The WBO is proud to announce that we will be partnering with ANIME NORTH 2014–for the seventh consecutive year–to host GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT 2: WBO North American Championship 2014! With Bladers from across the continent will be battling it out for the title of WBO North American Champion, the competition will surely be intense.

Want to participate?
GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT 2 will be open to the public, but if you live in North America, and aren't able to afford the trip up to Toronto? Don't worry! We've got you covered; win one of our qualifier tournaments and you'll win paid travel expenses up to Toronto! Here's the list of qualifiers currently planned:

This list is likely not final, so please stay tuned for updates about more qualifiers in the coming days/weeks!

View the full announcement here for details!

Entry: You need an AN Pass!
A Blader Passport is not required for this tournament, as AN does not allow event organizers to charge entry fees for events within the convention. However, if you want to support the WBO so we can host even better tournaments with even better prizes in the future, and participate in the BeyPoints ranking System in future tournaments, then you will need one! So, if you wish to purchase one at the tournament, that is still possible.

To participate in the tournament, you currently have a few options to gain entrance: a) a weekend pass or b) a day pass for Saturday at AN. Click here for information about online registration for ANIME NORTH 2014. Please note that children (ages 6-13) are admitted for half price.

This year will mark the tenth AN tournament since the original GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT at Anime North 2005. The fact that we’re all here to recognize this anniversary of sorts can only be a testament to the collective passion we all share for this game, and more importantly, to the longevity and resolution of this community to move forward in the face of uncertainty. Additionally, the new Limited Format is the best recent examples of this, and that’s why it has been chosen as the format for the championship this year. It’s something we alone created as a community, and it’s something we will watch and help grow as time passes, all as a result of our own will and determination.

Many people have come and gone since that day at Anime North 2005 almost ten years ago, but what hasn’t changed, and what won’t change–unless we let it–is the tradition. Regardless of who attends each year and who doesn’t, the experience of meeting Bladers from across North America–and the world–each year is absolutely unforgettable, inspiring, and special. As an organization who’s very existence is so deeply rooted in the idea of competitive play and interacting with others, I have always found it hard to think of anything else which embodies what the WBO is about more than the AN weekend every year. Wherever you are, if you have the chance to attend, take it. And with that said …

If you think you'll be able to make it out to GRAND BATTLE TOURNAMENT 2, please post here and I will start building an attendance list!

Registering for a passport with expedited delivery (3 weeks or less) tonight, so if all works out, confirm me. Tongue_out

I literally can't wait to see everyone there.

I'm so glad to see you represent Connecticut, Leone. I'm hoping to see you next month. Smile
leone19, you won the Connecticut qualifier? if you did, maybe we'll battle, and yes, we got another for sure attendee, that's greatTongue_out so now we got 14 for sure attendees, so guys, if alot of our possible attendees come, then therefore we'll get at least 18-23 people, that's a good start, but let's try to get more people. I totally forgot about one thing! we usually get alot of our posible attendees to come so that's one good thing!Tongue_out

Hey guys, could you pls sign me up for the main event
Anyone want to meet up on the 22nd? Ill be getting to Toronto around noon that day.

"Okay, tournament's over, go home everyone!"
I just remember thinking it was very, very funny but became increasingly awkward as it went on.
You are bang on in that assessment haha.
Might as well put me down as "possible"

I WILL be at AN, but I just don't know if I'm gonna bring my beys.
I'm actually going to be focusing more on actual con activities/panels/dealers room stuff this year.
But I will definitely be popping in on the Saturday to say hi to everyone and maybe hang out for an hour or two (If I don't participate, of course)

I have a full weekend pass this time, and I'm arriving in Toronto to check into my hotel on the 22nd (Thursday), so I'm totally up for hanging out if anything is going on! Grin, and I'll be staying until Sunday night.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. I was on such a rushed schedule last year, that when I left the tournament I only had 40 minutes to look at the dealers room before having to leave. So this year I'm making sure to enjoy the whole thing.

I hope you'll be able to find the time to play! People often ask "Where's Crimson?" at our recent tournaments. Unhappy

We have tournaments in all formats throughout the weekend, including on Friday night and Sunday morning (this includes Plastics and HMS!), so it would be great if you could make it to one of those as well!:

Want to put out a feeler- will anyone else be at the Airport Hilton? My father just booked a suite there.
guys, i was just wondering, would there be a place at the ternaments where you can buy stuff?

That'd be outside these events. The majority of items go for pretty high prices, so I wouldn't buy much.

I'm sure others here would be selling a couple of things there, though. If I could recall, they did so last year, and the year back.
wait, so when can i go and buy these items outside these events? and would they be selling dx sets there? because i've been saving up for this, so i hope the dx sets are not like 100$ or anything like thatCrying because if they are, they are ripping us offUnhappy So what are the prices?Confused do you think?Confused

I'm not too sure what they'd be selling. They might not even have many Beyblades.

A lot of conventions do rip people off, that's no lie. A lot of conventions sell things for higher prices.
I don't know about conventions in Canada, but in London, you actually save money buying at them then somewhere else most of the time. I've seen Yu-Gi-Oh decks go for around £12 in stores. At conventions: Around £8. It might just be me though, haha.

Sorry to get off-topic. BTW, I think Beyblade has kinda died-down as of now. So like -Midnight said, they might not even be Beyblades there. You'll mostly find Anime outfits/figures, Marvel ect. Though, like I said; I'm not sure about conventions in Canada.
Actually, people in conventions can really be open about negotiating, mostly on the last day if they want to get rid of their stock. It is definitely worth a try.

For Beyblades though, you probably have to look for whoever will be selling at our tournament(s), because I only saw some fake Beyblades in a box under a merchant's table last year.
alright thanks guys, but would you be selling any of the prizes?

Prizes are usually for winners, so no ... However, we should definitely have items for giveaway. Special ones, if everything works well.
so how do the giveaways work? do they work like last year, when they tossed beylaunchers in the air, and someone is supposed to catch it? and when a bunch of people rip into a single stadium for a certain prize? Is that how the giveaways are going to work?

Nothing is set in stone, but we have done stuff like that in the past, yes.

Prices last year in the vendors market was ridiculous for Beyblades. Id stick with eBay or something like that.
Ok, so where do you find the vendors market?
