Thanks Incomniac., I appreciate it Smile
I should probably edit the OP and make a list of people that have joined. And Serpentrione, of course! Haha, I'll add you to said list.
Due to my intense boredom, I'll try this against any and all better judgement. I need some writing practice anyway.

I second this, add me in as well Smile
Wonderful! Glad to see more people are getting interested. I think I'm nearing a cutoff number soon, if this keeps up. I'd rather not put a limit, but I may need to cut off entries soon because I'll be going away to Michigan from the 22nd-25th and will be busy with finals after that.
Need to practice my writing, so joining this would be a good help to me. Add me in!
Typo for my name in the OP..
Good to see Temporal signing up Grin
Oh, shoot! Sorry! My language is limited to English and only a little Spanish so my writing isn't as good for Japanese, haha. I'll change that now though, thanks for pointing it out.
I think that I'll join in. I'm rusty, and I need to get my creative oils flowing again. When does the tourney start?
Sign me up, although I suck at writing stories, I think I have good ideas Smile
I'm shooting for the middle-end of May, but we'll see how she goes.
Nonsense! Don't be so hard on yourself. If you don't keep your head up, how can you expect to write something good? If you really want help, you can always ask, by the way. I'd be happy to offer tips :-)
I'll add you both to the list, though.
Thanks for the help, Sparta! I'll see what I can do in this tournament, good luck to all!
Am I too late?
Actually, I was just about to post something about this crashing and burning and needing more people until you showed up, so definitely not! I'll add you to the list Smile
Wow 13 people is pretty good. Sparta, have you decided how many people will we wait for before starting the tournament? And are will still deciding what format to use?
I honestly just came back from a pretty long hiatus and checked in after I remembered that this was happening. Good to know that I was in time, and that this is still up and running. Looking forward to it.
Okay. I'm starting to get worried that I've waited too long on this, so we're just going to start with what we have.
Here's my plan:
The tournament will be single-elimination, bracket style, with one person getting a bye in the first round. Of course, it makes sense to give that bye to our defending champion, Temporal. As for everyone else, I will shuffle your names in my [still] lucky fedora and pick pairings to face off. Each round will have a topic, and the writer will have to write a piece of a story based on that topic. As brought to my attention last year, I will include the previous chapters of every writer's story in their thread. However, this is only for reference. The writer must be graded on his work in that chapter. With this in mind, the writers will not be able to be anonymous; this is why voting is limited to a panel of judges I have chosen, including myself. I feel like this is the fairest way to do it. The threads are for people to read and comment on the stories - and maybe, if someone makes a valid point or sees something that any of us missed, it could change who we vote for. So the people still get an influence on the voting (They can say whose they liked and why, but it doesn't count for votes).
I will announce the first round topic and pairings shortly, as soon as everyone checks in with me to make sure that they are all aware of the tournament kick-off. Good luck, and have fun!
Wow thanks Sparta! I can't wait for this to start.
Edit: so there will be a different topic for each match right?
Not each match, but each round; I'm too worried that if we do it by match, some people might complain that their topic was harder.
It's much simpler to judge, and much more fair if each participant has to work with the same concept.

Good question, though. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough.
Can't wait! I'm really excited!
I'm very excited as well! Hopefully I win ATLEAST one match, and... the topic is easy Tongue_out
I'm a little confused about how this works, but I'm looking forward to it! How long will we have to write a chapter per round though? I'm going to be working all day Monday-Friday, so I won't be able to get much done during the weekday.
Hmm...I'll have to come up with a word limit. I'd say no more than a page, but don't go crazy if you're a little over or under. Writing isn't something you can structure like that, but try to keep it around that length I suppose.

I just have to say: I'm pleasantly surprised by how quickly and how many people have checked in already. We might even be able to start this thing by next week!
Agh, why did Ga not sign up!? I read his last entry for the tournament I helped judge. I think I laughed out my spleen. This might be serious, guys.
Nice. It's up! Excited, indeed I am.
Ah, so we had to send you a private message to confirm participation, didn't notice that, sorry ^^"
