~~~~~MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF~~~~~
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Hey guys! I haven't made a combination thread in like a month and a half... Um... Awkward. XD
Well, I spent a great deal of time and thought on this one, so I hope you like it!
The Concept:
I've always loved Balro Attack/Stamina hybrids, and I've been looking for a way to "perfect" the concept. My first go was, as most of you know, Balro Balro W145WSF. I started from the well-known MSF-H Balro Balro TR145MF. I wanted something with higher overall Stamina, and I was able to produce a combo that performed slightly better in that respect, but I sacrificed far too much recoil reduction and controllability in the process. It was very difficult to KO with before I had practiced for a while, and even then its results against Attack were absolutely horrendous.
That said, while I really liked Balro Balro W145WSF, I thought we could do better. So, I began trying different setups. I eventually came down to this. This custom benefits from heavier weight, wider, lower weight distribution, and higher balance than the other variants. I wanted to get a stall time at least slightly better than MSF-H Balro Balro TR145MF, while still maintaining low recoil. This combo got about a 20 second increase in solo-spin time, and as I'm very happy to say, noticeably lower recoil than the original variant. It's also WAY easier to use than the TR145MF/W145WSF variants. It's weight (distribution) allows it to maintain a flower pattern after a sliding shot for up to twice as long as the TR145 variant, and... Well... The W145WSF variant could only ever keep it up for a lap or two, so it's definitely a step forward in that direction. On top of that, even with its excellent ability to maintain a flower pattern for an extended period of time, it is still extremely easy to tornado stall with without going into an oval sort of movement (which TR145MF had trouble with when I tested it).
This combo can KO Stamina incredibly easily, out-spin Defense easily (and actually land quite a few legitimate KOs on E230 Defense), and, surprisingly, evade and counter Attack types' movements with unbelievable efficiency, thanks to MF's quick acceleration, smooth movement, and the combo's extremely heavy weight (Balro being the heaviest Chrome Wheel after Wyvang, this combo is actually almost the exact weight of MSF-H Revizer Revizer BD145RDF, perhaps lighter or heavier by a couple tenths of a gram).
To sum it up, I do believe we have found the ultimate Balro Attack/Stamina hybrid. Plus, if my testing is correct (which has yet to be seen; that's where you guys come in), this combination can counter Attack types relatively consistently, which basically makes it a multi-purpose Balance type capable of handling almost anything.
Parts Choice:
MSF-L: To gain the effect I wanted against Attack types and semi-aggressive Balance types (which was probably the biggest drawback with Balro Balro W145WSF), I needed weight to lower recoil. However, MSF-H absolutely killed this custom's stall time. It cut it down by a full minute. So, that said, I went with this, and it seems to work very nicely. Doesn't hurt the combo's Stamina, and yet provides lower recoil, and perhaps even improved balance.
Balro: Weight, smash, and a great, smooth stall. Balro is the crux of this combination. It has quite low recoil for an Attack wheel, and, though its balance is a little off like most Synchromes, it can be balanced nearly perfectly using BD145 and an MSF-L. It has strong, consistent smash, and a solo spin time of over three and a half minutes on this custom. Balro is definitely the Chrome Wheel to use on this combination (it was the whole point, actually. The entire design was built around it. XD)
BD145: Heavy weight, very well distributed for this custom's balance, and a lower center of gravity... That's actually pretty much it.
MF: Oh yah, here we go. MF is an all around amazing Bottom. It has unbelievable Stamina, a great movement pattern, and high attack power that can be utilized in most any Balance-type custom. It's easy to get it to do what you want, when you want, whether it be by switching a part or two or using a specific launch technique. It's an all-around extremely versatile Bottom, and this combo could not work without it.
The Launch:
This custom can be several different things. A Stamina type, an Attack type, and, when you need it, a relatively effective Defense type. That said, you obviously want to stall against Defense (or any rubber-tipped combination that isn't aggressive), and sliding shoot against Stamina.
Against aggressive combinations, if it isn't another tornado staller, typically you're going to want to bank. The goal is to evade the opponent, but, even if they do make contact with your Beyblade, this custom's low recoil and the speed/momentum you have going will probably be able to keep you inside the stadium the slight majority of the time.
OK, this right here is kind of unbelievable. Like, seriously, shame on you if you believed it as soon as you saw it. This was a combination of low recoil, and the ability to re-accelerate almost instantly following contact. Rubber Attack bottoms take a split second to begin moving again after hitting/taking a hit. MF, however, has the advantage of being able to begin moving at full speed almost immediately. With a solid center of gravity, good balance, heavy weight, and overall low recoil, this can allow a custom using it to repeatedly evade/outrun the opposing attacker after the first hit, or simply repeatedly move in and prevent the attacker from taking back its grip and getting a good movement pattern going again. One of the first combos I ever tested, Girago Girago SA165MF, possessed this same quality, and was able to completely nullify Diablo Anti-Attack.
However, we aren't talking about Diablo here. This is Wyvang. IF YOU DO ANY TESTING ON THIS COMBO, THIS IS THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO. This here is really what sets this custom apart as an exceptional Balance type.
Oh my gosh... Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh... OK, lemme clarify something here. I tried as carping hard as I could to get Dragooon to land some KOs on Balro. I managed to land two KOs right on the tornado ridge after practically ripping my arm off launching Dragooon, but aside from that Balro held its own extremely well. It was the same thing as with Wyvang. MF's movement pattern kept it on the run and stopped Dragooon dead in its tracks after the first hit. The OSes were surprising too (well, slightly. BD145MF has been used before on L-Drago/Dragooon combos, and now I can see why), but it did actually happen. I tried switching to another R2F to see if it was something wrong with Dragooon's Bottom, but Balro won by even more!
I need confirmation for these guys. GIT OUT YER WYVANGS AND START TESTING!
Have I mentioned yet that my Duo is particularly hard to KO? I can hit 100% with something on a different Duo, then turn around to this one and only hit 60. This was also partially the product of dozens of wall saves (I seem to be getting more then usual today). Regardless, Balro still won by a lot. This was astoundingly easy to control. I'm very happy with how easy it is to handle this combo.
These two out-spins were crazy. Balro just hit the thing so dang hard that, after several wall saves, Duo just coughed out a couple wobbly rotations and fell to the ground. This combo has great upper smash and destabilization properties if you happen to need them.
OSes were just billions of wall saves leading up to Genbull taking a faceplant while Balro spun around at nearly full speed.
Well, other you have it. No surprise here. It's Balro on MF. XD
This here was interesting. I was able to get quite a few KOs if I was able to launch just so, but overall Balro had some trouble. There were also repetitive wall saves going on during the entire match, but I doubt you could hit higher than 55-60% with this. Balro has never had a good track record against Dragooon.
So... This pretty much wrecks stamina (besides select Dragooon customs, apparently). Quite impressive! Great Attack application/controllability are probably two of this combo's biggest advantages.
Darn. That would've been the cherry on top. XD If the user launches Dragooon properly (weak launch while banking, the proper launch against all aggressive customs), you will most likely lose. Balro just didn't have quite enough speed to land the KO with Dragooon having weak launched.
Overall, I'd say this custom is extremely effective, and, as testing hopefully confirms, top-tier worthy. The versatility is just insane! I'm gonna be using this a lot from now on.
HUGE props to Ingulit for his Beytest app. The thing is totally off the hook. It makes this all sooooo much easier.
Thanks for reading guys! TEST STUFF!
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - Tri - Jan. 18, 2014
This sure seems like an interesting combo. Once I get my Attack & Balance DX set, I'll be sure to try this out.
I actually would've figured this could defeat Wyvang Dragooon BD145RDF. I figured it'd have enough stall time to OS, but I guess not :\.
carp, just remembered my Metal Flat has been missing for like months . I guess I will have to get another one of them as well.
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - [)ragon - Jan. 18, 2014
LOL, trust me, it'll be more than worth it.
I'd be really confident going into a tournament with this combo. It covers quite a range of the meta (as long as your region isn't absurdly Dragooon heavy, which is unfortunately the case where I am XD).
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - Ocean - Jan. 18, 2014
Hey, could you test against that combo I came up with to beat Bahamida Dragooon BD145R2F (Revizer Genbull E230 (boost) GCF)? You made this so you could make a tornado staller thread before me, didn't you? XD
EDIT: Can you also test against Dragooon BD145GF?
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - Cake - Jan. 19, 2014
Impressive results! I don't have a second Wyvang, so I can't do Wyvang^2 Attack testing, but I'll try a few other things. My Balros don't like each other much though, iirc they got horrendous solo times. I'll have to check again.
You might have to flip BD145 around and see if it balanced out. That's what I did a couple times, and it worked.
If you have Dragoon and SA165, do testing against Wyvang Dragooon SA165R2F! That's just as important.
Well, LTSC aren't exactly the most competitive type of combination in the Standard format setting.
I can definitely do those Phantom staller tests, though. I'll have 'em up later tonight!
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - DrPepsidew - Jan. 23, 2014
Seems like it would definitely beat Phantom MF ._.
I apologize for my launch, I'll tone it down the next time I beat you ;D
Just kidding, but I really like the way this combo feels. There's just something about it 0-0
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - [)ragon - Jan. 23, 2014
Well, that's the thing. If you can get a good hit on it, you'll win just about every time, IF your opponent doesn't get saved by the wall, which happened at an unusually frequent rate during these tests.
Again, if anybody can try to reproduce these Attack results, try! That's the most crucial testing to be done at the moment.
Just a note guys, I'm busy ATM so I can't post formal tests, buy I tried this thing against Genbull Genbull E230MB and it was something like 5 KO and 2 OS to 0 in favor of Balro.
Genbull^2 honestly isn't much better than Girago Genbull on E230M for pure Stamina TBH. It was impossible to tell which one Balro out-spun by more.
Guess your launch was just way too hard Pepsi. I shoulda flippin' banked!! AAAARRGGHHH!
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - Kevo - Jan. 26, 2014
Haha I remember using this combo ages ago when I really started to like the Balro Balro BD145 setup. Unfortunately I didnt really get around to testing this combo much because my BD145's are really loose on MF. :\
RE: MSF-L Balro Balro BD145MF - [)ragon - Jan. 27, 2014
Really? You liked it, huh? Awesome! It would be kinda cool if you could give us some commentary, y'know, to get multiple peoples' perspective.
Is anybody able to do Benchmarked Attack tests with Wyvang ___145/Wyvang Dragooon SA165? That would be utterly amazing ATM. Relatively high-recoil wheels on MF usually can't take that stuff down. XD
Ah, the SA165 variant did.
Balro has high angular recoil, meaning that it's far easier to KO if you're higher/lower than it. I tested against SA165 and it did, indeed, get trashed, but the far more prevalent 145-height variants aren't so effective.
Is anybody able to do Benchmarked Attack tests with Wyvang ___145/Wyvang Dragooon SA165? That would be utterly amazing ATM. Relatively high-recoil wheels on MF usually can't take that stuff down. XD Well I'll see what I can do since my MF tends to fly off my BD145's. XD Its difficult for me to use this combo.
