Chapter 4
My 8th 1st day
Ignoring what I’ve just experienced in the last chapter, everything went fine... Except when it didn’t. I almost got late because I thought I could go walking to there in 10 minutes, turns out I can’t, but it’s the first day anyways.
I enter the school with 1 minute left and dashes through the place, eventually I find the classroom and the bell rings. “Just in time” I say to myself. As I’m looking around, I see a bunch of people, mostly strangers, and... Sarah?
- Hey, Sarah! – I say, waving at her
- Max? – She says, a little confused – Wait a second, does that means...
- Were on the same class! – We both say together
That was a big coincidence, there was at least five other 8th year classes, and I could go in any of these. Anyways, there was also Kevin and Callum (unsurprisingly). As the teacher arrives, we all sit in your places except me of course. I stand there and I can hear some whispers like: “Who’s she” or “Is she new?”, the teacher put her things on her table and then says to the class:
- Ok class, calm down. This is Max, she’s new and I’ll let her introduce herself.
- Oh, umm... My name is Max and I... Nevermind... – I say, then walking towards an empty chair.
The teacher tries to make me say more things, but all she could take from me was my name, age, and my hobbies, which are 3d printing and blading, she then just gives up and starts talking about vectors (she’s a math teacher). I’ll just skip the boring part because I doubt anyone wants to hear about what I’m learning at school. Some classes later and the bell rings, meaning it’s the lunchbreak, I go sit somewhere outside with Sarah and Kevin, Callum just disappeared as soon as we left the classroom. While I’m talking with them, a trio comes near us, there was a guy and two girls, the guy says:
- Hello, I’m Tyson! and these two are Ashley and Anna – He says, then looks at Sarah and Kevin – I see you already knows the copycat and the weakling.
- Seriously? Just because I took Valkyrie and Longinus as inspiration? – Sarah says – And Kevin isn’t weak!
- He lost to everyone here. - Anna says – so you’re wrong.
Sarah is getting a little bit impatient, ready to just beat them. I decide to step in:
- What do you mean? And why you’re being so mean?
- It’s nothing personal, is just the truth. – He replies
Sarah is basically ready to give him a big punch, but Kevin says:
- If you’re sure about that, why don’t we battle?
- You would lose, why you want to lose? – Tyson asks
- What can I say, maybe losing is my hobby – Kevin replies, with a smile – But if I win, you’ll need to leave us alone, deal?
Tyson seems reluctant at first but accepts it. Sarah was nervous about that. At first Sarah seems confused, but then just goes with it:
- Let’s go to the arena then – I says, and then start walking.
- If you really want this, let’s do it – Tyson says, confident.
We all go towards the arena, while walking there Kevin starts talking with Sarah. Sarah says it is a bad plan, Kevin says that he got it in the bag, obviously it leads nowhere. Once we get there, a crowd gets around us, probably just curious people. Both Kevin and Tyson get ready to launch and Tyson decides to open his mouth.
- Last chance of surrender, you and I both know you’re going to lose.
- Then I’ll give it a shot. – Kevin replies, still with the smile – Losing is my deal anyways.
Everybody seems confused, even I. I know he lost to me on our first battle, but is him that weak? He looks very confident for someone that supposedly is weaker than everybody.
Anyways, the countdown starts, and both pull out powerful launches. While Tyson’s bey is rushing around the stadium while Khepri is standing in the middle.
- Now Tartarus, go for Banish Launch! – Tyson says, as Tartarus start doing a stronger flower pattern.
- Khepri! Scarab Recoil! – Kevin says
Tartarus hits Khepri and both beys are sent flying to the wall, Tartarus instantly loses its flower pattern while Khepri goes for the middle again, now rounder than before. Tyson seems to be surprised that it didn’t burst yet. Kevin was still in the game, and he was playing it defensively. Khepri blocks all Tartarus attacks with ease while Tartarus was losing gas. Kevin looks at Tyson and says, with a smile:
- I thought I was meant to lose, but I’ll take the win anyway. – Then looks at Khepri – Now Khepri! Strain Boost!
- I won’t lose that easily! Tartarus! – Tyson yells – Banishing Knockout!
Both beys receive a speed boost and clashes, but Tartarus got burst. Everyone got shocked, you could hear the birds from outside because of the silence.
- With a burst finish, the winner is... Kevin Drewitt... – Says Ashley
- That must have been a fluke! – Tyson says – Let’s battle again!
- Believe in what you want to – Kevin replies – and I would battle you again, but I’m going to hang out with Max and Sarah instead.
He makes a “come” signal with his hand and we just followed him. Sarah was shocked that he pulled out a burst, normally the reverse happens. They start discussing again:
- Why you didn’t tell us that you’re not weak! – says Sarah – I mean, not like you were weak, is just that... You know what I meant.
- Listen, I was lying about it, just a little bit – He replies – also, it’s not like that’s a big of a deal.
They continue arguing until we get to the bey park. As we are walking towards the arena, Callum is there, waiting. He spots us and stands up, then points his bey towards me, on which I reply:
- You’ve waited this battle the entire day, now it’s the time. – I say, also pointing my bey – Let’s do it.
Callum silently nods. we both grab your launchers and go to the stadium, meanwhile Sarah was still discussing with Kevin about how friends need to tell the truth to each other and other stuff like that.
- I guess they will just be arguing while we battle... – I say
We swap bey, Charybdis seems to be a bey similar the King/Kraise Kerbeus, with a better version of Polish and a smaller Orbit. Eventually they stop arguing and Sarah says:
- You need to pay attention, He’s very strong!
- Yeah, I know. He’s rank 12th on the US – I reply – But I’ll try to win.
We swap back and get into position, then the start the countdown, and I’m pretty sure that I won’t need to repeat that for the 5th time... ok, I will repeat that.

LJ-Blader certainly got first place, but I can't decide if LegendJustice or Kiryu Kazuma , mostly because I can see both characters fit very well. So here's is the bracket:
1st place: LJ-Blader
2nd Place: Kiryu Kazuma
3rd Place: LegendJustice
(lol, that's basically the order of the submissions)
1st place character will appear soon, as for 2nd and 3rd, they will appear later on. Maybe as friends, maybe as enemies, only future will tell.
