okay, tell me about your relationships Grin

either way you could always say, "i'd like to think it over"

don't take dating advice from a bunch of single people on a spinning top board
Asked out/dating = boyfriend/girlfriend status
Asked to go on date = two people going to a casual location fr casual interaction

Thinking is over is still like, too much pressure, mostly because a friendship and a relationship merit two completely different types of interaction. Surely the two can/should coincide to a certain level, but without chemistry, it's nothing. A date or two is a good wayto ease it through. Like a test drive.

It's kind of like cooking. You don't just flop a chicken in the oven. Should marinate it first. It makes it so much more satisfying.
(May. 05, 2009  11:51 PM)Pikachao Wrote: [ -> ]Why's this?

Getting "asked out" like that is horrible because you have to make a decision instantly and you don't get time to think, or bond with them at ALL.

I don't get why people do it... but anyways, this is just one opinion. Someone not liking something doesn't make them an idiot.
Uh, it's not that hard and it's not something you really need to think about. It's "yes" or "no." Then you get to know each other better during the date.

It's not like you have to be best friends with someone before you ask them out. If anything, that might just make it weirder if the other party sees it as a strictly platonic relationship.

this is an incredibly childish way to look at relationships and it's probably for the best that you're single

See dekailo's post. I wasn't talking about going on a date. =/

Brad, I'd rather not post that here if that's okay?

This is babyish stuff that happens. I doubt Dekailo still sees it this way from what I've heard. We were just explaining.
Um are you forgetting a certain someone who made this thread?!

We gave you advice.

No, I saw what you were responding to--asking a girl out.
Quote:Geeze, worst thing you can do is ask a girl out. Everyone that's ever asked me out I've turned down. Too much on spot pressure. That's a HUGE decision for me. It's like, I have to spot flirting with everyone?! Right then and there?!
There's nothing wrong with that; people do it all of the time. I don't see how this is "the worst thing you can do" when it's proven to be, uh, the most effective.
And here I was just winging everything.
Eh, just join us all on SAD.
Or better yet, ask her if she knows what SAD is (Ps. it's Singles Awareness Day).
I'll give up update on wether she likes what I said or not.

I like to know the people with which I associate. Mind you, this is targeted toward a high schooler. High schoolers generally get attached to their boyfriend/girlfriend quite quickly. I don't like leading people on.

I'm single because my interests are neither prodominate nor largely accepted in the area in which I live.
I ask this one girl out about every month and she either starts laughing or one of her friends tell me "yes" for her. :\ I get mad at this because they're acting like its such a big deal...

I mean, dude, you asked her out twice and she said no, right? You could always come clean with your feelings, but that's moreso closure for you. She's not going to drop to her knees and suddenly realize that the boy she's turned down twice is hot stuff. It'll probably just make things more awkward between the two of you.
I love how everyone makes such a big deal about high school relationships. It's blown way out of proportion to a life or death situation.

Just like Prom.
Strange thread ... anyway best of luck hope it goes well for you Smile

Is it a nervous, or hysterical laugh? Because if it is maybe you shouldn't ask her anymore.
this thread is frightening

Prom should be blown out of proportion IMO. It's the last of the high school drama.

Other than that, well, high school is just one huge land mark of drama of any sort. I'm pretty apathetic to the whole dating thing. I'm just waiting for someone to come and knock me off my feet. I don't think i'm going to find someone like that in my county let alone in my high school.

If you wait too long, there's a good chance it won't happen. From my (admittedly limited) understanding and experience, taking initiative is really important.

This. If Anne hadn't said she liked me, we wouldn't be together now.
