RE: Winning Combinations at WBO Organized Play Events - DeceasedCrab - Oct. 19, 2019 (Oct. 19, 2019 8:38 PM)Infinite.Zero Wrote: I'm struggling to understand why Around was used on Ardmore Blader's LS combo. Any thoughts why he used it vs the everyday 0Wall setup? Why ask me? Ask Ardmore. He could answer better than I. I assume he used it because it has decent amounts of utility in opposite spin, and decent utility in same spin. It has some decent weight and it's okay for spin steal combos. It's not a bad disc on Lord or Judgement because they have burst resistors, and not a bad disc on ChoZ-(A/V/S) because they have burst stoppers. It's a bad disc without those because the teeth don't seem to connect as well with it on, I think it's adding a bit of unusual space that keeps tips and layers from seating correctly. For a hilariously bad time, try Wizard Fafnir (non-Gen) on Around Bearing! I will post a tournament report more about that soon. I think it went very well. We had 28 players with several new players. We completed the entire tournament in 3 hours with “pick 3 choose 1” format for stage one. The 3 hours also accounts for me figuring out a 9 way tie and doing a couple of tie breaker matches. RE: Winning Combinations at WBO Organized Play Events - DeceasedCrab - Oct. 20, 2019 Oh my god, that 9 way tie is giving me a horrible feeling just looking at it. The TB values alone are a nightmare. You have 7 people contending for 4 slots. I'm going to try to check the logic and see if I come up with the same results as you for practice. I HATE our tiebreaker logic! It's such a freaking nightmare! --- I decided to practice finals tallying so it stresses me out less next time around. So the top 4, there's no tie. Jojo, Justj11, poliswag, and apple certainly advance. 5 Shindog 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 2 10.0 0 beat lego and sidestep. 6 Kingz_hero_ 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 2 10.0 0 beat chaos and lego 7 Maxkun 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 2 9.0 0 beat Alta, but not anyone else with 3-2 their TB value appears to be wrong? 8 Chaoshero 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 2 9.0 0 beat Alta and Sidestep 9 Mitchjett 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 1 10.0 0 beat Maxkun 10 Alta 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 1 8.0 0 beat ARuiz 11 Legomaster7777 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 1 8.0 0 hasn't beaten anyone else with 3-2, TB value appears to be wrong? 12 Sidestep 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 0 7.0 0 13 ARuiz18 3 - 2 - 0 0 3.0 0 7.0 0 Here's the rules on that section: "3. Buchholz Look at the Bucholz column in Challonge. Whichever player(s) have the higher score(s) here will advance to the finals. Challonge TB column However, if a player with a lower Buchholz value has beaten one with the same win record and a higher Bucholz value head-to-head during the First Stage, that player advances over the one with the higher Buchholz value. If a player advances using this method, they should be placed below any other participants with tied records and a higher Bucholz that they did not have match history with." No one among the tied people beat Shindog, Kingz_hero, and Mitchjett with their Buchholz of 10. They should definitely advance. At this point, anyone among the remnants who beat Maxkun or Chaoshero should advance ahead of them. Which is no one. So that means Maxkun or Chaoshero goes to the finals. Tiebreak match between those two. It looks like at the tournament, the finals seeding went Jojo, justj11, poliswag, apple, shindog, kingz, mitch, and the 8th slot went to Chaoshero. I can only assume that Chaos and Maxkun had a tiebreaker? I'm at least glad I got similar results. I mistakenly played a tie breaker with Kingz to decide seeding. I don’t think I needed to as I have a higher burst format rank (“4. Seeding”) that should seed me ahead of KingZ. I forgot about that and played. I happen to win so I avoided the screw up. This took me 20+ mins to figure out and double check myself. I still basically missed something by not using rank.... RE: Winning Combinations at WBO Organized Play Events - Mr. Palazzo - Oct. 20, 2019 Will the website ever update the rankings again? Without updating, the older players without a doubt have an unfair advantage when it comes to seeding procedures in the WBO due to others never being able to advance properly. If it isn't going to update, then I'd support the tie breaker idea to determine top 8, if needed at the time. RE: Winning Combinations at WBO Organized Play Events - joyos - Oct. 22, 2019 Barreto has explained in the past that the PR scene is very much in the growing stages. So that may explain certain "weird" combos from scenes that aren't the hotbeds that we are used to seeing winning combo lists from. RE: Winning Combinations at WBO Organized Play Events - DeceasedCrab - Oct. 22, 2019 (Oct. 20, 2019 4:32 PM)Mr. Palazzo Wrote: Will the website ever update the rankings again? If it isn't going to update, then I'd support the tie breaker idea to determine top 8, if needed at the time. Please exercise patience. Tournaments can be pre-processed by their organizers, but supposedly only contributors or higher can finalize processing of tournaments, unless I've heard wrong. There are only so many people of that role or higher, and they're busy and have their own lives to live. I'd love to help chip away at the backlog, but as far as I understand it, I cannot. If you read the organizer's guide, you see that the seeding benefit during tiebreaks is almost non-existent; seed order only applies to the ordering of seeding in the finals, and does not contribute towards whether or not a blader enters the finals. Anyone at a tournament with enough wins will go to the finals. Beyrank only affects the first round seeding (in swiss), which isn't as much of an advantage as you think.
