If you know the limit of the DSL and keep your draw/rip strength in check, it should last a long while. The beyblade geeks use (what I assume) to be the same digital sword launcher even today for some of their test spins and battles with no noticeable degradation in power. People who are complaining about the fragility of the DSL are probably pushing it too hard.
But even so, I plan to make moulds of the gears in mine to replace them eventually with a stronger resin for my own personal use.
