You're a Pokémon trainer; residing in the Wubbo region. Today is your first day training. Naturally, one would be very excited. You rushed to get dressed and gobbled your breakfast. You then waved goodbye to your mom.

"Ah, my little kid. Growing up so fast. Now he's going on his very first journey!"

Out of the corner of your eye, you see your mom holding back tears. To spare the drama, you rush out the door and run towards the Pokémon lab. After all, what’s a Pokémon adventure without a Pokémon!?

You burst through the door with sheer excitement. Off in the corner, professor Khaaizvel motioned for you to come over.

Behind him was a table with three bright poke balls. They were glistening under the bright ceiling lights.

"Now, you have three choices! Pick wisely my friend."

Your hand hovers over the three balls. Each one had a different sense to it. You close your eyes as you visualize your future adventures with one of these Pokémon. Then after much thought, you came to a conclusion. You were going to pick:

• The Fire Type ; Charmander
  
• The Water Type ; Squirtle
  
• The Grass Type ; Bulbasaur
  
  

as your partner.

"Ah, very nice choice!"

You hear a clicking sound and the poke ball opens. Out comes your new Pokémon. It blinks its eyes and looks around. In comparison to its small and dark poke ball, the bright lab was a lot to take in.

"Aww, so cute!"

You start petting it and playing with it.

"Cute indeed. But remember, you are going on a journey to become the best!"

"Like no one ever was!"

"Precisely. Now, if you'd pay attention to my little tips to help you on your journey."

The professor rambled on. You tuned out his voice as you fiddled with the poke ball.

"...and the fire types."

His never ending lecture was droning on. You started to fiddle with the button.

"OMG NIXO!"

Out of shock, the poke ball was dropped from your hands. It shattered into a few pieces. You looked sheepishly at the professor, who seemed as if he was going to explode any second.

"Uhh, I can fix that. You got some tape?"

“You fool! You see what you have done? Now your Pokémon will have to stay outside of its poke ball as there are no replacement ones!"

Walking along side his Pokémon? Sounded like a great idea!

"Sorry dude, but I guess I'm just going to go now..."

"No wait! Take this with you."

He holds out a small red device and gives it to you.

"Huh, what is this?"

"It’s a pokedex. It will help me research Pokémon. The more you encounter, the more complete it gets!"

"Oh, that sounds fun. So...how many do you have on here?"

"None."

"So, you're a Pokémon researcher who has been studying Pokémon all his life yet your Pokémon encyclopedia is empty? My mind is blown..."

"Just shut up and get out!"

He shoves you out the door. Your Pokémon follows behind. You breathe deeply and look out ahead. With your trusty Pokémon at your side, there was no such thing as defeat!

"So this is a Pokémon journey, huh?"
