RE: Make your suggestions! - Arupaeo - Nov. 15, 2011

One of the things I wonder is whether TT might be willing to do a % of sales licensing agreement for the BB-10 stadiums once they have completed their production runs?

If so, I wonder if we (the WBO) might be able to enter into such an agreement with them. Plastic is cheap, and I bet we could pump those puppies out on a contract production basis to keep us in stadiums forever.

Has the WBO ever considered this or something like this?

RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Nov. 15, 2011

It seems... exceptionally difficult to negotiate, to say the least. I am not certain we have the resources(manpower wise - individuals to actually handle the agreement and such) for such a contract.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Arupaeo - Nov. 15, 2011

All you need is an MBA or two with training in international business. Hey, wait a minute... I'm one of those. Sorted.

OK, so you'll need a lawyer too, but those are a dime a dozen for contract review work... Oh, yeah, and you'll need someone on the ground to negotiate in China. All issues, granted, but there are firms that specialize in this sort of thing.

I recognize that overall this isn't an easy road to travel and that the WBO may not be ready to take on an endeavor like this today, but the day may come when it is.

A little long term planning and exploration can go a long way toward ensuring a stable/functional future for the organization, so I'm interested in some forward looking conversations that can flourish for a while before being pulled back down into today's reality.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Nov. 15, 2011

I suppose another problem I have wrapping my head around the idea is Japanese businesses' tendencies for xenophobic behavior, especially with technically-amateur organizations(ie: those without business licenses/prior experience in these sorts of endeavors), which would further complicate matters, though having someone on the ground there was the issue I was mostly referring to.

Don't get me wrong, I think the idea itself would be fantastic, but... I suppose I cling to the pessimistic side of realism.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Arupaeo - Nov. 15, 2011

LOL. I think its your avatar. Choose something that is generally more easy to open and then the world is your oyster! Wink

There are cultural differences in every international transaction, but business does get done. you certainly have a point about "amateur" organizations, but only inasmuch as the WBO hasn't struck a manufacturing business deal before (to the best of my knowledge).

Aside from that, we are a professional organization that has members, has a staff, collects revenue, sells services, holds events all over the world, and engages in IT-related contracts.

We are the real deal! We can do anything any other organization can do - its just that we haven't done so yet.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Nov. 15, 2011

Octopi are perfectly open to the world! The Veined Octopus just knows what's good for it and has a backup plan for predators and salesmen.

I used the word technically for a reason, obviously - I'm aware that the things the WBO does and the way the WBO does them constitute a professional organization, I'm just not certain any of our current credentials mean a hill of beans for this kind of contract negotiation. Like walking into an Engineering job interview with a degree in Computer Sciences.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Arupaeo - Nov. 15, 2011

No worries. I'm not trying to contradict you, I'm trying to get you fired up for the possibilities of new frontiers for the organization!

usually starts in China! Rimshot

Which is where we can go, one step at a time, if we see the benefit and have the will to do so.

RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Nov. 16, 2011

Mmm. If we could it would be fantastic, although IIRC none of the committee see the WBO as a business of any sort.

However, the bigger issue would be that they already have a license with Hasbro, and as we'd end up competing directly with Hasbro for stadium sales, I sincerely doubt either would agree to this.

That said, I have little experience or interest in business deals or contract law. Speechless

RE: Make your suggestions! - Uwik - Nov. 16, 2011

TT would not do that. Sadly and truthfully, they could care less about the stadium welfare of WBO's members. They have their WBBA to deal with all the sales and marketing.

A reminder; in a way, WBBA is the mainstream major label, while we (WBO) are just the underground indie label. WBO is far too independent of TT or Hasbro to be even remotely considered. We do not adhere with their rules and regulations. Ex: age limits, the use of released beys only limited to the areas, etc.

Because we are not a profit driven organization competing with our international partners for consumers. Also, and I speak for most but not me, we are not insane.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Giga-Impact - Nov. 17, 2011

Maybe a Role-play Sub forum, or the ability to make Role-play Threads and keep them open?

RE: Make your suggestions! - Primal - Nov. 17, 2011

Role-play threads aren't allowed, IIRC. :\ Most likely never will be, either.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Kai-V - Nov. 17, 2011

You really need a mature crowd to do role plays. Almost all of the roleplays in Beyblade I have seen in the latest years were completely mediocre, so unless you essentially restricted it to adults, we would end up with dirt.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Nov. 17, 2011

"Dranzer dodged! Dragoon hit Dranzer no matter what! Dranzer still dodged!"

This is the kind of thing you get from Roleplay threads on forums largely populated by young children. That, and:

"Adamantium Face Naruto BD145 Coat Shuriken used Instant Kill no Jutsu!"

It was even worse than that. The site I had in mind seems to be closed right now though.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Nov. 17, 2011

I've actually been a member of numerous boards that had Roleplay sections, and even the ones with older audiences(16~ minimum, 19-20 average) turned into cesspools. It's really just an inevitability.

Roleplays are best left to amateur forums and IRC/AIM chat rooms.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Ga' - Nov. 17, 2011

I find the idea of ASB on Serebii.net forums to be an efficient method of role-play. You could possibly try something similar with beyblade, due to the similarities in commands (of course, w/o moves lol). You could also have designated DJs who read the rules and are determined by the committee to roleplay the battles. They have to follow a set of rules and everything, it works quite well.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Arupaeo - Nov. 17, 2011

I had a buddy in high school who was unable to let a roleplay happen without trying to force aliens into the picture. It doesn't take much to derail these things.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Nov. 17, 2011

Being that Serebii forums are a cesspool nearly without equal, or at least were last time I checked, I highly doubt employing any of their methods for anything would be beneficial. I am repulsed by that community to the point of refusing to go visit it to see what "ASB" system you're even talking about.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Kai-V - Nov. 17, 2011

Also, it is totally possible to make a sensible Beyblade roleplay without any fancy program. Actually, the thing is that it is better if you stay away from trying to actually act out the battles. I keep giving the same example everytime roleplaying ideas get mentioned, but look at this :

Why did you do that to me? This is honestly nauseating. You are abusing a handicapped citizen.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Ga' - Nov. 17, 2011

Chocked_2 Ok... It was just a suggestion, since it was brought up I thought it might be worth mentioning it, that's all.

W/e, not my decision anyways. Just thought I'd give some input.

It's not a bad idea at all, even if it doesn't happen on this site. I appreciate the thought.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Imperial - Nov. 20, 2011

Maybe we could have something called "Beyblade Trivia" Every now and then one of the commitee members posts there saying the date and time of the nest trivia. When this time rolls around they post a question relating to the Top-Tier list, BB numbers etc.

EX. "What is the best track to use with the Vulcan wheel?"

When the members see it they post their answer. The first 3 people to reply and give the correct answer could recieve a face booster. Then the thread could be closed in like 15 mins. It would be good to add a little more fun factor to the WBO.

One problem would be the time zones, giving some an unfair advantage but you could change the times often.

RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Nov. 20, 2011

The Committee are already busy, and the example you given is tainted because of its situational/opinion-variant content, though I do get the jist of it.

It's an okay idea, but it just seems like the kind of thing only applicable to a board with a smaller population and administrators with no lives.
