Chapter 2: A Major Offense

The blades flew from their launchers to the stadiums center, before circling out around it's edge, gaining speed and momentum with each lap

Blake's eyes were tracing the laps "You've gotten faster... Did you upgrade Lynx?"
Ryan laughed "Glad you noticed, Auriga has gotten faster too!"

Breaking pattern, Lynx swung from the stadiums edge across the center, cutting it's opponent off by intercepting it's path, grinding it against the dish before falling back behind it.

"Looks like you're still not fast enough."

Blake was getting flustered, the feint smile was now gritted teeth "See how slow this is for you. Auriga, chariot rush!"

The golden blade began to emit a shining light.

Something seemed to crank inside it, a loud click emitting from its bottom.

Falling back for a brief moment, it's speed suddenly increased, swinging around behind Lynx, crashing against it's wheel, forcing it forward, its speed increasing like the engine of a car, coming to life.

Lynx was losing spin, it's balance wavering slightly as it's wheel caught the edge of the stadium.

Ryan's overt confidence was wavering. Something had changed since the last time the two had battled, since the last time Blake had battled against Shaun.

Not just his blade, but his strength, his spirit.

A different person stood before him, reborn from the ashes.

"Nice new moves.. But let's see how you hold up against the classics"

Lynx regained balance, bolting forward as it started to zig zag left and right, leaving trails of air behind it. As it shot across the stadium, it moved itself in to Auriga's path, continuing it's erratic movement, the thin trails of air now slowing it, altering it's balance as it hit the walls of air it's target left in its wake.

Auriga ricocheted across the walls of air Lynx left behind it, slowing it's new found speed massively.

The two of them were being pushed away from the stadium, the walls of wind blasting aftershocks out, like ocean waves, crashing down.

"It doesn't matter if you've got speed Blake, you've got no strategy!"

The cracks were widening in Blake's resolve, and now anger was starting to fill him. He'd come too far, he'd trained too hard to be shot down again.

"Strategize your way around this! Auriga, Scythed Wheel!"

Auriga's balance suddenly threw itself, falling to it's side, the edge of its wheel now making full contact with the floor.

Tumbling on it's wheel, it escalated, crashing through the walls of air, gaining on Lynx.

In an instant it's speed rocketed, gaining, biting ever closer, before it shot straight past Lynx.

Yet something was wrong.

Lynx slammed against the stadium floor, sending rubble and dust flying, forcing a blast that erupted as metal bit through metal.

"What the hell happened!?" Dean shouted over the sound of the blast.

Florence glared, focusing her eyes closer "Auriga used it's bottom to attack.

Greek chariots used spikes on the sides of their wheels to cut down their targets.

Auriga seems to be using it's bottom in the same way the chariots used their spikes."

The feint smile that had once haunted Blake's lips was now a confident smirk, followed by a loud laugh.

"Looks like it's game over Ryan!"

Ryan stood there, unmoved, his confidence still solid.

He was staring at the center of the stadium intently, watching like a hawk as the dust slowly cleared.

His eyes seemed to be darting between two points rapidly, gauging something, monitoring something, compiling data.

Florence and Dean watched on with baited breathe. "Has he given up?" Dean said to Florence softly.

"No" she simply replied.

"He's worked it out."

Auriga continued to circle, its speed dropping from its maximum velocity.

Something flashed.

Auriga was face to the floor, spiraling upside down before slowing to an awkward stop.

Blake was stunned "What the hell just happened.."

Ryan put his hand up, allowing Lynx to fly back in to it with a soft clink, put it back in to it's beycarrier, and reattached his grip to his belt.

"You used up all your power too early..

When you decided to smash Lynx in to the ground, it still had a lot of energy left over.

More than enough energy to exploit Auriga's weak point.

Since Scythed Wheel relies on Auriga rotating on it's side, the wheel can fall either one of two ways. Inwards, allowing the blade to fall back to it's bottom, or outwards, resulting in the blade being face down.

All I did was use the strength I had left to slam Auriga face down.

If you'd waited to use it, then you might have won, but you got angry. You got frustrated. And that's why I can't let you fight alone... You can rely on other people, we're friends. And we can do this together.

Blake clambered down in to the stadium, and picked Auriga up.

Ryan was right.. He had lost his head. And because of it, he'd lost the fight.

Looking up, the smile returned, softer than before.

"Deep Dish Stadium tomorrow. Don't be late this time."

With that, he clambered out of the stadium, and walked towards the city center.

It was still early, maybe he could get to Meaties for a sausage and egg Meaty muffin.
Your doing really good! Like all the similes.
