RE: Questions about the WBO - Jinbee - Feb. 02, 2015

While I said he wouldn't come back, me and UW officer have a suspicion that he may sneak back in as a new identity, maybe he claimed to leave and then we wouldn't expect him to come back. MAYBE.

Who cares ... even if he does come back ... look at how much effort he would be putting in just to make an account to post on a website where he has already severly tarnished his record. There isn't much left for him here. Then even if he does manage to post, he has to consciously be aware of everything he does, to not give himself away. Even at that, when he gets caught, he will have a couple posts on that account. He cannot really build a substantial profile for himself anymore. Even considering his original account with Faces and BeyPoints has been banned.

Just how many banned accounts does it take to permanently deter someone from a forum, I do not know. But I can imagine that it would be disheartening.

Why was he banned ...

RE: Questions about the WBO - Mitsu - Feb. 02, 2015

Wombat told me that he suspected he was Kaneki; I initially didn't agree, but then did. Like, it was kind of odd for someone to join a Beyblade-based forum, but not actually play the game anymore. Suspicious, no?

The name Harmony also comes a character from Brave Frontier, a game Kaneki plays. Not entirely sure, though, seeing as Harmony claims to be interested in rapping, so that may also be where Harmony came from.

I wonder if someone like sarabscientist knows.

(Feb. 02, 2015  7:52 PM)Packers Wrote: http://worldbeyblade.org/User-Harmony

Why was he banned ...

Because he was using a proxy to get onto the website. Someone who has no reason to hide their IP address, should not be using one.

This is why he was able to accidentally post eight of the same thread, possibly because of glitches with the proxy server. Usually MyBB will tell you that you have already sent the same private message or posted the same post if you accidentally click something twice or your internet lags. Sometimes it will allow the postage of duplicate threads but usually no more than two repeats - not eight.

Also being a new member, how did he immediately know where to post his thread about "raps"? It's clear he's a repeat member.

At this point we might as well have a thread called "Why Were They Banned" because literally all of the past few pages have been filled with pointless speculation and hooplah ... Uncertain

Next time just private message a moderator if you need to know that badly. Aside from Deikalo, there hasn't ever been a public thread for discussing the legitimacy of bans. And every time I do have to explain, the banned members can see it and they just get cleverer ...

Random question, how do you cross this out and why?

s is the code.

Probably to show he posted it but retracts his statement?

My post about people speculating was not aimed at you directly, Honey, haha - because it has somewhat of a basis. So your post was fine.

RE: Questions about the WBO - Jinbee - Feb. 02, 2015

Uh, thanks a lot Smile

RE: Questions about the WBO - The Supreme One - Feb. 02, 2015

Honestly, honestly, honestly...
This Kaneki speculation is immature and getting pretty ridiculous. Several of you, who continue to post asking questions (UW Officer, Honey, etc.), claim to be his friends and have means of talking to him outside of the WBO as administrators of his forum, so wouldn't it make more sense to ask him personally instead of drawing attention to something that may or may not be true? I by no means wish to condone Kaneki's behavior nor am I trying to offend anyone on here, but if you know something for certain, just tell a moderator in private, otherwise the speculation is superfluous.

Sarabscientist, using a proxy and doing research before posting a thread shouldn't inherently make someone suspicious. I used proxies throughout my middle school years to access social media sites through my school's network. It goes without saying that a thread regarding something a user created goes in Your Creations; had it been me, I don't think I would have posted this anywhere else. I can see how one could come to your conclusion after putting the two together, but to outright ban a user based on this sort of speculation seems somewhat uncalled for.

Again, not trying to offend or upset anyone, just want to add my two cents, since I've been fairly silent on the matter and I think it's time something was said.
tl;dr Public speculation about banned users is pointless and unnecessary.

Seriously guys I am disappointed in you guys.

If you are in contact with banned members, that is not my problem. What is, though, is when you guys know about his activities (i.e which accounts are his and what he plans to do next) and then act as if you are blind to the whole situation. To make things worse, you guys think it's some kind of childish game where you sit around and wait for him or some other member to act up and take it upon yourselves to track their alternate accounts down. I am not asking you to rat him out immediately, because I do not care. Unless there is a disturbance, I usually let stuff like this fly under the radar and don't "investigate" until later on.

What especially stupefied me was this private message I actually received ...

Let me talk to [redacted] in a manipulative friendly way.

?

We've already established the truth, there's no need to make the situation worse. Annoying and bullying someone, repeat member or not, can result in a warning, by the way. We have moderators for a reason - vigilante behavior isn't needed.

As a side note, I've dealt with numerous types of cases - so this isn't my first time banning someone.

Of course.

Look at this wonderful list of moderators. People with the specific task of doing forum upkeep.

I do know for a fact that when Hazel was around, warnings for "mini-moderation" were quite commonplace.

WBO Community Rules Wrote:RESPECT THE COMMITTEE!

Finally, respect the WBO Committee members at all times. They work for the WBO and their authority here is absolute. Please follow their directions at all times and listen to what they say; they earned their position for a reason.

My second concern is people breathing sighs of relief when alternate accounts are found and banned, claiming they feel "safer" but then proceeding to converse with the very same member on another forum? This whole concept literally makes no sense and I am not telling you to be mean to the person or whatever, but just think about it.

To conclude - it's fine to speculate through private messaging but don't make a show of it in the threads. Like I've said before, it only encourages people. What they want is attention and others are willingly giving it to them.

Remember these gems:

We should quietly (PM) our mods if we think something is suspicious.

(Dec. 11, 2014  2:25 AM)sarabscientist Wrote: Guys. This isn't the first time someone has made desperate attempts to get back on the forum. Please stop worrying and discussing it needlessly. This only encourages Kaneki even further. Do not feed the troll. Let the moderators handle it. Just forward any suspicious or threatening private messages to any of the staff and we can deal with it correctly.

There will be no "war" and there is no way Kaneki can "hack" the website. Everyone needs to chill. I will not hesitate to hand out warnings to those contributing to the conversation in a speculative manner with no actual substance. Thank you.

I don't know, personally I think it's kind of disgusting to pretend to be someone's friend on one end and then rat them out and rag on them from the other. Banned member or not, these are real people and I do think you should have some respect and integrity in "friendships". I am asking all of you to be sincere, not only here, but in real life too. Do not fake anything just to please someone else. Yes, pretending to be "on someone's side" and then squeezing out juicy bits of information to build objective evidence against them can be seen as "enjoyable" but really what are you doing? It's the lowest form of hypocrisy and deceit. Of course there are real-life people and situations that constantly are using this method but let's be real here. You are mostly children, no older than 15, on a Beyblade forum. Nothing is at stake here - there is no need to go to such extremes. You are not spies, you are not working for some high-level security organization.

So, be happy, be honest, take it easy.

RE: Questions about the WBO - Jinbee - Feb. 03, 2015

Okay, how do we take it easy? Do we find members and just report it and it's all over?

Either you did not read my post or you just want to be redundant to increase your post count ...

If you see a post that is against the community rules; mean, homophobic, racist, crude, sexist, derogatory, SPAM, in the wrong place, etc, REPORT IT.

(Feb. 03, 2015  2:31 AM)UW Detective Wrote: Do we find members

I literally was just ranting about how people shouldn't only be on this website to play the game of "find the repeat account". No, you do not "find members". Do your own thing and if you come across anything suspicious, hit that report button and be done with it. Do not think that your sole purpose on this website is to play detective.

The entire point of "take it easy" was probably, in general, to stop the accusations of every-other-new member, asking who/why someone was banned, and probably just to stay calm with the entire "banned user is secretly still here" thing.

Quoting my post that Sarabscientist quoted:

EDIT: Sarab, I'm sorry, I will try not to do it.

OFF-THIS CURRENT CONVERSATION TOPIC.

There's only like 3 (You, Kai-V and Tri.) people on that list that actually do moderator stuff, and 2 aren't even global mods.

Your point exactly? I honestly believe Kai-V can shoulder all the moderation work single-handedly because it literally consists of going through the reported posts log and dealing with the issues. If members do their part, moderation is a breeze.

Some of the people on that list are moderators for the other language forums, also.

Administrators handle all of the BeyPoint processing and Faces, which is quite a hefty task in and of itself.

The forum is pretty self-sufficient in that there are clear rules and an efficient way of resolving issues so there's rarely more than three or four reported posts in a given day - and they're almost always some kind of SPAM bot (which are removed at the click of a button).

RE: Questions about the WBO - Jinbee - Feb. 03, 2015

I'm still confused on where those random spam bots come from.

Do people just make random accounts or something? I know, I feel stupid not knowing it.

Woops, I guess I got WBO Random Thoughts and Questions about the WBO mixed up again.

PS: the language forums are basically dead, and a lot of them aren't active I don't think .
