Possible Defects with Young Toys (Korean) B-88 Beylauncher LR - addyaustin - Aug. 12, 2018 Just an FYI, the Korean TT B-88 LR launcher is utter garbage and has a much weaker spring than normal Japanese TT B-88. That's why they are going out for a cheaper price. I fell for that and now I am regretting that. And the Beycodes do not work with the WBBA app. That's a double whammy. Can we get any further indicators other than if it's Korean or not? Like, do they say they were manufactured in different countries? Because it's all Takara-Tomy, and if we can get more signs, we can figure out what's going on better. Might be some ones in Japan that are also from the bad batch. OK, found the thread you made regarding Korean beys, which has more info. A simple fix is to hold the piece in place with some superglue or enlarging it with heat.(Aug. 12, 2018 8:27 AM)addyaustin Wrote: Just an FYI, the Korean TT B-88 LR launcher is utter garbage and has a much weaker spring than normal Japanese TT B-88. So wait, it's something that can be easily observed from the outside, without opening it up? The little white piece that sticks out? Not sure if I'm understanding right. But like you said, that isn't tournament legal, which may be important to a number of people. So for anyone else, they would just have to live with it or get a new launcher. I am interested in hearing more from people about B-88s from Young Toys. I have to wonder if this is just a bad batch that hit those TT releases or it may be something wider than realized and people just don't recognize it because they don't have launchers to compare against. So I'm wondering if there are some different issues to look out for, or if we need more looking-into. That, and again, I wonder how widespread it is. Overall, more input from different people (or multiple purchases at least) would probably help. I fixed it using this method (NOT tournament legal) Thanks Kevo for the link to the vid, as you probably know I jammed paper into the grooves in the prong housing & it has the same effect, but I think the hot air dryer method to make the mechanism tight sounds great here. Yes superglue will stop any movement whatsoever which will also prevent further deformation or wear inside the prong housing. And when the prong mechanism does not click those few notches back it gives a more secure feeling when tightening the bey onto the launcher. I just wonder why our Korean ones are made with smaller/looser fitting 8 shape white plastic bits than Japanese ones though. RE: Possible Defects with Young Toys (Korean) B-88 Beylauncher LR - Kevo - Aug. 20, 2018 It could have been a simple manufacturing error. The good thing is TT has acknowledged the issue and will be rereleasing the blue LR launcher in October. Wait, TT acknowledged the issue? What do you mean by that? Just that the blue one in Japan seems to be OK so far? (Though I've heard some off reports with that one as well.) You can read about it in this tweet: https://twitter.com/EGIST3/status/1022038572478619648 Basically they contacted TT and got word of a rerelease of the blue LR in October. I own the blue one and it seems to have the same issue as the Korean red one. In the case of the blue one, it's significantly worse in Left Spin. Right spin is still usable to an extent without any sort of modifications. Didn’t bother to require me to return it. He did the same for the Korean nL I got from him which seemed to have a weird fitting Destroy driver/super loose teeth. Maybe he knows about bad batches, or that this is a common complaint. The 2nd B-88 I got from him still is working fairly well, does not click or skip after a few months, but its launch strength was not as good as 1st B-88 out of the package. I guess an analogy to all this is would u pay a bit more for a Japanese car over a Korean one...for less frequent defects? But then I also see u had the bad blue LR from TT Japan RE: Possible Defects with Young Toys (Korean) B-88 Beylauncher LR - BurstMaster - Aug. 24, 2018 I have one of these launchers. I have been using it in left spin mainly. It works perfectly fine for me. But then I also see u had the bad blue LR from TT Japan The thing is, these are all made by TT in the same countries as the ones to Japan, far as I can tell by all the info I've seen. This isn't a thing of a different company doing different things, but bad batches from the looks of it. That's why we can't be totally sure that these are limited to South Korea. So your analogy is incorrect. It's not a Japanese car over a Korean one, it's a Japanese car from Japan, Hong Kong, or Taiwan vs. a Japanese car from South Korea (but the manual and some other bits were translated to Korean). But we can't be sure how these defective ones are spread out. RE: Possible Defects with Young Toys (Korean) B-88 Beylauncher LR - Adarsh Abhinav - Aug. 25, 2018 Just to Inform you guys, the sword launcher India gets for $5 is same as Korean ones. I've heard the sword launcher doesn't last long in general. Not sure that's limited to anybody. Found your post from another thread: (Aug. 25, 2018 4:25 AM)Adarsh Abhinav Wrote: Ever broke a sword launcher? So you've personally compared the two? I have to wonder though how that would happen. I wouldn't think a company like TT would purposely send faulty stuff to other countries with different distributors, that's still their own name on it. TT's apparently admitted to the blue B-119s having a bad batch in Japan. Maybe it happens more than people pay attention to. Blue, gold , red Beylauncher LR are all of lesser quality than the original B-88 (you can tell the original by looking at the prongs). Since it is very unlikely to find the originals B-88, all beylauncher LRs should be consider affected.
