Are there really fake Skeleton Phantom Orions?

I have been searching for one of these guys for a little bit now, but recently found this thread claiming this Skeleton Orion was fake.

Now obviously it has 3 digits on the facebolt code, but how is this possible? That should only be on Hasbro releases, and Hasbro never made a Skeleton Phantom Orion. But at the same time that Orion is molded extremely well. That thread is the only thing I can find online about fakes of Skeleton Orion. Some users were talking about a factory leak, which would make sense. I have seen a lot of these sold this year which seems odd considering there are only supposed to be 100.

There also was another user claiming there were 100 per country, but I can't find anything to back that up. Most people online say there are no fakes of Skeleton Orion, but unless there is something I don't know, that thread seems to indicate there are fakes. Just want to know what you guys here think. After all that thread was from 2021.

There were only 100 in Japan. In Japan, it was released as a lottery prize that could be entered via the CoroCoro Comic magazine, similar to Beys like the Black Hole Version of Galaxy Pegasis, or the Gold Version of Sol Blaze.


Outside of Japan, these lottery Beys were more widely released in unknown, varying quantities, so there is no true known number. The one that BeybladeGeeks reviews for example, is from Funbox Toys, the Taiwanese distributor.

The thread is also missing a bit of additional context. M12390 is a known reseller that bought up Beys and resold/flipped them on their eBay account. M12390 had purchased them from another eBay seller for $150 before flipping it for $450 on their own account. So the fakes originated from the other eBay seller.


It's entirely possible that there are fake Skeleton Phantom Orions out there, but these are more likely to be the variety coming out of the second, newer 'midfake' company. They're the ones that produced the midfake Stardust Pegasis, red Rock Leone, Jade Jupiter, etc.

Huh, I didn't know any of this. But it doesn't come up in literally any google searches. Thanks for the knowledge. Hopefully the one I just bought isn't midfake
