[Answered]  is the Reversal Rule here valid?

Beyblade X Regulations - Beybase
I saw a rule regarding the validity of the return of a Bey in the stadium
"For a reversal to be valid, the Bey must return to the battle zone while maintaining its proper spinning orientation (tip/bit facing downward)."

Regarding the official rules, how true is this? I can't seem to find it in the official rules. Is it good to implement?

We are discussing a unique scenario in a tournament regarding the return of a Bey

What are your thoughts on this matter?

It’s an unspoken rule but beybase is right I’ve seen beys do a reversal and still get the point
Not an "unspoken rule" at all. As long as it returns and is spinning in its original spin direction, it counts as a reversal.

It does not need to be spinning on its original axis, so if it were to flip inside of/on its way out of the pocket and is still spinning in its original direction when it returns, it still counts as spinning until it stops. This applies to B4 (TT) and WBO.

A right spin bey that has been flipped will appear to be spinning "left" when viewed from above the stadium. It is still spinning in its original direction.
A left spin bey that has been flipped will appear to be spinning "right" when viewed from above the stadium. It is still spinning in its original direction.
If you were to view the same bey from below the stadium after it was flipped, you would see it spinning in its normal direction.

In that specific clip, Hover won by Extreme Finish thanks to the reversal. It did not stop spinning in its original spin direction until after returning to the primary battle area, regardless of the fact that it flipped.
I'm new to Beyblade, and my peers just told me that the WBO's rules differ from Takara Tomy's. They explained that in the video, Wyvern would win under WBO's rules, but Wiro would win under Takara Tomy's rules. Since they're experienced, I'm just taking their word for it for now.

I live in Japan and constantly play under B4 rules, and have since day one of Beyblade X.

Wyvern won by Extreme Finish thanks to the reversal, regardless of the fact that it flipped over while escaping the pocket. It was still spinning in its original direction without ever stopping prior to reversing from the Over Finish, which is the primary distinction you need to pay attention to here.

As I mentioned last night, this applies to both B4 and WBO.

WBO and B4’s BX core rules align a lot more than most realize, and to my understanding, a lot of the differences on the WBO side are typically extra clarification in areas where folks try may try to take advantage of how broad some of TT’s wording can be.
Thank you for this clarification. The challenge we face is that our "Head Judge" insists on exclusively using his own interpretations of the rules and is consistently unreceptive to feedback or alternative perspectives from other community members.

Hi BH_Lancelot! I'm the one who answered your question over email, so I figured for the benefit of people checking out this thread I would share the key parts of my response here:

https://beybase.app/rules/ appears to be a fan-operated site which has inserted some of their own rules into the official ones. It is not an official Takara Tomy website.

The description of how reversals work is directly from the official rules, and is correct.
https://www.takaratomyasia.com/img/beybl...dition.pdf

However, this section is nowhere in the official rules:

Quote:For a reversal to be valid, the Bey must return to the battle zone while maintaining its proper spinning orientation (tip/bit facing downward).

"Invalid reversal" is also not mentioned in the:

- Official rules video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kUa9-iASn8
- Japanese version of the rulebook: https://beyblade.takaratomy.co.jp/beybla...lation.pdf

The rules are very clear how a reversal works: it just has to maintain its rotation.
The rules also define when a Bey would lose by spin finish: "The moment the Bey's spinning speed in its original rotation direction becomes zero"

This topic has come up before, and people have argued that a Bey spinning "upside down" is not spinning in its original spin direction, because it's spinning in the opposite direction when viewed from above. But Takara Tomy has said exactly the opposite. The direction a Bey is spinning does not change depending on the angle it is viewed from.

- In this 2022 email (https://x.com/Y_B_B_B_K_P_C/status/1491679487716921347), Takara Tomy explicitly says that a Bey that is upside down is still spinning in its original rotation direction.
- Another official message on this ruling: https://x.com/Y_B_B_B_K_P_C/status/1658984303961997312

The user who posted these messages is themselves an official Beyblade judge in Japan, and they frequently post on X to clarify ruling questions.

To recap:
  • Official rules: "It is considered as a Reverse if the entire Bey, after entering the Xtreme zone or over zone or after leaving the stadium once, returns to the battle zone while maintaining its rotation. In this case, the Xtreme finish, over finish, or restart is canceled, and the battle continues."
  • Official rules: "Spin Finish: The moment the Bey's spinning speed in its original rotation direction becomes zero."
  • Takara Tomy's official communications: Confirm that a Bey spinning upside down in its original spin direction (regardless of orientation) is still considered to be spinning.
  • Official rules (text and video, English and Japanese): No mention of the concept of an "invalid reversal."

Therefore (using ONLY the official Takara Tomy rules):
  • WyvernHover enters the over zone, causing an over finish to occur
  • WizardRod enters the Xtreme zone, causing an Xtreme finish to occur
  • WyvernHover returns to the battle zone while maintaining its rotation (reverse), canceling the over finish
  • WizardRod becomes unable to return to the battle zone, completing the Xtreme finish
  • WyvernHover's spinning speed in its original rotation direction becomes zero, causing a spin finish to occur and complete

The winner is WyvernHover.

A big caveat: the rules for official events in different regions will be managed by different regional offices and distributors. It's entirely possible that someone officially involved with Beyblade's marketing and distribution in the Phillipines has communicated that this is how it should be ruled. However, this has no basis in the original Japanese rules. If your goal is to play as closely to the official Japanese environment as possible, you should consider this.

While our rulebook is different from the Takara Tomy rules, we put a lot of effort into understanding the official rules so that we can make educated decisions around what to expand upon and what to change (which honestly isn't very much). In the near future, we will release a list of differences between our rules and the official rules.

Good carp mate. Now have some actual fun without him
I would just like to ask the same thing with the video having aspects of the "reversal" rule.

In the video it is mentioned to be an Extreme Finish which would later on be corrected to a Spin Finish by another post.

I watched and tried to carefully look at the Phoenix Wing's rotation, if it maintained it's original rotation or it started spinning the wrong way upon returning to the battlefield. Based on what I saw, it started spinning incorrectly. What would be your call here?
