pshhhhh man theres lots to love with a ps3? you doing it wrong :\

What's so bad about it? I know it can have it's problems but the blu ray player is always useful, burnout paradise etc. are good...
I'm not saying I really like it but it can't be THAT bad?

It's not that it's bad or anything, I think most people are just kind of like me -- they buy one and there's a very small selection of games that are worth playing that aren't on other platforms and once you've blazed through that very small hand full of games there's nothing left to do with it other than to watch movies.
Right now I don't own any games at all for my PS3, and I don't see any coming until God of War 3 that I'm even remotely interested in so it's been relegated to being my BR player, and I don't watch movies all that often either so more often than not it's just a $400 dust-gatherer.

Same goes for me with 360. Except I can't name a single upcomming game I actually want. Atleast I spent less then $200.
I'm actually thinking here, and I can't name a single upcomming game for 360 I'm interested in that isn't multiplatform, since I tend to PS3 multiplatform games.

Mostly the same info from the Game Informer cover story, but there's some new tidbits in there. I'm getting more and more excited for this game every time I hear about it. God, I just really hope it doesn't suck.

I think it's more about the brand power, and how this can help Harmonix reach a younger demographic with Rock Band.
This is supposed to be their more "family friendly" version of the game. As long as it's compatible with the other versions of the game and the tracks are exportable to be played in RB2 then I don't have a problem with it.
When are people going to realize that the video game industry has gotten to the point where not every game is made for them? People don't freak out when a new romantic comedy film is released, they just don't go see it if it doesn't interest them. It's pretty sad that people can't behave the same way when it comes to video games.

I don't think I know any children who play lego videogames apart from one kid who plays Lego Star Wars for the Wii because he was given it and because he likes Star Wars. He couldn't care less about the lego. I don't mind them releasing lego games, I just have yet to find someone who actually likes them (and I know a lot of kids). ^^;
Expanding to other demographics is perfectly fine and a smart move to do if it's feasible.
However, people do tend to get antsy if their own demographic gets neglected in favour of a re-focus to a new plan due to whatever reason (sup Nintendo).

I don't mind the lego games, Star wars one is not that bad but it is the fact that you don't have any life which makes it to easy to complete.

When I was younger I got so annoyed by everything focused on kids. People would be insisting I read those magic key books, and my mum says it never helped me learn. Apparently some supply teacher was surprised when I started reading a chapter book and was telling my mum how amazing it was (I was like four at the time or so I think) and my mum said that she knew but all the teachers forced me to read stuff "for my age group".
I always remember looking forward to playing games like Zelda, and seeing amazing guitarists and stuff, but thinking that I wasn't old enough to do cool things yet and that I had to stick with the kiddie stuff. I think after a while I sort of realised that you shouldn't have to like certain things because they're stereotypically targeted for your age group and that you can't like other things.
Another good example is people who say you're babyish because you like beyblades. Just because they're targeted to a different age group, doesn't mean older people can't still enjoy them too.
What the hell is your point? I really have no idea what you're getting at or how it's even remotely relevant to my post that you quoted.
You were a good reader at 4 years old... Um, congrats?
I never said that kids shouldn't play Rock Band -- my 7 year old sister plays with me all the time -- I think Lego Rock Band is just a way for Harmonix to get more attention from a younger audience.

The point was that things being aimed at certain age groups doesn't mean they are RESTRICTED to those age groups.
I was agreeing with you. Although I may have gotten carried away and typed way too much without thinking about what I was quoting. Uhh, I do that sometimes. Sorry. Didn't mean to be annoying.
Just got my Assassin's Creed II Game Informer.
My god, the game looks seriously hot. Can't wait.

A very interesting read on the creation of the second best selling console of all time. Which lead to its' successor being the best selling console of all time.
