Energy Layer - Shadow/Shining Amaterios - MonoDragon - Nov. 21, 2018

Quote:==Description==
Shadow/Shining Amaterios is an Attack Type Energy Layer that features a face on the left side, meant to represent this Layer's namesake; the Shinto Goddess of the Sun Amaterasu, and an overall pentagonal or star shape, made up of ten alternating blades. As part of the Cho-Z Layer System, Shadow/Shining Amaterios features metal in its design; lining the blades. The inclusion of metal makes the Layer heavier than most SwitchStrike/God Layers.

While the pentagonal shape and the Layer's strong teeth would imply high Burst and Knock-Out potential, the shape and number of blades means that each point of contact is at an obtuse angle which reduces recoil compared to the triangular Valkyrie line.

Like many other Cho-Z Layers, Shadow/Shining Amaterios can be fitted with a Level Chip that fits underneath the Layer, which can solve potential issues with imbalance.

Unlike its predecessor Shadow Amaterios, Shining Amaterios features much less intricate detail molding which creates more gaps. However these gaps are very shallow and small which creates no discernible difference in performance.

==Overall==
Due to the shallow gaps and obtuse angle, Shadow/Shining Amaterios lags behind Winning Valkyrie for Attack combinations.

As such, Shadow/Shining Amaterios is recommended for collection purposes only.
I'm putting this as Shadow/Shining Amaterios since they're pretty much the same Layer with the same performance (abysmal). When I'm putting this up on the wiki I'll edit the Shadow/Shining parts to match the page

don't forget the moving pieces on Shining αmaterios, which make it worse and break easily

There are no moving parts on Shining Amaterios

I think there might be. I remember seeing some difference in the spikes (not that they would make a huge difference of course)

I think it's those semi moving red spikes which are more like wobbly teeth.

Kimboslice said in his Shining Amaterios vs Archer Hercules video that a blade started moving only because it broke

That's what happened to some Shadow Amaterios layers, but Shining Amaterios is supposed to have them move, as pointed out in Takara Tomy's own videos.

You can see the third grey blade underneath the blue blade

Which is why I said the only difference between the two is less intricate molding on Shining

The blades in Shining are more easily movable and thus Shining is 1 gram

Does it still have some competitive use though? All you said bout that is that it lags behind wV

RE: Energy Layer - Shadow/Shining Amaterios - TheBladingCow - May. 29, 2019

Is this still good for Defense though? It kind of looks defensive to me but idk.

I agree with you here. Due to the strong teeth and relatively round shape, this layer should be good for defense combos, despite being outclassed at this point. Also, I think this layer is highly vulnerable to upper attack because of it's shape.

I have the Hasbro version, and the blades move.

The five different color blades extend outward when it spins. And when it's launched at an angle, the silver blades give it a really good upper attack without destabilizing itself.

If you use it right, it can beat revive pheonix.
