General Yu-Gi-Oh! Thread

Pyro, congrats on your win! Machinas are underrated in my opinion, and the reason people see them as tier-two is because not many people play them. They can be very unpredictable; my bro plays them and they're quite good.

You'll find Blackwings to be very, very satisfying to play with. =)
well plz could i have some advice on which starter/structure deck i should buy as i buy one every month and 2 boosters every week(off ebay) as they havent released YGO in india

lulz. Machina is one of the most predictable decks in my opinion.
If you're looking to build a Structure Deck-based Deck, get three copies of Machina Mayhem, and build from there. You'll be missing a few staple cards like Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, Mirror Force, and so on, but that's where buying single cards comes in handy; it will save you heaps on cash in the long run.

Although Machinas are good as an Archetype based from a Structure Deck, do look into Legendary Six Samurai if you want to invest in it, Blackwings, X-Sabers, Gravekeeper's, and Plants, as these Decks are tier-one.

Edit: Daegor, my bro's build isn't like the standard one; it's very anti-meta, and it frustrates a lot of people who go against it at my locals lol.
hmmmm thanks for the advice, im rich right now so ill buy some of that stuff
Well, if you can afford it, then select one (or more) of the tier-one Archetypes and build it/them. Legendary Six Sams are the quickest, and can finish your opponent with haste, followed by X-Sabers.

Current format, BWs are after LSS. Next format I think BWs are still on par with Sabers. Personal opinion though.

I don't lose to Sabers ever when i play them using BW, and it's not just because of my Triple Books or Triple Icarus attacks either (Though they do help).
Don't get me wrong, lol, Blackwings are still very powerful. It really depends on the skill of the person, and how well they know their Deck, and how they pilot their Deck. Personally though, I feel that X-Sabers are quicker than Blackwings, primarily because the current structure of the Deck is to swarm.
I know I'm kinda late, but can I get in on this?

桃太郎 Wrote:Blackwings (Relatively wallet-friendly as you need to get Gold Series to get all the required Monsters except Vayu)

Don't forget Vayu is now a Super Rare Promo in the Black Winged Dragon tin

The September 2010 ban list is what happened to Infernity. They lost 2 Infernity Launcher and after that the deck more or less died. One or two still make top 32/top 16 at the YCS events, but that's about it. It's kind of sad, really; I enjoyed playing the deck and limiting Infernity Launcher really just destroyed any chance the deck had of being good.

However, having said that, I'm actually rebuilding Infernity right now because I think they might be decent at the start of this new format. Plus I just really love the deck in general.

I still play Infernities, and I honestly don't think that losing two Launcher hurt it that much. And, I'm glad to hear you say that you're planning on rebuilding an Infernity deck. Wink

Would the Horus the Black Flame Dragon cards, VWXYZ Dragon Catapult Cannon (plus cards necessary to summon it), Valkyrion & Magnet Warriors, the Sphinxes (Andro, Telia, and Thenien), and holo Magic Cylinder and Enemy Controller be worth somewhere around $8~$12?

Then you're doing it wrong. When Launcher was at three, there were ~10 cards in your deck that you could draw into to initiate a neigh unstoppable OTK.

With Launcher at one, all you can consistantly do is put ~7000 ATK on the board, backed by three barriers. Still good, but far easier to beat.
I have a question:
Do you need a deck of all X-Sabers, all Blackwing, all machina, all of something relatively the same. At least for the most part. Is there such thing as a deck with multi purpose or more general like all synchros? Cause i know not to always to believe in the anime (dragoon F)... but Yusei has like different kinds of cards...i think. Please accept my retardness when it comes to yugioh, ive started only for a few days.

Second:if i start making a deck with Dragon types would this be good to consider?
http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/products/sd-sddl.html

third: Is a deck based around Elemental Heros have potential of a "tier deck" ?

No, u could have something like a Flip-effect deck, (though i HIGHLY discourage it) but a deck w/o a theme is just a random carp deck.

Dragon deck advice: ONLY BUILD IT IF IT IS AMAZING, AND U HAVE MONEY!!! Same w/ six samurais, JUST LOOK AT THE PRICES!!!

E-Hero's have a LOT of support, yet they r AWFUL Unhappy
Thanks for the input Smile I wanna see what some else thinks too because this: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Elemental_Heroes says its good when with the right cards. Not just random cards.
Is the elemental heros deck an average price deck to build?
And to confirm , a deck with tuners and synchros and some sort of strategy with spell cards sucks?
The only trouble bout' building a GREAT E-hero deck is u need 3 ABSOLUTE ZERO, and I'm pretty sure they are limited edition, which is a problem for MOST L.E. cards, but, then again, idk if they're good enough to go out of stock...

Legendary Six Samurai (Very expensive to build), X-Sabers (Expensive to build, mainly because of XX-Saber Emmersblade at 2-3, and XX-Saber Darksoul at 3), Blackwings (Relatively wallet-friendly as you need to get Gold Series to get all the required Monsters except Vayu), Gravekeeper's (relatively wallet-friendly as well; you'll need to get GK Recreuiters from STBL) and Plants.

^^This was posted above, and I HIGHLY agree w/ it.^^
Don't worry Odin, I didn't forget about Vayu's availability from the tin; I just mentioned that it's not part of the GS3 Sets.

And at Killer Beafowl, if you look at some tier-one Decks and their Archetypes, you'll notice that the majority of their Cards are of that Archetype, with some Cards sprinkled here and there to aid them. For example, Dark Armed Dragon, although not a Blackwing Monster, fits perfectly with this Archetype as the Attribute of it, along with most Blackwing Monsters is Dark.

Super-Nimble Mega Hamster helps out X-Sabers because it lets you Special Summon XX-Saber Darksoul, which is a Beast Type Monster.

In short, though there are other ways to do well competitively, the best way to do well in a tournament is to play a Meta-Deck.

lol JBey, I think Daegor would want to challenge your "E. Heroes suck" statement.
new ruling lol
exceed summon lol

If priority no longer exists for Ignition Effects, the number of effective S/T rises quite a bit. I like it.

A couple things: I only got a Launcher this December; my deck was fine.

I don't care if I'm "doing it wrong." I guess I play a bit of an anti-meta (if there is still such a thing) with my Infernities. It's my deck, I'll do what I want. (This from the guy with one Archfiend and no Barriers, lol)

Killer Beafowl, yes. A Yusei-style (tuners, synchros, and spells) really won't do well. And don't worry. They accept my stupidity, and I've been playing for years.
If you're playing Infernity with no Launcher and no Barriers, why are you even playing Infernity at all?

I mean really... The deck was built to do one thing and one thing only: explode and then keep control. You can't do either of those things without Launcher and Barrier(s).
Wow... Ancient Gears suck. Some poor kid went 0-9 at a tournament at Anime Club with them.
Note: When playing against Pyro, I did not bring my side deck that day, which resulted in me not being able to spam Cyber Dragons. Also Momo, Machinas are easily the most predictable deck around other than X-sabers. Machinas: Summon Gearframe, search for Fortress, ditch Gadget and Fortress, special summon Fortress, set 1-2 backrows, end. X-sabers: Boggart Knight, special summon X-saber monster, special summon Faultroll, go Herp Derp.

And, I would like to challenge the statement that said Blackwings are on par with X-sabers. X-sabers were initally a quicker deck that could explode at any time, and after March 2011 Blackwings got hurt bad with their defensive cards. (Loosing 2 BoM, 2 Kaluts and 1 Icarus.) Yes they are still runnable, but they lost a lot where X-sabers got hit on Cold wave and that's it.

And, if Priority gets removed from the game, that essentially says that Solemn Warning is outclassed by Bottomless Trap Hole. As the only real reason why Warning is good is because it stops your opponent from calling priority on their effects.
I don't want to challenge anyone's statement, but really, my brother's Machina build is one of the most unorthodox builds you'll see, and he still does quite well at locals; Winged Kuriboh + Berserker Crush have saved him countless times, and even I question its dwelling in his Deck. Though I do admit, X-Sabers are quite predictable, but that doesn't mean they're that easy to stop.

And I have to admit, Blackwings, although are still tier-one and are very control-oriented, are not as quick as X-Sabers. Blankshot, I personally find X-Sabers to be better this Format, mainly because as Pockyx3 has said, can go off as soon as they have even one or two of their key Cards to do some heavy damage. That, and they didn't get hit as hard; losing one Card isn't as bad as losing five. I have to stress it's all about how well one builds the Deck, and how well one pilots the Deck.

Well, I might be baised, because I used to use E-Hero's, but then along came infernities. By the time infernities were struck dead in the Sept. 2010 ban list, I had already moved on, and I had made a new deck tht killed every E-Hero deck I saw. Still, I don't know if Daegor plays them well, but even so, I still find them annoyingly predictable. And yet, my fav. character is Jaden... irony, right???

EDIT: Also, yes, I DEFINETELY agree tht X-Sabers > Blackwings at speed.

It's called Budgeting. I have no money, but I got Shining Darkness packs as a gift. Also, they interest me, and I want to see how well they work without what seems to be their key trap of the deck. Also, I only got the Launcher (and majority of my deck) this December. I'm trying out a style of Infernity that doesn't have a carpload of money in it. Lots of commons/rares.

Yes, I agree. Ancient Gears suck. Hard.

thanks that means a lot

And i think ive took part in a new deck. No one kill me if its stupid or anything but apparently, a sheet i got talked about a "twilight deck" which consists of light and dark monsters but for now ill explain what my "possibly stupid strategy" is.
I have a synchro monster call chaos goddess and her ability is for every turn to send one light monster from my hand to my grave and summon a level 5 or higher dark monster. So if i put random weak light monsters in my deck and super awesome non-synchro dark monsters such as Gandora the dragon of destruction in my deck then...you should get it. Im aware i can't win with only strong monsters so ill have in general good spells and traps like mystical space typhoon, oozaki, etc. Spells and traps that for the most will not effect my monsters.. Anyone, please i would like to hear your approach. y decks are imagination btw.
I laughed when you said in general good spells, then you listed Ookazi.

And for the record, decks such as Twilight already do exist, however Twilight decks generally use Lightsworns mixed with a few darks such as Spirit reaper, Gorz and Tragoedia, and Chaos Sorcerers. Not chaos goddess.
