descriptions.
Additionally, we have noted community concerns around the potential strength of the "Screw" ("Spiral") Metal Wheel without Libra and Gravity present. We do not currently believe Screw hard counters or outclasses other Wheels consistently enough to earn a default ban; as such, the optional rule to ban Screw remains available, and we will be monitoring its performance at future events.
Metal Fight Standard Format: Rubber Defense Flat (RDF) Bottom Banned
A long-standing point of contention within the Metal Fight Standard format, the Rubber Defense Flat (RDF) Bottom has raised concerns about its ability to combine Defense, Life-After-Death (LAD), and Offensive abilities within a single combination. This has resulted in notoriously dominant combinations which have historically seen heavy usage and centralised the format. The RDF bottom is also prone to wear in Metal Fight Standard, due to the use of heavy combinations. A powerful part being scarce is an additional factor was considered for the overall health and future of the format. Lastly, the new aforementioned ability to flip the Dragooon Chromium Wheel must also be considered when assessing the potential power of RDF.
As such, the decision has been made to ban RDF by default in Metal Fight Standard, bringing the format into alignment with the other Metal Fight Beyblade formats. An optional rule is available to unban the part, for Organizers who wish to do so.
Battle Start Definition Changed, Penalty System Added
This effectively means that if a Bey does not make proper contact with the stadium's Battle Zone, it will not count as the battle starting. However, this does mean it will count as a penalty for "stadium miss". The penalty system in general is a new addition.
ZeroG Judge Rulings Modernized
We have noted similarities between the Metal Fight ZeroG format and the ongoing Beyblade X format, including the shrouded nature of the stadiums and the tendency for Beys the return to the battle zone, similar to a "reverse" in Beyblade X gameplay. The ZeroG rulebook has been modernized, with some rulings that are now judged similarly to those found in Beyblade X. In general the two formats share a strange amount of DNA, so we hope these changes will feel natural for Organizers and bladers who wish to try ZeroG in 2026!
Removal of Underused Optional Rules
Some may mourn the loss of certain Optional Rules, such as the "Scythe (Hasbro), Hell, and Omega Unban" for Metal Fight Limited. While some of these were fun, they do not fit within the scope of the formats we wish to rank going forward. We believe these will fit better into the new leaderboard site, where World Bladers can create custom leaderboards for format variations such as this.

Quote:No reverse (Infinity Stadium only)
- When a Bey leaves the battle zone and enters the Xtreme or over zone, the finish is initiated and scored the moment the majority of the Bey enters that Xtreme or over zone.
- The pocket walls dividing the Xtreme and over zones are considered part of the battle zone. If a Bey enters this space between zones, neither an Xtreme or over finish occurs.
Quote:3-second reverse countdown (Infinity Stadium only)
- When a Bey leaves the battle zone and enters the Xtreme or over zone, the judge begins a 3-second countdown.
- If the Bey does not return to the battle zone after the 3-second countdown, the initiated finish is scored.

Optional Rules Wrote:Dual Spin Restriction
- The spin direction of Beys or combos with spin direction mode changes may not be changed during the match.
For those who want to still play in an unaltered classic "WBO style", the new "Disassembly Mode Change Restriction" optional rule is for you:
Optional Rules Wrote:Disassembly Mode Change Restriction
- When changing modes, bladers may not perform mode changes that require disassembly.
Alternative Deck Construction Added

This is a rule that allows more flexibility with combo building, and is closer to the WBBA's rules, where Wheels were the only non-repeatable parts.
Optional Rules Wrote:Alternative Deck Construction (Metal Fight)
- Clear Wheels, Crystal Wheels, and Tracks, and 4D Bottoms may be repeated.
- The BD145 (Boost Disk 145) and E230 (Elevator 230) Tracks are limited to 1 combo per deck.
- Combinations in your deck must not repeat Metal Wheels, or Bottoms, with some exceptions listed below.
- The Meteo Wheel may be repeated as long as L-Drago II/L-Drago Absorb Ver., L-Drago Rush Ver., or L-Drago Assault Ver. Clear Wheels are not repeated.
- The L-Drago 4D Core may be repeated as long as the Destroy, Guardian, Destructor, or Guardian (Hasbro) 4D Metal Frames are not repeated.
- The RF (Rubber Flat), R²F (Right Rubber Flat), and LRF (Left Rubber Flat) Bottoms are repeatable parts.
- It is legal to use the same physical part for multiple combinations in a deck, when using this ruling.
- Each intended combination must be conveyed to the Judge and/or opponent before the battle starts, verbally or physically in line with the rules of the Battle or Match type in use.
