2D, also known as 2-Defense, is a [color=var(--theme-link-color)]Chassis[/color] released by [color=var(--theme-link-color)]Takara Tomy[/color] as part of the [color=var(--theme-link-color)]Burst System[/color] as well as the [color=var(--theme-link-color)]Superking Layer System[/color]. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-169 Starter [color=var(--theme-link-color)]Variant Lucifer Mobius 2D[/color] on July 18th, 2020.
==Description==
2D has a rugged design, akin to Wall, with 6 rubber blades. It has a high CWD and as Dual Spin Double Chassis, is compatible with Right/Left/Dual Spin Superking Chip and Ring.
In theory, 2D’s 6 rubber blades would stick out at high spin velocities, akin to Archer Hercules, and deflect attacks with a barrier, then retract at lower spin speeds, like shelter regulus, to reduce stamina loss. However, in practice the 2D Chassis’s blades often hinder the combination, as they increase drag and decrease the combinations stamina in same-spin matchups(much like Quest), and scrape on tornado stalling combos. Despite its name, 2D’s Defense isn’t even that great either, as the aforementioned poor stamina is due to recoil caused by the blades being pushed inside by an opponent and making contact with 2D’s bumpy exterior, worsened by the width of 2D’s plastic pieces compared to the width of the barrier.
Compared to most chassis and discs and like Dynamite Battle Discs, 2D is positioned rather Low and can scrape on standard height Drivers, probably to neuter 2D’s gimmick akin to Twisted’s Spiral Staircase of Death. Another neutering feature is a is Ashura like teeth, though the thick shape of 2D somewhat offsets this.
While 2D May seem like an overall bad part, it has a secret ability: it is possible for the barrier to wear down and eventually break off, turning it from a Defense to Attack part. With the barrier gone, 2D’s stamina is increased, and its high weight makes it better for Attack.
Furthermore, the barrier isn’t completely useless: it can be used for spin equalisation, especially when paired up with a tall driver.
==Use in Spin Equalisation combinations ==
2D can be used in the spin equalisation combination World Diabolos/Spriggan Rise/Bearing/Mobius 2D. World and the chip’s dual spin property allow 2D to be set in the opposite spin direction against any foe in most situations, combined with the tall height of Rise/Mobius/Bearing helps with LAD.
==Overall==
Despite being meant for Defense, 2D’s self harming gimmick makes it outclassed by 1S+Wheel for it. While it can be useful for Attack combinations when awakened, 2A and 3A(with Rage) are much better suited for such a use. Thus, it shines in terms of providing burst resistance for spin equalisation equipment Furthermore, it is outclassed by Over/Giga for the former and Karma/Legacy/Nexus+S for the latter, as well as Over/Tapered for spin equalisation.
As such, 2D is not a must have but is a worthy addition to any blader’s collection.
