I feel like this story fails to be “dark.” Dark stories are defined as something that deals with things that would make people uncomfortable, things that probably aren’t allowed to be discussed in the WBO (things like horror of war, drugs, people trafficking, child abuse, genocide, terrible crimes, and terrorism).

I judge from a subjective point of view as that is what allows for a better story. In my eyes criticism should be done totally subjectively and not in the context of another story. The story is sort of edgy, but not dark
