Brand new to beyblade: Question about metal vs plastic vs burst, etc - madmonkey7 - Apr. 08, 2020

Hi, I am pretty much brand new to beyblade other than playing casually as a kid.  Randomly I just had the desire to get into it again.

It seems like there are different types of beyblades like metal, plastic, and burst? Maybe there are more, I'm not sure, I'm trying to figure it all out.  I'm basically just trying to decide which kind of beyblade I should buy.  What are the differences? Are their advantages? Is one more cost effective than the others? Any info would be helpful because I am in the dark lol

well you got the 3 generations right. and as you can probably assume plastic beys are mostly plastic, metal beys are mostly metal (with a few exceptions on certain parts of course)
as for burst you have a layer (sometimes has metal on it) and metal disc, and driver (tip) and each new season of each generation brings a twist to the beys, to spice em up. and as you can guess metal beys can beat a lot of plastic ones I believe (at least the season 3 or 4D metal beys) however they do have versions of plastic beys with a lot of metal (which they refined to make the  metal system). and as for burst the first season was just like I told you, with the second one adding "God Abilities" "gimmicks", third added metal to the layers, and fourth split the layer up into 3 parts. layer base, weight, and chip. I would tell you about the fifth season of bursts system, but the fifth season just started so I would like to get a better understanding of it myself. Plastic beys sell for pretty high prices, certain metal beys do as well but most of them are fairly modest prices for the most part. as for burst the beys are more recent so they're around 20 ish mostly. and obviously the virus is skyrocketing prices, so my estimates are probably way lower than the actual prices at least for now. and this is an important thing to consider when buying, which are the 2 leading bey manufacturers. Hasbro beys are more coming in local stores outside of japan and retail for about 10 dollars for single packs and 15 ish for double. Hasbro usually adds their own gimmicks to be like the anime, which sets it apart from Takara Tomy beys. Takara Tomy is primarily Japanese but you can find them online. rather than changing the actual bey to fit with the anime gimmick, they just make accurate representations of each bey. Most people prefer Takara Tomy, but it doesn't matter what beys you decide to get. hopefully I wasn't to confusing here lol. and most important: LOOK OUT FOR FAKES. AKES CONTAIN LARGE AMOUNTS OF LEAd WHICH COULD LEAD TO LEAD POISONING AND YOU DIEING GETTING GAME ENDED IN REAL LIFE. STAY SAFE.

RE: Brand new to beyblade: Question about metal vs plastic vs burst, etc - JavariTheChamp - Apr. 08, 2020

Also plastics in the anime are made of a hard metal alloy. Only the toys are until you get to hms for some parts. Don’t let they name deceive you because they can give metal blades a run for their money. Also don’t invest in hasbro for Beyblade Burst unless it’s turbo or evolution. But I’d mainly stick to Takara tomy.

I’d say start with Burst for now and transition into the older series blades. And for blades you might want to get, there are threads in wbo talking about that. And also, when you get your blade, don’t constantly click your launcher after it’s locked in, or else you’ll damage it. I’d recommend buying Burst Beyblade From Chouzetsu, GT, and the brand new Sparking. A few I recommend may be Cho Z Valkyrie, Master Diabolos(comes with lr launcher), Prime Apocaloye, Big Bang Genesis, Lord Spriggan, Cho Z Spriggan. And I’d recommend buying super king sparking launcher( sparks won’t hurt), launcher grip is optional, lr launcher, a stadium for sure. And don’t buy beyloggers, they aren’t needed and are really a money waste, and possibly buy a digital sword launcher too.

Now I will talk about types. There are 4 Types, Attack, Balance, Defense,Stamina. Balance is... well all of em(doesn’t mean it’s the best, there is no best type) Stamina is a great at stamina, stay away from blades like crash Ragnaruk which is a stamina. Defense, which is great at holding its own. Attack for trying to get the burst. So the chart is(This doesn’t apply every time, as some blades from other types are better than others, even with a disadvantage) Attack is great against stamina, disadvantaged to defense, stamina is advantaged go defense, and balance can work any way. Some Beyblades also have mode changes, some balance blades have attack and defense mode, or stamina and defense, ect ect.

Now about drivers, drivers can be in different materials like rubber(usually attack driver), plastic, or metal. Attack drivers consist usually of rubber( for speed and crazy attack, EX:Xceed Driver) A great plastic driver is called Destroy Dash. And another great plastic driver is named atomic, it’s a defense driver. A metal driver is called yard metal, it’s pretty good. Now see with rubber drivers, you might not have the best stamina, but your attack will be great. And also, if you see ‘ next to a driver, it’s an upgraded driver, that usually has better Burst resistance, and maybe for rubber drivers, a different type of softer rubber. Softer rubber is generally better for attack. About the discs, they kinda sorta got discontinued but not. Starting at gt, they started getting implemented into the drivers. Although in got, it got implemented into nightmare Longinus layer. And now In sparking. It can be put into a single chassis, but isn’t in the double chassis. So it’s basically semi discontinued. For layers, some layer rings are better for attack and defense, and some chip cores add more weight or decrease weights. It’s all about mix and match for an ultimate combo. And more things to look out for is the left spin blade, they are usually good, some aren’t like wizard Fafnir. But left spin blades are great, especially Longinus line, it beats out some good right spin attack types, and attacks head on as it’s counter clockwise, and also nullifies the spin steal affect from Fafnir. Speaking of that, Fafnir has rubber to spin steal against right spin blades, it can’t against left. Another thing you want to watch out is for fakes, no need to go too much, some packaging looks nearly identical. But if you see like a Geist Fafnir for like 9 dollars, 99% of time that’s a total scam. Also I’d say stray away from imperial dragon, I got it, it’s not as good as it seems, seems cool at first until the ignition driver cucks out on you. Turns it basicslly trash. The imperial base isn’t isn’t that good as sure it might have a cool gimmick, but it makes the Beyblade burst more. That’s why I suggested master Diabolos, plus it comes with an lr beylauncher. Also as a blader, you will for sure see one of your Beyblade break in your first year, rather it’d be a teeth falls off, driver breaks( rip my god Valkyrie which broke to legend Spriggan), right side of the Beyblade breaks( rip my legend Spriggan that got right side broken off by god Valkyrie Unhappy( ) and also there are some channels you want to watch

You’d want to watch, LeoBurst, Zankye, BlastZoneKid,BeybladeGeeks,LeftBurst,Goob, many more great awesome channels. And you will see unboxings, funny videos, combo testing, and more. So it’s a must have to watch them, plus zankye recently filled us in on a recap about future sparking releases if you haven’t seen that. Another thing to know about is that, when buying hasbro, it’s usually going to lose against Takara tomy. Don’t get me wrong, hasbro can be fun, but I would recommend in an official competive tournament unless you want fun. Hasbro is fun, TT is fun and competive. Just stay away from hyper sphere please, it’s such a downgrade, especially with sword valtryek. And also, they dub the names different in America. So Valkyrie is valtryek. Spriggan is spryzen. Longinus is luinor, although some may stay the same like Fafnir. There are also 2 Beyblade mobile games, and 3 or 2 (I forgot) Nintendo Games for Beyblade Burst. They are all good, I do prefer the Nintendo games, they are also real to the TT counterpart.

There are also launching techniques. Like rush shoot, flash shoot, jet shoot. Counter break, southern cross shot. You wanna do the first 3 moves with an attack type blades, only not against stamina unless you hit it a lot, same with defense and the 2 last with a Beyblade That can. You can look on YouTube. Whatever you do, never do a regular flat launcher against a stamina or defense. You will waste all your energy and boom, you lose. Also about Burst, as the series progressed, bursts are harder to get. Don’t expect many bursts with sparking blades as to god blades

Finally, to the anime.
There Are 3 Main Series
Bakuten Shoot Beyblade
Metal Fight Beyblade(includes Zero G)
Beyblade Burst
Personally I had the whole metal series anime, there are a few characters I like. And the English voice for ginka and Kenta in metal fusion and master I don’t like. Although I do think Burst and bakuten shoot and far superior than metal fight. Although I do like the metal fight toys. But the zero g Beyblades, some look generic, I really like samurai Pegasus. And for bakuten shoot Beyblade, it’s a good series, people call it plastic gen which is fine, but when they word it like that, it makes it sound inferior to metal, which it isn’t, sure the Beyblades from before the engine gear(g revolution) may lose to metal fight. But not all. Especially HMS, they give them a good run for its money. The main character( Tyson/Takoa)blade is dragoon. The final form is Dragon Metal Storm Ultimate Version, if you don’t count Dragoon Metal Fighter. MFB Ginka has Pegasus. Final is Valt Owns Valkyrie. Latest is brave Valkyrie. Then you have Aiga for Burst season 3, he owns Achilles. Newest one so far is Union Achilles. Then you have drum. Owns Dragon(not dragoon) and it’s newest is Imperial Dragon. And the latest mains are 2 twins. Hyuga and Hikaru , they own Hyuga has Super Hyperion, Hikaru has King Helios. I know Burst has lots of main characters, my favorite for Burst is valt and hyuga. And one more thing, the Beyblade series aren’t connected. That’s why you don’t see Tyson or be celebrities in Burst, and have their Beyblades featured in the hall of fame from Burst season 1

Thanks for the response!  So which one do you think is more accessible for a beginner/casual? And which ones are more popular? I was thinking of buying some type of bundle on amazon or something.

Thanks for the detailed message!  I actually started watching beybladegeeks on youtube.  That is what started my interest!  Also i doubt i'll ever do any kind of customization.  Can you get these different types of drivers already on the bey? Which beys do you suggest that aren't too expensive?

RE: Brand new to beyblade: Question about metal vs plastic vs burst, etc - SupaDav03 - Apr. 08, 2020

I think if you are just blading for fun, go for whichever peaks your interest most. If you want to participate in tournaments and competitive play, then I’d suggest Burst followed by MFB. Plastic is probably out in that case.

Thanks for the detailed message!  I actually started watching beybladegeeks on youtube.  That is what started my interest!  Also i doubt i'll ever do any kind of customization.  Can you get these different types of drivers already on the bey? Which beys do you suggest that aren't too expensive?
For a beginner I would try to pick up a Takara Tomy battle set, you get a stadium 2 beys and 2 launchers. You can choose what generation or season it comes from of course.More popular choices would be something like the Beyblade Burst GT (season 4) triple set, however I believe launchers come separately as well as a stadium.

I would suggest definitely picking up a super Hyperion. It’s showing itself worthy one the best attack types. And especially with the Xceed driver

Although expect some orders not to come that fast as coronavirus is slowing it down, and is also making the prices rise a bit

I'd suggest Burst GT and Super King if you're into the competitive aspect. And if you are in for the fun of it, choose your own but I would still recommend Burst. Another thing to keep in mind is stay away from fakes.

Also if you ever try getting HMS blades, they are really expensive just to let ya know.
