Best/Worst Beyblade Episodes - LOL-y Rancher - Aug. 10, 2019
This thread is to explain your favourite and/or least favourite episodes of all or any Beyblade series. It doesn't have to be limited to just one series, it can be any Beyblade series episodes that are on your favourites so go nuts.
I created this thread to vent my frustrations of one particular episode of Beyblade I despise so much because I searched for a thread like this but surprisingly couldn't find threads where you get to express your favourite/least favourite episodes so here it is (if there is an existing thread like this, then close this one if you want to).
In my list, I'm not including any GT episodes as the season isn't finished yet. Also, I'm only picking one per season so the list isn't too redundant with seasons (trust me, a lot of G-Revolution episodes would've swarmed my best episodes list).
- My Favourite Beyblade Episodes (In no particular order):
- "Breaking the Ice" (Beyblade S1) -
A fantastic episode. I loved the personal fight between Kai VS The Bladebreakers and it really helped shown how much The Bladebreakers' skills and friendship has strengthened throughout the previous episodes, eventually using this against Kai in order to defeat him and show him that having more power isn't everything. I also really liked that Tyson didn't beat Kai with Dragoon F, he uses Dranzer F which helped Kai demonstrate that abandoning his long time Beyblade partner was a mistake he will regret. It also helped develop Kai and mellow him out into a more humble character. I wish more Beyblade seasons did a battle of the main cast vs the main character's rival, which only happened with Shu/Red Eye.
- "Ghost in The Machine" (Beyblade V-Force) -
It's the first time we see Kai actually get emotional for someone on his own. He feels guilty about what happened to Wyatt and when fighting Goku, he feels as if he's fighting Wyatt and in his mind, is causing more harm to him as a result. This one shows that he needs to learn that he isn't fighting against him but for him and it's actually really well done.
- "Beybattle for the Ages" (Beyblade G-Revolution) -
An intense (if cheesy) battle between Tyson VS Brooklyn's inability to handle his loss, where Tyson tries to break through Brooklyn's social shell and try to open up to him. Brooklyn is very lonely and closed off so he doesn't open up and therefore, he feels he cannot be helped on how to deal with his loss. It's also at this point that throughout the series, Tyson has learnt to be a humble blader and is now trying to help Brooklyn deal with losing for the first time without feeling the need to get upset or outburst. It's also a great wrap-up for the main cast (and for a lot of characters).
- "Kenta and Sora" (Metal Fight Beyblade) -
I had a lot of MFB episodes that I liked but I'm picking this one. Kenta's grown as a blader and seeing him act like the mentor to another noobie was interesting. The first episode had Kenta being mentored by Ginga and now it's Kenta's time to take Ginga's lessons and mentor Sora. It had a good balance of development and funny moments with Sora screwing up.
- "The Guard Dog of Hades: Kerbecs" (Metal Fight Beyblade Explosion) -
Damian screwing over Julius was brilliant, it broke a character who's usually very confident, proud and stoic but Damian showed Julius his personal hell which is failure to live up to standard and when he felt like all of his previous accomplishments were wiped out, he broke his stoic attitude and finally showed fear. It shows that he's more afraid of failing than he let's on as accomplishments were all he had and without it, he felt like he had nothing to his name. The battle was also just really cool to see, filled with explosive moves and nightmare fuel, it was awesome.
- "New Striker is Complete!" (Metal Fight Beyblade 4D) -
4D/Metal Fury had mostly average episodes so I had to pick one I liked the most, which is this one. The battle was really unique, with the odd sphere stadium and the battle had Masamune and King try and top each other by either beating other opponents or each other. The addition of Jigsaw made things more interesting as he was unexpectedly strong for someone who looks like a background character.
- "The Bridge to the Future" (Metal Fight Beyblade Zero-G) -
Now whilst Zero-G/Shogun Steel is one of my lesser favourite Beyblde seasons, it wasn't without some gems. One aspect is similar to the episode "Kenta and Sora" which is that Zero who previously learnt the passion of Beyblading from Ginga is now teaching the lesson he learnt to Kira, of course he had to beat him to hammer the lesson down. The scene where Kira almost falls to his death was actually tense and it was interesting to see that Kira felt that he didn't deserve redemption and deserved to fall. I was happy it wasn't just Zero who saved him but Yoshio, Kira's best friend got him out too. Whilst the battle between Zero, Ginga & Kira vs Doji was ridiculous, I loved the callbacks to the first MFB season which explains Doji's motif of why he wants to get rid of everyone. The way Doji dies is really dark in concept, he willingly jumped to his death if it meant he could kill everyone inside with a pretty cool escape scene. I also liked that we saw the previous characters as adults, seeing what they were doing since 7 years ago.
- "Fierce Combat! Valt VS Xhaka!!" (Beyblade Burst) -
A great fight between two childhood friends, two fully powered attack-types and the fight for the Four Spin Emperors spot. There was a fight for Valt to become one of the new Spin Emperors or Xhaka keeping that title and it was great as there was a lot of suspense, a lot of impact (no pun intended) and every time one of them had the advantage, they make a comeback which usually ended up in a draw.
- "Duel! Longinus VS Spriggan!" (Beyblade Burst God) -
After all this time, it's still one of my favourite Burst episodes. An episode with an incredible battle between two long time rivals and when Shu loses to Lui again, he goes insane and this is where we go through Shu's psyche. We see that he's quite disturbed and go through the process of obtaining the ultimate power for Spriggan by going through stages in his mind where he needs to overcome obstacles like Lui and Free. The trippy images and animation were a sight to see and at this point, we see that Shu has truly changed after resonating with Spriggan.
- "Aiga's Super-Z Resonance!!" (Beyblade Burst Super-Z) -
My favourite battle in Burst. It was non-stop chaos between these two bladers where Phi is constantly trying to break Achilles but Aiga uses his newfound knowledge from Phi's previous battles to avoid it. Aiga pulled so many moves and strategies to avoid or counter Phi's Dead Stinger Press, despite fear that he will fail to do so. I really liked how creepy Phi was, especially that scene where he tries to corrupt and taunt Aiga by doing that creepy whisper. I'm also glad Aiga didn't break Dead Phoenix, it shows that Aiga has grown into a much friendlier blader who doesn't need to resort to using a dark resonance to destroy Phoenix but instead just beat him and still congratulate Phi for the exciting battle. Also, Hearts making fun of Phi was funny
- My Least Favourite Beyblade Episodes (In no particular order):
- "The Battle of America" (Beyblade S1) -
TBH, I don't hate this episode, it's an okay episode but I do think it's my least favourite of the S1 episodes. I like seeing Steve break after being told constantly to keep his cool and the battle was okay but I found the battle between Ray and Eddy to be complete baloney. Ray was such a badass in the previous tournament but he was made to be unbelievably pathetic here. Like, I get that Max needs to be the one who wins the American Tournament and I'm not asking for Ray to win the match, but I wish Ray at least held up longer instead of being beaten in like two seconds in both rounds!
- "The Power Half Hour!!!" ...worst episode ever (Beyblade V-Force) -
Okay, I've ranted about this episode constantly and how much I think it's the absolute WORST episode of any Beyblade series and the only episode to frustrate me but I suppose I should explain myself so get ready for some whining haha. As you all know, I HATE this episode... they completely messed up the moral and the characters are completely idiotic or unlikeable here.
Okay so this episode is supposed to teach Tyson that modifying your attack ring is wrong and that they shouldn't be doing it, but there's just one problem, one teeny problem... the characters modify their beys all the time!!! That's pretty rich coming from the rest of the team, especially Kenny. Like I could understand if Tyson used something ridiculous like a giant heavy metal clocktower gear for his attack ring or something but all they did was modify his attack ring to make it slightly bigger and more aggressive. I love how in the previous season, a bey with a modified spring on it (Kenny's Hopper), a bey with ball bearings modified on them (Max's first bey), a bey made out of wool (Bobby from Spin Shepherd), a bey that's wider than Tyson's modifications (Trypio), a bey with three-layered attack rings (Tryhorn) are perfectly fine but as soon as Tyson makes his attack ring slightly bigger, then he's cheating. WHAT KIND OF DOUBLE STANDARDS IS THAT?!!! I'm sorry but that's dumb. Hell, in the next season they made a completely new Beyblade system (Hard Metal System) but according to Kenny, that's perfectly fine and not cheating. How hypocritical can they be?! Also, this isn't some tournament where you need to have fair play, this is a battle to save a bunch of manipulated kids from suffering the same trauma as Wyatt so rules shouldn't even matter. Give Tyson a very brief upgrade and just tell him not to use it in tournaments. And for the record, I'm not against them teaching characters cheating is wrong, I'm against how awful the execution is.
Tyson is completely unlikeable, spouting the jerk attitude as usual and going with the annoyingly repetitive "you just don't get it, do you?!" whenever things don't go his way and the rest of the Bladebreakers are completely idiotic hypocrites who don't realise that their beys were also modified. I'll give Hilary a pass since she hasn't been around the sport for long but the rest of the team. nah! When an episode makes Hilary in V-Force the best character, that's not a good thing. I also love that it's Ozuma who has to teach Tyson that cheating is wrong by modifying his bey, Ozuma... whose notorious for cheating himself.
There is nothing good about the episode. I would rather watch the whole of Zero-G and BeyRaiderz than this one episode. If you liked the episode, that's fine but personally, it's the worst of the worst and you couldn't convince me otherwise.
- "The Brazillian Trap" (Metal Fight Beyblade Explosion) -
It has Enzo, I hate Enzo. I'll give merit that he's a villain and does a good job as being such but he's easily the most annoying character in Beyblade. Whilst the team do give a rather tragic backstory as they're mostly poor, it doesn't excuse his actions and because he's so smug and bratty, he's very hard to sympathise with. I wanted Yu to get his revenge on them after he was trashed by the whole team and got his bey destroyed but unfortunately, he gets beaten easily again and his bey broken... again. Yeah, Masamune did beat Enzo but it was very unsatisfying since he didn't even seem bothered. This is why I watch one of Zero-G's episode "The Ultimate Emperor of Destruction: Bahamoote", it has Kira physically hurting the Garcias with his bey's power and normally I don't condone violence but it's strangely cathartic to rewatch so idc.
- "Four Hearts" (Metal Fight Beyblade 4D) -
4D is mostly average so it's hard to pick my least favourite, so I picked the one I found the most boring. I remember seeing the trailer for this back then and thought to myself "Oh here we go, Ginga is going to beat Chris" and of course he did, big surprise. This isn't surprising since it happens with Ginga all the time anyway but I put this one up only because Ginga blamed Chris for abandoning his former friends when it was actually the other way around... and he never apologised for it either... yay.
- "The Ironclad Golem" (Metal Fight Beyblade Zero-G) -
Much like Chouzetsu, Zero-G has a nasty habit of simply throwing away characters to the side like dead waste, once their bey has been advertised and this has to be the worst one yet. We get an episode dedicated to the Unabara brothers and seeing an episode focused on Eight is extremely rare so I was a bit excited when I first saw it. We do see that Kite and Eight get into an argument and Eight actually pretending to be his brother when newcomer, Yoshio wants to battle Kite's defense. Of course, Eight gets beaten by Yoshio but that's to be expected so you'd think this would be a good focus episode for Kite to become stronger for his brother, right? Unfortunately, no because Kite easily resolves his argument with Eight and after all the build up, he loses badly to Yoshio as well, stripping all the potential for his character growth and instead, it's Zero who gets the chance to beat Yoshio which honestly isn't fair. Kite was just advertising bait for Goreim and it just felt like a slap in the face. I don't care if Zero is the main character, why does he get to defeat all the newcomers?! Let the other characters (besides Zero and Shinobu) get their chance to trash newcomers.
- "Full Strength, For Real!" (Beyblade Burst) -
It was very hard to pick which is my least favourite episode of Burst from S1 since I actually don't hate any of them. They mostly range from being average to good episodes, with no episodes where I said "wow, this sucked" so I just went with this one. I like the idea of two long time rivals, Valt and Rantaro finally decking it out to claim the semi-finals spot. My issue was that Rantaro was absolutely pathetic (a trend that continues later on), he didn't have any upper hand against Valt whatsoever. I wish Rantaro created a new technique in this episode, which is how he was able to beat Valt in the 2nd round but instead, Valt just messes up which made Rantaro's "win" a bit insulting IMO. The battle itself was pretty cool but I felt so bad for Rantaro here.
- "BC Sol: A Team Divided" (Beyblade Burst God) -
I had a good concept, the team falls apart because the ace member left the group leaving the incompetence on their own. Unfortunately, it's ruined by one of my least favourite characters, Trad, who will happily blame Valt and Rantaro for all their mistakes but will not bat an eye on Stan's mistakes, even treating him like he's the victim. I wish the whole team were told off so Stan's ego would be questioned and that he would develop somewhat later on but that didn't happen, or at least it wasn't that noticeable. I also didn't like how absolutely pathetic the team was, not even being able to win a single point. I get they're trying to show the BC Sol team without Free are a bunch of incompetent misfits but they hardly tried to come up with ways of working together (though TBF, Valt probably couldn't think of ideas). I don't think the episode was that bad, it was just ruined by really stupid parts.
- "Fusion Bey! Aeclipse!!" (Beyblade Burst Super-Z) -
Surprisingly don't have Super-Z episodes I hate so I just went with the most forgettable one as well as the one with wasted potential. We could've had a lot of interesting moments with Count Night but too bad he was just quickly beaten and done with before we got to know him. The battle was okay, but it's a little underwhelming that after the build up in this episode where Aiga battles and wins against a bey with similar techniques to Dead Hades, Aiga still didn't win a single point against Hearts later on (though TBF, Aiga did need to develop later on so there's that). I don't hate the episode still, it's just not that great IMO.

I think all the episodes are good, maybe you are just not that big of a blader but me, I am.

People hate/don't like episodes because they think the episodes could've been better if it had an extra element to it. And being a blader is not about liking episodes, it's about knowing the ups and downs of every part and learning to make combos and perfecting different launch techniques like the sliding shoot/rush launch.

I really like episode 49 in BeyBurst.
RE: Best/Worst Beyblade Episodes - Matricuous - Feb. 05, 2020
While I am not a fan of the shows, I must admit some things really stand out;
Beyarena designs from the first Bey series (+soundtrack) really get things pumped and interesting, but my favourite episode is actually from Metal Fury, 138.
They nailed Kenta's character arc, who lost more than any other protagonist but kept on fighting, even if futile ( + the Kenta - Ryuga relationship really pays off).
PS: Another episode I kinda liked was Tsubasa vs Ryuga round 2 (Metal fusion) since it, unlike most of Metal fusion serial, has some strategy (and a good build up) to it.
Just my biased opinions ?
RE: Best/Worst Beyblade Episodes - BloodyPhoenix - Feb. 05, 2020
I loved Aiger's Turbo Resonance because the animations were really well done and you could finally see how Aiger had grown as a character.
RE: Best/Worst Beyblade Episodes - VileYuzu - Feb. 05, 2020
i dont remember what the episode number is, but in metal fight explosion when ryuga comes in and takes out all of those random guards by casually hand spinning l-drago is one of my favourite badass moments in the entire series
RE: Best/Worst Beyblade Episodes - SeaBASS90 - Feb. 08, 2021
Well the funniest moments in Beyblade are when Joshu is on screen. That's it. Cracks me up every time.
RE: Best/Worst Beyblade Episodes - NoNotYou - Feb. 08, 2021
When someone says least favorite beyblade episode, my mind can't help but wander to that one episode of metal fusion (I think it was episode 9 or 19) where it was just a 100% filler episode full of benkei and kenta acting more weird than usual and treating customization like it was a new concept. As for favorite i'm not really sure honestly.
