Ben Folds

Is anyone else a fan? I'm pretty into his stuff. I own all of the albums, sans Ben Folds Live and Supersunnyspeedgraphicgo.
Whatever happened to Ben Folds FIVE..?
They broke up after Reinhold Messner. I like their style the best (Ben Folds Five/Whatever and Ever, Amen), but Rockin' the Suburbs was fresh too.
I feel as if I didn't give a good description of his music when I made this topic, so here's an update. Ben Folds is a piano rocker. Instead of using a guitar to rock, he uses a piano. And it works! If you want a sample of some good songs, then send me a message. These were the best examples I could find of his music through Youtube, but he's got a ton of better songs actually on his albums.

Listen to all of the songs below before you make your full opinion. Many people seem to like One Angry Dwarf a lot, because it's insanely hard to play on the piano and he just bangs it out.

Underground. [Album: Ben Folds Five]

It's catchy. Very catchy.

One Angry Dwarf, and 200 Solemn Faces. [Album: Whatever and Ever, Amen]

It's about a dwarf that gets picked on as a kid, but gets super important as an adult, and so he brings his bullies back to his basement and demeans them the entire time because they were assholes and now they're nothing.

Song for the Dumped. [Album: Whatever and Ever, Amen]

GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK, YOU carp. He actually made another version sung entirely in Japanese.

Army. [Album: The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner]

About a guy who wants to join the army, but decides to take the college route instead, and hates himself and his life afterwards.

Not the Same. [Album: Rockin' the Suburbs]

This song is about the time Ben Folds went to a party, and some dude took acid, climbed up a tree, and stayed there all night until morning. As soon as he came down in the morning, he became an evangelical Christian for...no reason. Acid does some crazy things.

Rockin' the Suburbs. [Album: Rockin' the Suburbs]

YOU BETTER LOOK OUT, BECAUSE I'M GONNA SAY carp! Funny how his most played track in the US was the one parodying angry white boy music.

Jesusland. [Album: Songs for Silverman]

This is when he kind of mellowed out and...wasn't really funny, but it's got some good chords.

There's Always Someone Cooler than You. [Album: Supersunnyspeedgraphic]

It's true.
What about.. "Selfless, cold and composed"
I just posted what I could find from Youtube--these are far from my favorite songs. But, they're still good. Selfless, Cold and Composed is a great track.

My favorites from:
Ben Folds Five
Where's Summer B?
Alice Childress
Underground
Sports and Wine
Boxing (This song deserves an A+++++)

Whatever and Ever, Amen
One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces
Song for the Dumped
Selfless, Cold and Composed
Kate
Cigarette (I can play this on a piano, but that's only because it's rather easy. I like how the crickets were unintentional, but set the mood rather well.)
Steven's Last Night in Town
Battle of Who Could Care Less ("I've got this great idea!" "Well, why don't we report it to the Franklin carp' Mint?")
Evaporated
She Don't Use Jelly (Lounge-a-Palooza Version)

The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner
Narcolepsy
Don't Change your Plans
Hospital Song
Army
Jane

Rockin' the Suburbs
Zak and Sara
Still Fighting It
Fred Jones pt. 2
Carrying Cathy (A++++++)
Not the Same
Rockin' the Suburbs
Fired

There are parts of Losing Lisa (Notably, the first verse is awesome) and The Ascent of Stan (I love the piano and the chord progression here, along with the melody) that could have made them great songs, but their choruses just don't seem to fit at all. I love the songs otherwise.

Songs for Silverman
carp
Jesusland
Landed
Trusted
Prison Food

The last tracks on his albums seem to be some of his best. My favorites are Boxing and Prison Food. I also enjoy both Evaporated and Lullabye. Many people seem to enjoy The Luckiest, but I really dislike that song.
