Congratulations! Story Starters - sarabscientist - May. 21, 2014

YOU MAY VOTE FOR MAXIMUM THREE ONLY - PICK WISELY!

A Wrote:You're lonely, searching through the dark, cold, endless world. You finally see some light, you run towards it. It's pink... it's covered in frosting... it's a cake? Or like everything else, is it just a lie?

B Wrote:One day, you come across an old Polaroid camera. You know, one of the ones that prints the pictures right after you take them. However, you soon find that this camera takes pictures of events before they happen at an unspecified time in the future. The camera specifically shows accidents or other tragic events, with each event occurring closer and closer to the time when the picture was taken.

C Wrote:A multilingual ex-mime from Nunavut wins the lottery and moves to Texarkana where he befriends a struggling Geico agent. Using the money from the lottery, the two open a replica of the Central Perk from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

D Wrote:She sat leaning against the door, just in case anyone would enter. Tears rolled down from her puffy eyes. She couldn't help it. Misery, loneliness, fear... They were all stalking her life. She couldn't see but she knew, someone was embracing her, the other her...

E Wrote:No, this can't be, you think as bullets spray pass you and end up hitting other people rushing toward the exit of the embassy.

F Wrote:A seemingly simple and inconsequential change to the past could completely rewrite history and result in a very different present from the one in which we live. Consider what aspects of history and today's society would be different if cows had always been purple.

G Wrote:You're one of the world's most well known chess players, and a secret chess agency invites you to an internship program. They claim to be trying to stop an evil king from destroying the world of Chearth. The agency turns out to be evil instead when you infiltrate their base after experiencing weird activity...

H Wrote:After the lethal car collision you were involved in, you chose to go backward, toward the real world instead of the light. Now you stand in the middle of the chaos of rushing medics, invisible.

I Wrote:You lost the keys to your house. Of course, you panic. As you panic, the keys drop to the floor.

J Wrote:You have found a device that allows you to go into any TV show you wish, but you are trapped in TV now. How will you spend life.

K Wrote:The wind slowly breezed against my face,i wondered why where we locked inside the walls? what is our purpose?,I think i know,I can feel it

L Wrote:You have fallen into a dark pit, and at the bottom is filled with butter. You need to get out of the hole and all you can live off of down here is the butter...

M Wrote:You've always been a loner, sometimes you think it's because your anti-social, but no; you know the truth to why you can't stand being around big crowds. With your power, it's to overwhelming to be around a lot of people, to a person, like you, with the curse to see the exact scene of the deaths of everybody your eyes lay upon.

N Wrote:Your friends have turned into frogs, and you need to find out how to save them. All you have is a shrink ray and a toilet plunger, and a zombie apocalypse is starting, so you don't have much time left...

O Wrote:You wake up one day, you remember nothing, you're in a dark room. Five heavily built security guards appear and start running towards you. They take out their weapons. You search your pockets, but you only find a safety pin.

P Wrote:You wake up on a cold stainless steel bed, you notice you're wearing a headset. You realize, up to the very moment you were born, your whole life has been controlled by a computer.

Q Wrote:You wake up in a vast empty space - that is filled with nothingness. Absolutely nothing - it is all white. You find an bottle of drugs clutched in your hand labelled "life-inducing hallucinogens". When you read the fine print, it says that your whole life was just an illusion created by these pills and that you have just recovered from the effects of the previous pill you took. You get bored of the nothingness after a while and decide to open up the bottle - only to find one last pill remaining.

RE: Vote for Story Starters - Angry Face - May. 22, 2014

Holy carp. Some of these are deep... Especially that butter pit.

RE: Vote for Story Starters - Dual - May. 22, 2014

The poll says "my two favourite story starters are...", but some voted for three?

RE: Vote for Story Starters - DRAGON KING - May. 22, 2014

The OP says the max is three, so it's probably a mistake.

RE: Vote for Story Starters - sarabscientist - May. 22, 2014

Sorry, it has been fixed now! You don't have to vote for three, you can vote for one or two but the maximum is three!

Yeah... About that...

And the entry B is essentially from a goosebumps book, should that one not be very fair?

Entry K also sounds a bit like Shingeki No Kyojin so I'll have to review their cases if they qualify for the top three.

Yeah. I think B though was supposed to be unnoticed, but even without some key details it was noticeable. I don't know what Shingeki No Kyojin is, but if K sounds like it...

I hope this isn't Help the Dude cross all over again...

RE: Vote for Story Starters - EnigmaLuce - May. 23, 2014

I didn't watch SNK but I've watched my cousin watch it before. I can still recall that episode you guys think that is somehow similar to entry K.

RE: Vote for Story Starters - DRAGON KING - May. 23, 2014

How long will the poll be up?

RE: Vote for Story Starters - sarabscientist - May. 23, 2014

The poll is up for 5 more days.

Please discontinue discussion regarding the entries, I am more than capable of handling the situation.

RE: Vote for Story Starters - RagerBlade - May. 23, 2014

Will there be a tiebreaker if there are people tied for second or third (not saying first, because of it's amazing lead)

No it's just a contest for fun.

RE: Vote for Story Starters - sarabscientist - May. 26, 2014

The poll should automatically time out sometime tomorrow! But for now, here are the leading entries:

Q with 10 votes
M with 5 votes
A with 4 votes

Now if the votes stay like this, we won't have to do a tiebreaker !

I feel so bad too, but the vote was open and the entries anonymous so there was no bias!

Hmm, for the continuation, I wanted to just use the top three entries as themes for rounds. Or, the other suggestion I had was to mix and match the themes to random participants. Anyone with other suggestions, feel free to post them here!

RE: Congratulations! Story Starters - Leone19 - May. 28, 2014

I didn't realize I placed until I just saw this, haha.

Good job to all participants and winners.

RE: Congratulations! Story Starters - Temporal - May. 29, 2014

Congrats to all participants! Looks like it was pretty fun, with a solid turnout.

Well, that just means you have the best story starter this time around. I can see how ya feel bad, starting the topic and winning, but hey, take the win gladly.

Now, had I entered, I think I woulda beat ya, but oh well... Wink
