Face Contest: Design a Plastic Beyblade! - Results - Kai-V - Sep. 21, 2013
We apologise for the delay, but the results are finally in!
Plastic Beyblades are really complex, and continuing their legacy with a worthy design was a huge challenge! Fifteen Bladers took up this challenge, and a few entries stood out more than the rest.
Here are the prizes again:
The top four winners get to choose one Face Booster out of these:
Woo, a rare opportunity to get limited Face Boosters! Lucky people!
On top of that, the first-place winner gets to win one of dio's custom Beyblades! Since the Face Contest ended, this custom has concretized and we're ready to reveal which one made it as the prize! Close your eyes and...
...
That's right! A brand new, custom-made Falborg G, a creation straight out of dio's mind!
Without further waiting, here are those from the top four who win a Face Booster, so fourth- to second-place :

Here's My Entry:
...
3rd: SCARlet
(Aug. 01, 2013 2:21 AM)SCARlet Wrote: My newly created dinosaur is finally ready for battle, Nastasaurus Rex. He is the king of dinosaurs in doing al sorts of 'nasty' things. This bey is -of course- an attack type bey. Since this bey has a 3-sided AR and Base, the bey has 2 modes: smash/spike and upper mode.
1.bitbeast : Nastasaurus Rex
The bit beast is a picture of the Nastasaurus Rex, gathering strength for unleashing his deadly anger.
2. Attack Ring: Dino Crusher
This AR depicts the side view of the N-Rex -duh- including his armor and spiky tail which will both render smash and/ spike attacks. The end of its tail isn't visible from above, because it is going down -via the weight disk- into the Blade Base.
3.weight disk: Six Wavy
As the name implies, this is the first (completely) wavy weight disk. It has no "sharp" ends. It is colored in darkish red. The shape of the waves perfectly suits with the shape of the tail of the AR ring. This depicts the tail crossing the Weight Disk into the blade base.
The weight disk also has some use for smash attack.
4.Right engine gear (hole flat)
this engine gear has a plastic hole flat tip which provides good speed and smooth movement. The Engine Gear gimmick provides an additional burst of speed at a time determined by the Blade Base, and will be incontrollable in combination with most bases, however, not with all of them...
5. Blade Base: dragon tail (first clutch)
this BB depicts 3 times the tail of the Nastasaurus Rex. They form the attack 'wings'.
This Blade Base is very useful because of its 3 attack 'wings' and its rubber 'end'.
The 3-sided attack 'wings' give a addition smash attack bonus and, in combination with a 3-sided (or any other unequal number), it makes the bey have 2 modes, depending on which way you attach the AR on the bey.
The free spinning rubber ring at the bottom of the BB gives the bey a much more controlled movement and reduces the amount of recoil.
For example, when the bey hits the tornado ridge and would usually 'fall' over out of the stadium, the free spinning rubber will catch the hit and since it is free spinning, the bey won't cross the tornado ridge out of the stadium.
another example, when the bey would usually suffer a great amount of recoil and being tossed out of the stadium, the rubber will now catch the beat and leave the bey in the stadium.
modes discussion:
smash mode: the end of the tail is placed right underneath the part with the armour detail of N-Rex. When they hit an opposite bey together, they offer great smash attack.
upper mode: the end of the tail is visible from above. Cause of the shape and placement of the tail, the bey can now provide good upper attack.

Real_Tony_Stark Wrote:The fact that i'm not a superhero type..but i am Iron Man guys..I have no idea spinning tops kinda interesting, but not as interesting as building new armors of course.
Lets not waste time,i need to work on my new prototype after this. So, this is the blueprint of beyblade. (Hey, i'm not used to hand drawing since i do a lot of stuff using gadgets, softwares. But HELL!!!! Jarvis is down. Errr, i went to a website where i turned off my firewall, i think a adult website......so thats basically it is..)
Anyway, i tried my best with my hand skills until Jarvis system is recovered.
Plastics generation huh, well, after reading around, i think i know what am i'm doing.
I'm Iron Man, of course my beyblade would be Beyblade Iron Man, what else do you expect.
- Bit Beast : -
I dont need one if i can implant micro chips into my beyblade. I can control it with my mind..duh..
Attack Ring : Repulsor Armor
The power of the fist of my Iron Man suit, in the size of a finger. If you think you can handle my fist, have some... Taste like shwarma. Hulk's fist would be even scarier though (wait until my hulk buster armor complete!!)
Repulsor....it means everything for this AR,. Usable in both left and right direction. In ATTACK mode, the repulsor fist gonna punch and send you away. I mainly design it for OHKO purposes.
While in defense mode, the bald Iron Man head work as a deflector shield to deflect any unwanted, undesired so called things including the ugly Ex-Wives.
Weight Disk : Wide Defense
The best for the best. If i were to create my own weight disk, i could make use of vibranium, i can get some from Steve. But lets stay to reality. So thats it, Wide Defense
Spin Engine Gear : Dual Core Engine
As the name imply, dual core engine is an engine gear that can spin in both direction by pulling out the activation gear, inserting it on the opposite upper part of the Dual Core Engine, and re-attach the EG inverted. It spin in both direction to suit the purpose of Repulsor Fist.
Blade Base : Arc Reactor Base
You guys supposed to know it if you guys are a real fan of me. Source of life of all of my suits. Oh well, i threw away the one on my chest since Pepper insisted. But once Iron Man, i will be Iron Man forever.
This base separated by two part, upper part and lower part.
Upper part consist of the clutch mechanism to hold/ trigger the Dual Core Engine and of course to hold the the Dual Core Engine. This base will only activate the Dual Core Engine once the RPM is depleted to a certain minimum level before its dead. Not only that, the upper part will also clutched the lower part from freely spinning. If it is freely spinning, how the hell i can do the flower pattern!!! The clutch will release when the RPM is low.
Meanwhile, the lower part f the base resemblance of Wolborg 4's Circle Survivor. Works exactly like Circle Survivor, to boost the RPM before it spin off. Exactly just like Arc Reactor. It kept me alive for sometime huh.
Do you guys notice of RUBBER tip? After reading around, one most basic rule in beyblade that i can understand, RUBBER KILLS.
p/s: I purposely design the EG and Blade Base in a way so that they cant be used in any other set up. Well, if you Stark's property, you cant have it. But i declare the world peace.
(Those images only works using camera for now, Dummy spilled my beer on my scanner. Dummy as always.)
Thats all about it, now, i need to get back on my works. I have an Ultron to finish up. See you guys in Avengers 2 & 3!!!
The genius, playboy & billionaire...
Consider it as my entry please..
All your concepts were really amazing and creative, so congrats for placing! Make sure to post in this topic to let the Committee know what your Face Booster choice is, and we'll spoil your profile with one more Face soon!
Now, for the first-place winner...
Two entries battled it out for the top prize, but only one could make it. Which one, you're wondering? Well, what else than...

1st: The Boss!
(Jul. 05, 2013 9:07 PM)The Boss Wrote: [Image: 37bs.jpg]
Here is my entry! I worked very hard on this. The beyblade is named TheBoss!
Its attacks are Swag Overlord Hyperattack and Majestic Yolo Hell Flames!
His best trait is that it is awesome and will decimate every beyblade, but one time on 4 it will decide it is too awesome for this world and will self-destruct. It will also automatically lose against female players. Use with caution.
The bit beast is based after me, it is a legendary swag warrior that trained for months with Japanese monks. It roars ''LEGIT''.
HOPE I WILL WIN GUYS AND GOOD LUCK
I will win for sure though
Congratulations, dio's Falborg G will surely embellish your collection! You simply blew the competition right out of the way, wow!

THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS I AM TRULY HUMBLED! I'm picking the PURPLE face! There was many many great entries this time, but deep inside I knew I was going to win, because there was no way the judges would have missed my originality, artistry and critical thinking about plastic beyblades. I really did my best out there. It is nice to be recognized, especially after spending 20k a year on tuition fees at my art university.
THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
Bye losers,
The Boss out.

...
We're kidding! September 20th is the new April 1st!
The real top winner is Ingulit! (Jul. 14, 2013 7:09 PM)Ingulit Wrote: After literally hours upon hours of designing and modeling over the last ten days, I have finally finished my design! I 3D modeled the whole thing in Wings 3D, with all of the parts exactly matching scale (like, down to millimeters) of actual plastic gen parts. I'm really excited for how it came out!
There are bigger pictures of each part in the spoilers!
This is Allocator, my WALL-E inspired plastic generation Beyblade! All of the parts are either thematically in line with WALL-E or utilize parts of his design directly. It is a defense type Beyblade, and the plastic is a dark, rust-like color. The parts that are other colors are stickers. Now let's go over each part in detail!
The bit beast is straightforward, being a render of WALL-E himself!
The attack ring depicts four small WALL-Es with fire extinguishers flying around the perimeter of the ring! I used the pixelated WALL-E from the movie's credits as the reference for the design of the WALL-Es. The WALL-Es are supposed to be the "heads" that are commonly found on the front of the protrusions on plastic generation Beyblades. The wings formed by the extinguishers' exhaust are large, and feature three small bumps on the sides like commonly found on ARs such as Kid Draciel. The four blades overlap each other to a good degree, creating a design that is largely uninterrupted for defensive purposes. The wings create a somewhat square-ish design as well, which is thematically appropriate to both the cubic WALL-E and the design of the rest of the Beyblade.
This being a WALL-E Beyblade, nothing other than a square WD would have done the Beyblade justice; so, I created Square Attack, which is based on Star Attack, Heavy Attack, and Revolver Attack! The weight disk features the four circular bumps on the corners just like the rest of the "Attack" series, and the sides are slightly rounded like those on Star Attack.
I also added some minor detailing on the sides, adorning the weight disk with stripes like those found on WALL-E's arm. These stripes are purely decorative, seeing as they would likely not come in contact with an opposing Beyblade due to the pronounced corners.
This weight disk would be about as heavy as Star Attack. Even though Square Attack is largely an offensive piece and this is a defense-type Beyblade, this weight disk provides great weight distribution to the Beyblade as a whole, and it is somewhat hidden by the large Attack Ring.
The base has a bunch of subtle WALL-E references and includes a gimmick! The base is mostly square like the rest of the Beyblade. It accepts any standard type of spin gear, and it comes with a regular SG Right. On the top portion of the base, there are black designs on the sides where there are no clips; those are the tread marks WALL-E leaves behind! On the bottom of the base, there is a gear shape that is exactly based on the gears on WALL-E's treads. Sticking out of that gear design is the yellow rubber-ball-esque tip, which (like RB in the MFB generation) gives Grip Compactor a large degree of defense.
The really fun part of this base is the gimmick, based on WALL-E's habit of compacting things: if you turn the gear on the bottom, you can slide the bottom half of the track up and down! It locks into two heights, one where the bottom half is flush against the top half and one where the base is much taller. It provides the same degree of flexibility as CH120 and TH170 in the MFB gen. Do note that the bottom half is much wider than most height-changing parts on purpose; I had to make it that wide so that it would fit around the spin gear while it is retracted.
The base is a little smaller than Draciel F's base in radius, and it's a little shorter than that base when the bottom half is extended (and much shorter when it's retracted of course).
Goofy Combo Using Parts
One fun thing one could do with these parts is create a Weight Disk Attacker with a height-change gimmick:
AR: Cross Dragon
WD: Square Attack
SG: SG Right
BB: Grip Compactor
The corners on Square Attack reach over the beveled corners of Grip Compactor perfectly, and Cross Dragon would stay out of the way of Square Attack perfectly. While it is meant for defense, the base can be somewhat aggro due to the nature of the RB-esque tip, and the height-change gimmick would allow the blader to align the WD up with the opposing Beyblade quite well. Like all WD Attack customs, this would be more a fun casual custom rather than a competitive one.
Progress Shots
These are some screenshots I took while I was making the Beyblade, and some of them show the ideas I was toying with before I settled on this design.
This is a shot of the weight disk being made; I used the Star Attack image in the background for reference.
This is my first idea for the attack ring, where it had a sub-AR based on one of WALL-E's gears. I ended up scrapping that idea for the one I ended up with.
This was the original version of the AR, but it was wayyyyy too fragile without the supports in the final version.
I am so, so happy to have finally gotten this done (even though it was a ton of fun to make)! I've literally spent HOURS (maybe even days lol) on this, and I'm thrilled to have it complete. I hope you all like it!!
Your concept was very ingenious, respected plastic Beyblades' philosophy and physionomy, and offered a system that was realistic too!
Send me your shipping address as soon as possible to claim your prize.
Watch out for a new Face Contest soon~

I'm sad The Boss didn't win for real, but it's nice to see Ingulit's design win, definitely one of my favourite designs from the competition. Congrats to all the winners, all of those designs look really great, and I think they all captured the plastics aesthetic excellently.
Shame I couldn't find time to enter even with Ingulit pointing me to that lovely 3D modelling program he used, but maybe next time, haha, doubt I would've made anything anywhere near as good as these anyway, though, hah.
