I wouldn't be surprised if they did, acutally. Given that the battle is outside the scope of the tournament, they wouldn't incur any negative side effects on their standing in the tournament.

Exactly, it really doesn’t make a difference since it’s not occurring in the tournament. Heck, I bet he’ll beat them multiple times.

I doubt that he can’t win a single battle against them. If the episode pans out with being composed of mostly battles then I bet he will beat them at least once.
