Forge Disc - Vanguard

Vanguard is a Forge Disc released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Gatchinko Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of DX Starter Venom Diabolos Vanguard Bullet on July 6, 2019.

==Description==

Vanguard is a six-bladed disc that slopes downwards, similar to Armed and Vertical. However, the inner parts and bottom edges consist mostly of plastic, riveted to a metal inner frame. Two of the six blades are larger than the others.

Vanguard's low-lying shape leads it to be used most often in LAD combos, with the Bearing or Rise drivers specifically. It is most often compared to 10Wall in this aspect, both doing similar jobs and having almost negligible pros and cons. It can also be used for attack, although one must be careful to avoid scraping. It is a pretty good all-around disc for the GT format.

==Recommended Combinations==

Lord Spriggan/Diabolos 2/Longinus Vanguard Bearing/Rise is your standard LAD combo. Awakened Rise also allows this combo to be aggressive, if need be, although it is a sub-optimal way to use this combination. It excels in the GT format against opposite-spin.

==Overall==

Vanguard is a rather heavy disc for it's time, working well in many different functions. Should you not have Blitz, it works for Attack, and it is a rather good disc for LAD. However, the weight of current discs far outclass Vanguard, and other low-lying discs now do the job better. Therefore, Vanguard is recommended for collection purposes only.
