I think a lot of people on here aren't really "Kid friendly" or even "friendly" not naming names, but I think we all could learn to politely agree and then disagree instead of raging and saying "Stop posting. You're pathetic" This has been brought up many times and I have something to say. There's never a reason to get angry, no matter how stupid or annoying. Getting angry is immature, and there are whole youtube videos that make you laugh at people who get PO'd. My dad always says "It doesn't matter what situation, but anger is never the answer. It's showing that you have no control over your emotions and degrades you in society" maybe we don't have to be so mean to each other. How do you think "ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?! YOU'RE SO STUPID!" will appeal to some lil kid who wanders upon that post?
Actually, getting angry isn't immature. It's human nature. It is an absolute emotional obligation that will occur whether you like it or not. How one acts upon their anger is the keynote, and we do have users that respond to it improperly.

However, your motivation for making that post isn't even remotely veiled, and anger is really not what's being displayed in it. Being blunt is not being angry, and you, and several other posters in that thread, have 100% ignored polite, respectful mannerism. No, that doesn't necessarily justify public lashing, but it did work.

Tolerant behavior should always be our priority, but eventually, when people are straight-up ignoring others, getting rougher will be mandated. I personally believe it should be done in PM, but it's really out of my hands in that regard; I cannot control other people. I don't really find it necessary to be so disrespectful, and I feel that one can be respectful and blunt at the same time, but not everyone is such.

Perhaps listening the first hundred times something is said instead of waiting until someone gets impolite on you will be a priority from now on.

I'm not sure, I think it would discourage them from improving their writing tbh. Maybe you should tone your critiquing down a bit? After all, not everyone in the YC forum asked for your opinion.
Hmm...OK, I agree with most of what you said, but for one thing.

The PMing. Yes! It keeps from the thread getting derailed, and lets you two work it our yourselves. Wish it wouldn't happen in the first place, but from what you said (I have a high respect for you and what you say) it can't be helped.

The one disagreement I have: I believe anger can be controlled. I say it's a useless emotion because it doesn't make you look any better, and it gets you into trouble. Let's say you're at a job interview. The guy reviewing you says he doesn't like the essay you wrote (Just please bear with me). He says he thought it was boring and unexplanatory. This makes you very, very angry. Here's the scenarios:

1. You politely tell him "Hey, thanks for your input," and when you go home you punch the carp out of your pillow, or maybe go write in a journal.

2. You climb across the desk and attack the guy. You both end up in the hospital.

3. Your face turns red and you scream "Hey! What's wrong with you, that was a fantastic essay! You're an immature idiot!" then he starts ranting on you, you both escalate, and suddenly you reach across the desk-and you still end up in the hospital.

You see, look where it gets you. Extreme? Yeah, sorry about that. But it's true, look where they ended up. Because this is online, people feel completely protected and safe and feel like they can really rant on people. I am most certainly not a fan. I make sure I only do and say on here what I would do or say if we were all face-to-face.

I could bring up a few posts where I said I wanted to work on that. It's where I need to improve, and I've said it quite a lot. Besides, they say "Hey review my story and say what you want," then it's "Well you're sutpad, my writings gr8!" and stuff.

But yeah, that's something I'm working on.
I have no idea where you're getting anger from. How is that relevant? If you have some personal anger management problems you need to resolve, I suggest therapy because even considering attacking a potential employer is not a normal mindset. Clearly something is bothering you, Sparta, but we can't exactly help you here. It's also not the topic to discuss your personal problems.

That is exactly how I feel whenever Im getting rant on. Not trying to encourage the argument but that, I found was strongly agreed. Like, you don't know me and stop acting like the tough guy behind the computer. That's final. I totally agree what you're saying there.
...We were just talking about it, weren't we? Hazel and I? Or did I miss it. Sorry if I did!

Nope, I don't Joyful_2 I just think people could be nicer around here, that's all. Excuse me for thinking we can all try to be happier, nicer bladers.

Actually, I've seen it happen once or twice (Youtube of course. Not in person Tongue_out). But I said I was exaggerating for the purpose of expressing a point. That's it. Not a personal problem, just something general about this forum I'd like to point out.

@® Haha, thanks. Yeah, I just wanted to get something off my mind that I'd been seeing.

Internet anonymity and its empowerment is something absolutely everyone is already aware of. I see no reason to harp on it as if it is new information.

Every single person that posts on a forum is guilty of it. Either to the extent of being more social than they really are, being more open, being more aggressive, etc. it simply happens.

As for the bolded part, you just sound absolutely ridiculous. No one needs to know anyone to reprimand specific instances of behavior. Your reasons are without meaning, here.
And both people need to stop acting like the "tough guys", not just the person who is not you. This is one of the points of this topic.
Hypocritical of me as it is to say this, I'll keep it short and not name names (as it goes for everyone to varying extents): less egos over childrens spinning tops.

If we all dropped the egos it'd probably fix most of the issues this thread is about. It's very hard to realise when your ego is out of hand, and even harder to reign it in (as I am finding), but we should all take some time for healthy introspection, for the good of everyone.

Yes, hypocritical, but someone needed to (re?)say it.

Thank you.

You rock for posting that. We're all here to have fun and not argue, so no need to let egos take over (I'm hypocritical too, but I'm working on it).

I think the discussion for this issue is good, but let's let it rest and talk about something else (I think we can all agree on Th!nks answer).
You know what's something I've noticed and reported in the past couple days?

In ""Build Me A Combo! #2"", I've been checking people's profiles before I give them combos. The reason is because when I go there, I often see that their posts are mostly in Build Me a combo, and within a couple days. It's usually a member with ~10-25 posts, and say ~7-17 of them are in build me a combo, and of those 10-17, there's ~4-7 within two or three days. Those are just random numbers, but that's the general area I've noticed.

I just report them, and I think people should probably check the person's profile first if they wish to help the person and not waste their time.

It's not only this, but there are several users that have also just been ignoring Build Me a Combo and going straight to "Ask a Question, Get an Answer!" - and no one's been telling them not to post there. There's one user, whose name I won't throw out, in fact, that has posted about ten or more Customizations Forum-oriented questions in that thread, and had no one do anything about it.

It's really becoming a question of whether or not anyone's actually paying attention before answering a question, or thinking about the subject matter they should be answering.

People never learn, do they?

I'm sorry if it seems like I point out every little fault people make, but these two should at least have the common sense to know they're SPAM bots. The SPAM bots thread is stickied for a reason... :\

I posted on there for the title. And giving the guy sympathy for his hard work, I mean that was a long post.
The best you could try to do for someone who gave a lot of his time for a post like that?

He's a SPAMmer.

He does't deserve any sympathy. Serious
It's not even a he or she.

It's a bot.

So much for your sympathy, might as well go tell a wall that you love it

Actually, if it was a bot it wouldn't be able to crack the Captcha code during registration. That's just based off of what Heart said in the SPAM bots thread.

But yeah, having sympathy for a SPAMmer is like having sympathy for a wall

Most forum-based spambots and advertisement spamming people just copy and paste.
I dunno if it's even people...

I wonder if there are any SPAM BOTS that are programmed to find forums and create anonymous accounts and post things. Forums all have pretty simple programming, and it would explain for why sometimes they are completely in the wrong thread.

Then you get Rup123, who posted buying and selling threads for beyblades. That had to have been a person-unless it was completely coincidental that he wanted to sell beys and happened to join the WBO.

Are there any basic rules of thumb we can use to determine if it's just a person that doesn't know what they're doing as opposed to a BOT (Besides what they put in the OP)?
Most SPAMmers always have links in their posts or in their signature.

rup123 was indeed a real person.
Spambots should be obvious, they will just post ads for stuff.

And I recall reading that captcha isn't foolproof...

I'm quite disappointed at the state of the "Introduce Yourself" forum.
New members type short messages, that don't really give much about themselves.
I think this needs to be stricter.

Another thing is, they ask questions that would be better answered in other threads, like "how do I join a tournament".
http://worldbeyblade.org/Thread-State-of...tory-Forum

Pretty much covered in that thread.
I'm quite disheartened at the atmosphere of the customization forums. I don't mind it when people neutrally tell someone that their combo is bad, but most threads have been turning into elitist hissy fits with people going into offtopic rants and bringing drama into what otherwise would've been a simple testing thread. I get it, some people make bad customs, but that doesn't mean you have to look like a ranting version of Yu.
