Beybracket: A project made by hobbyists for hobbyists

Hey guys! I wanted to share a big update on a project I've been dedicating my time on - a web app designed to help us players and hobby shop owners find and run tournaments.

Where I'm from, people hosting Beyblade tournaments usually use Challonge, which I totally understand is the standard. However, I felt like it was missing some key components specific to our hobby, so I built something that I think makes hosting even easier, and way more hype.

From my previous post, I indicated the different features as to why I think you'll like it. I'll re-iterate them as follows:

• Automated "Swiss to Top Cut" Format Most local tournaments I play in run Swiss rounds followed by a Top 8/16/32/64 cut. Doing this manually or transferring scores between apps is a pain. The app handles this automatically: it pairs players based on W/L records for Swiss, and when you're ready, it instantly generates the Single Elimination bracket for the finals. No more juggling between apps or rebuilding brackets from scratch.

• The "Live Ticker" Experience (Still My Favorite Feature) I wanted events to feel like a major eSport. I added a Live Match Ticker that scrolls across the top of the screen (like ESPN or the Stock Market). As soon as a judge submits a match result, everyone in the venue sees it flash across the header instantly. This creates such an exciting atmosphere - you can literally watch the tournament unfold in real-time.

• Built-in Tools for Judges & Owners • Smart Permissions: You can add Judges who can help score matches on their phones, while regular players just get a "View Only" mode so nobody accidentally messes up the bracket. • Mobile First: It's designed to work perfectly on your phone, so you can check your next pairing right from the stadium.

• Late Arrival Friendly Real life happens (traffic, lunch, emergencies, etc.). If a player shows up after the tournament has already started:   • Round 1 Forgiveness: If they arrive during Round 1, the admin can force override the system to add in the newcomer. The system then checks for any existing "Bye" players. If one exists, it instantly pairs the latecomer with them. If not, it creates a new match for them (vs a Bye). However if the first round finishes and they aren't matched with a new player, their default score is set to 3-4(players' loss), this is to ensure that players will still be able to join the tournament but they'll get penalized for being late.

Why this matters: Most bracket software locks the roster as soon as you hit "Start". This system gives organizers flexibility without needing to reset the whole bracket.

• Player Profiles & Identity System You can customize your profile with an avatar, bio, and unique handle. But it goes deeper now: • Tournament History: Every tournament you've played is tracked - fully searchable and filterable • Trophy Cases: Show off your wins with a visual trophy display on your profile • Achievement Badges: The system automatically awards you badges based on your performance.

I wanted players to feel like they're building a reputation in the community, not just entering random brackets.

Now. I'll be adding in the new features that I've developed from that point on up to the present:

• Global Leaderboard (NEW!) This one's pretty exciting - there's now a points-based ranking system where you can compete for the #1 spot across the entire platform. You can see where you stand against other players globally. I'm also working on store-specific leaderboards so there can be "local legends" at each venue.

• Tournament Invitations (NEW!) Store owners and organizers can now generate unique invite links for their tournaments. Players can join with a single click - no more manual roster management or asking people to "find the bracket on Challonge."

• Casual Tournaments (NEW!) Here's something I'm really proud of - you don't need to be a store owner anymore to run a tournament. Any player can now organize casual tournaments and has the same match-scoring tools that store owners have. Perfect for local meetups, park battles, or just hanging out with friends.

• Discord Bot Integration (NEW!) If your community uses Discord, you can now connect BeyBracket: • /support [issue]: Submit support tickets directly from Discord • /faq: Quick access to frequently asked questions • /status [tournament_id]: Check live tournament status without leaving Discord

• Enhanced Display/Projector Mode (Updated!) For venues with screens or projectors, I made some improvements: • Properly labels Grand Finals vs Battle for 3rd Place • Cleaner visual updates for audiences • Everything syncs in real-time as matches finish

WHAT'S COMING NEXT?
I'm actively working on some cool stuff based on feedback:
• Seasonal Cycles: Leaderboard seasons that reset periodically (like competitive games do)
• Store-Specific Rankings: Track local champions at each venue
• Ruleset Templates: Pre-configured tournament types you can launch instantly
• Bey-Specific Match Reporting: Actually record which Bey won and how (Burst, Ring-out, Survivor finish)
• Meta-Analysis: Track which Beys and parts are winning most often (this one's gonna be wild)

FEEDBACK IS EVERYTHING
I built this FOR the community, so your feedback is what drives this project forward. If you have feature requests, bug reports, or just general thoughts on what you love or what needs work, please let me know!

P.S. If you're a store owner or regular tournament organizer, I'd especially love to hear from you. Your real-world experience helps shape what features get prioritized.
Hello! I'm giving it a try right now, just setting up a test bracket. It look like I set 5 points at the tournament creation screen, but now that I'm in the bracket, it's stopping at 4 points instead, and I don't see a way to adjust this in the settings.

Using the app in this trial run, I like the visual layout in the tournament itself. The judging/score input system is very clean.

Curious what the auto-complete's function is. I'm finding it helpful as I fill out this test event at least.

I noticed that when I ran my first test event here, I used 8 players, but it generated 5 rounds of swiss. Does it always default to 5 rounds, or does this change based on anything? I can't find a setting for it.

In the final stage, points to win went up, but I don't see a setting that would make this make sense. The default is 7 points, but one of these test matches stopped at 6, and another allowed point overflow up to 9.

I'd love to hear more about this project. Feel free to message me back here or on Discord.
