I like how the outlines look on the characters a lot. The Opening and Ending are really nice and definitely surpassed my expectations. The story was pretty spot on with the manga, but they moved all of the explanation about the X Tower to the very beginning, and all the info about Team Phalanx to their introduction. I don't have a problem with any of the changes. They gave Dran Sword an avatar, which isn't super surprising given that in the most recent chapters they seem to be appearing (Shark Edge, Knight Lance, Leon Claw). I'm pretty excited to see what Hells Scythe's avatar looks like next week.

All I said about the visuals is that I liked the outlines. That doesn't have anything to do with what you said bro. If you really want my input, the characters were on model most of the time. They looked different because the anime's style is different, but that's to be expected. The visuals actually seem to prioritize consistency more than the motion itself.

Also, based on the trailer, the content covered in episode 2 looks more impressive, specifically the Multi cuts. I would assume that's because at the start the production was focused more on the Opening and Ending, some of the main sources of advertisement. Then after they finished these focus was fully shifted onto the episodes.

I had fun with the episode, it is just beat for beat chapter 1 but hey chapter 1 was good so what's to complain about there.

Overall I thought the first episode of X was fine and op and ed are fine. I know there’s a lot of people already being negative but I think we should just wait for more episodes before judging the anime entirely because it could end up being really good. When the first episode of burst came out a lot of people were negative but it grew on a lot of people as time went on so I have a feeling this will be the same idea.

Changing the studio would've solved a lot of the problems imo. It really just feels like I'm watching Burst 2.0 and I hate it for it.

I honestly agree, I think each generation should have new studio just so things can stay fresh because honestly I think from a art standpoint it's too similar to burst and I think if the visual language was more unique people would enjoy it more tbh

Chrome looked amazing. I mean the fact they managed to retain all of the hair strands he had in the manga is impressive. Props to the AD this episode for that. 

How about from now on you lower your expectations. Then you will be able to enjoy the great things. Whereas if your expectations are always high, you'll never enjoy anything about it and will always be picky.

Beyblade X Episode 1 Review

Well we start this episode with showcasing Chrome and Ekusu's team winning a tournament where we see DranSword doing an Xtreme Finish which uses the sound of Chain Kerbeus' "Chain Despell" move. By the by, I'm not really that fond of DranSword's avatar. It feels overly detailed in the art style and yet the design's too bland for me, not enough stylization to it. It's not terrible, just not really for me.

The OP plays and well, you already know how much I love this OP so let's just move forward.

We see Bird and his team head to the city where the X tower is and we get to see that our Beyblade announcer in this season is essentially a radioactive version of Mr Bad. The story is essentially a condensed version of Chapter 1 of the manga but the breakage feels more brutal due to Bird's more horrified reaction, which he quickly seems to get over. We then get to see Ekusu's wonderful social skills as he approaches Bird out of the blue and greets him. I like Ekusu so far, mainly for how weird and awkward he is which was obvious in the manga but seeing it in the show makes it more apparent. I also like that Bird, while he has the typical main character over the top reactions at times, he's more of a straight man and is more grounded than say... most of the Burst protagonists.

Now that the battles have begun, I'll get to couple little complaints I had, the generic beys and the Xtreme Finish:

I was already disappointed that they didn't adopt the unique generic blader beys from the manga and opted to just reuse the expected WizardArrow, KnightShield and SharkEdge, but if that wasn't enough, some even use the stock combos of these beys, like we actually see a full blown WizardArrow 4-80B and KnightShield 3-80N but just recoloured. One thing a Beyblade series should never do is make the generic beyblade combos the same as the main beys, as it loses their uniqueness to me. MFB and even Burst at least mixed up the combos. The combos here are clear as day when we see them knocked out...

Speaking of which, the Xtreme finishes. Why don't the stadiums here have specialised pockets (as far as I can tell anyway) to differentiate a normal K.O and an Xtreme finish? Are those only differentiated by if the K.O is done by the rail riding? It makes the Xtreme finishes look really underwhelming when it's similar to a regular K.O.

Anyway the rest follows the manga chapter so story wise there's nothing to complain about besides the condensed feel, but it was still a pretty solid story for the first episode. People have also taken issues with the animation and while it isn't the most spectacular looking series and can be a bit stiff, it's not that bad and it isn't terrible, just that it could be better. I've noticed the lack of even slightly detailed animations though.

The ED song like I mentioned, is non-standard and so weird for a Beyblade series yet I really love it. Finally a good ED again after Believe.

Overall I quite enjoyed this first episode, which again is kind of a given since this adapts Chapter 1 of the manga which I also really enjoyed. The characters and their dynamics were fun, I liked Ekusu, Bird and even the bully team, especially the leader. Is it amazing? Not really, but it is a perfectly serviceable first outing for X, and I'd take stiff animation over the terrible writing later Burst offered anyday. It'll be interesting to see how they'll fare once they outpace the manga and do their own thing, I hope the quality remains consistent.

I think changing up the battles alone would make big changes in this regard. If I remember correctly Dran Sword's avatar didn't have any bank animation, so having the avatars show up and do unique things every time would go a long way.

1st of all this is just the 1st episode so chill
2nd of all not every thing in the animation and art will be perfect and the animators are probably working their butts off so please take that into consideration

Not only that but this is a weekly anime. That means tight schedules, very demanding work for the animators, and a lot on their plate. Any good animation from them is a win.

I forgot to mention this but I like the effects of the auras going wild when the beys clashed in the opening. Whenever that happened in Burst they usually just did the same general thing over and over again, so I hope they keep in diverse.

Haven't seen the episode yet, but I feel like the ending fits the aesthetics of X very well actually.

Is this the first time they've addressed fakes in the anime? It nicely adds a bit of realism to it.

The whole series also has a more mature feel to it than Burst, though I think they could go a lot further.

Shame they didn't put the opening at the end, since it spoils the whole Ekusu identity thing. Finding out who he was at the end of chapter 1 was something that caught me completely off guard. Not sure it would have the same impact in the anime though, since the scene introducing Team Pendragon could have been done a lot better. This brings me to my next point, the art.

Honestly? I don't think it's very good. And the manga having its art be god-tier makes it stand out even more in the anime. Just compare these two pictures. It's not even about the characters's faces. The clothes look completely different as well. And this is a problem throughout the whole episode. The colors look washed out in many of the scenes as well, and it just kinda looks lifeless. Not always though. 



The voice actors are great - mainly Ekusu. Ekusu as a whole is probably my favorite character so far, I've legit laughed many times throughout the episode, always thanks to him. 

Overall, I like it a lot. The two main characters' personalities and the music saved the adapation for me.

We can only be sure after the second episode drops. Cuz remember Db, Qs also had 24 minutes first episodes. I know it doesn't make for a new series to have 10 minute episodes but this is still a possibility.

Bruh, the songs don’t fit in the anime.

Which I already mentioned about the ED beforehand in my previous post, but I don't really care because the songs are actually fun to listen to.

I suppose it can be much more rock, but the drawings are good.
And I saw the English sub upload already, and we can watch it on some anime website like animesuge.

It's already been confirmed that season 1 will be 51x 22 minute episodes. Well 24 minutes for the Japanese version anyway.

Watched the episode, pretty fun for the start. Sure some drawings are a bit out of proportions, but I can overlook it. I also understand simplified designs. It's just is faster and easier to draw.
Anyway, really like the OP and ED. It's such an unusual music to use!

Also, that one guy who crushes the Beys (forgot his name) could come straight out of YGO Season 0 with that hair/colour.
