My CCC (Collecting, Creating, and/or Customizing) Hobby is bad for my wallet...

Hi there. My name is Kaji Motomiya, but you can call me "Kaji" or "Kamiya" for short. I'm a bit of a hobbyist, but most of my hobbies are artistic, falling under the writing, singing, drawing, and photographing categories. However, my arrival to this place involved a DANGEROUS part of my hobby that sometimes to mostly doesn't have to do with my artistic endeavors: CCC - Collecting, Creating, and/or Customizing.

C1: Collecting
I am a collector at heart. I collect games, systems, figures (which surprisingly ADDS to my arting), manga, pennies before 1960, etc. I also love to organize these collections in a fashionable, easy-reference easy-accessible order that makes my life easier. However, "collecting" often requires a good amount of money. 1/8th of my time, I have a job that probably lasts...1/8th of a year. My last job got me a good amount to go with, but that...quickly got lost. C1 is the most dangerous part of my CCC hobby, since it usually leaves me broke.

C2: Creating
As an artist, I like a little bit of creativity and originality. So I try to always come up with ways to make things my own. I take it as an art, and its originality tends to become my mark or signature. C2 ALWAYS goes hand in hand with C3.

C3: Customizing
When I customize something, it always involves something that can be used COMPETITIVELY. Beyblades, TCG decks, etc. I add my own personal flare into things, but I also try my hardest to think up my own combinations, own techniques, etc. And if I put my mind into it, I do a lot better than I expect!

Back in my day, I had two main Beyblades: A Dranzer F and V combo, and a Galeon and Galman magnet combo. These two usually helped me win my matches, and they were my prize. But then the Galman's secondary ring broke, and I suffered my first loss. I haven't played since...mostly because I realize how much money these things cost, and that I KEPT GETTING POOR BECAUSE OF THEM!!...Oh, and Bionicle.

But it seems a trip to Toys R Us rekindled my CCC Hobby in the form of Metal Fight Beyblade, and I'm currently researching on them to play for hobby again. Too bad they don't have local competitions anymore...

...So hi, nice to meet you all. Let's get along. DAMN, I wrote a lot...
actually they may start having competitions for hasbro soon and you could host your own with enough people here
Welcome! Many members of WBO are always selling everything to do with Beyblades and not just MFB.
...You think it'd look stupid for a 20-year old (turning 20 next week) to be playing and competing? Because...I LOVE COMPETING...

I ABSOLUTELY love challenges. I always strive to become better at things I wanna get into, like YGO and Beyblade.
This is the only thread I've visited, and from your responses, I already feel happy to be here. I feel stupid for collecting these type of things, so a place where it's accepted takes a load off my shoulders.

Edit: BTW, is there anyone else here around the age of 18 or older? Because...I honestly feel stupid, almost being 20 (as of this post) and getting back into Beyblade...

Oh man, that REALLY makes me feel better. I know it's normal for some adults or older teens to be collecting stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh! cards or Magic cards, but when I go to Toys R Us or Target or Walmart and browse through the toy section (mostly Nerf), I feel a bit dumb and awkward. The only time I've ever bought a toy from those stores was when I needed to buy 1:12 scale bikes for my figures and photos, which still makes me feel weird. Nerf, I feel okay with. But whenever I wanna buy something, say, like a Transformer or Beyblade, I hesitate because, even though I look younger than 20, I'm STILL 19/20, and it feels very wrong of me to buy something like this for my own sake.

I'm very self-conscious, but I always feel better when I know there are other people like me in the community.
You can say it's a present to you lil' brother or cousin!?
But Welcome!
Welcome!
i also am a bit of a CCC person i guess!!
@ Kaji Motomiya >>>

Being self conscious is a one thing ,but bothering about what people think about you especially the ones who you don't know or most likely will not come in any regular contact is another

I For one don't give a carp to what anyone thinks , i wanna buy a bey i am spending my own money on it so why should people bother so much about my personal interests , this is the way i feel though

Anyway just let it go & do or buy what you like Smile
Welcome To The WBOSmile
Hey welcome to the WBO! Don't feel weird about being 18+ hahaha there's plenty of us older players here. I'm 18 myself, and have played since I was 10.
