RE: Questions about the WBO - RobedRebel - Jul. 21, 2017 What does it mean when it says retired above a post? (Sorry if this question has already been asked.) (Sorry if this question has already been asked.) No... I'm not even sure where this rumor that hosts must be thirteen years old even started, since the official Organizer's Guide says nothing of the sort, but I'd really like to squash it before it gets even more out of hand. Historically, there have been plenty of successful tournaments hosted by members who were younger than thirteen at the time. (Sorry if this question has already been asked.) If you check "Become an Organizer" section, its mentioned there a host must be agleasts 13 years old before hosting. Though I doubt that would he a problem as there's always be 1 Committee-Approved Main Host in charge so a younger 2nd host helping out shouldn't be an issue IMO. Historically, there have been plenty of successful tournaments hosted by members who were younger than thirteen at the time. Thanks for answering my question. I was thinking about starting a tournament, and I wanted to know the age limit wasn't a problem,(mostly because it was likely that I would need another host, since this would be my first time hosting or attending.) Glad that I got it all cleared up now. RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Jul. 22, 2017 Why can't I see "Schedule a Event" button (not fourm) in WBO Tournaments? Was it removed or just I can't see due to some bug? RE: Questions about the WBO - ~Mana~ - Jul. 22, 2017 It's displaying properly, and Organisers can indeed see it. Are you sure you didn't just miss it? RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Jul. 22, 2017 (Jul. 22, 2017 8:38 AM)~Mana~ Wrote: It's displaying properly, and Organisers can indeed see it. Are you sure you didn't just miss it? Yes I didn't missed lol. Seems lik button missed me lol RE: Questions about the WBO - ~Mana~ - Jul. 22, 2017 Oh, you mean the actual button to make the thread. We made changes this week regarding the tournament structure. Non-Organisers can no longer propose events without having cleared the Organiser's Quiz, and Organisers must have their event proposal approved before a thread is permitted in the Tournaments board. Obviously proposals have always been mandatory, but we've had an increase in Organisers directly creating events without proposals, which is why we've made these changes. Basically, you aren't supposed to see the button anymore. I can see you've made a proposal though, so I'll authorise that asap. But this is how we're handling this going forward. RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Aug. 01, 2017 Why was Advance Members user group was removed? And by any chance it will be back? Genbu BD!Spoiler (Click to View) RE: Questions about the WBO - ~Mana~ - Aug. 01, 2017 It was removed in our relaunch last December, and we gave our reasons for it in our news post then. As for whether it'll return; right now, we have no plans to do so, but that's not to say it never will, haha. RE: Questions about the WBO - boigamer25 - Aug. 01, 2017 How so I make a tournament? And can it be any type of beyblade style like metal saga? RE: Questions about the WBO - Mage - Aug. 01, 2017 (Aug. 01, 2017 10:46 PM)boigamer25 Wrote: How so I make a tournament? And can it be any type of beyblade style like metal saga? In order to make a tournament you must be an Organizer, to be one you must be at least 13 years old and you have to take the Organizer's quiz. If you pass they ur profile will gain a purple bar that marks you as an Organizer and from there you can propose a tournament with at least 8 confirmed participants to the committee. If you fall short of the number of participants then the tournament will become Club Format. You also must be responsible for recording ur observations of the tournament and the results, a report and spreadsheet are required. Well it does say that one must be at least 13 years of age to become an Organizer RE: Questions about the WBO - Red Eye - Aug. 02, 2017 Hey why can't I take the organizers quiz what do I have to do in Oder to be eligible RE: Questions about the WBO - Beylon - Aug. 02, 2017 (Aug. 02, 2017 12:58 AM)Mage Wrote:(Aug. 01, 2017 11:03 PM)Beylon Wrote: Again with the 13 years old? Wait... Where does it say this? And what is "it"? The Organizer's Guide does NOT say that. You do NOT have to be 13 years old to host a WBO tournament. WBO tournaments are ALL AGES and this applies equally to organizers. Am I going crazy here?! Waaaargh!!!! EDIT: apparently I am. RE: Questions about the WBO - ~Mana~ - Aug. 02, 2017 Technically, it does say it here, and I'd imagine it's in place because of the responsibilities of the Organiser. Between having a PayPal account, being able to host/manage an event and then submit the paperwork afterwards, it seems like it'd be a tad overwhelming for some ages, though I'd like to think we'd make exceptions to the rule if we knew that the user could handle the responsibilities anyway. @[Kei] @[Kai-V] Was this in place prior to December's relaunch? Surely it should be written in our Organiser's Guide somewhere as well if we actually have this in place? As for eligibility; the option to take the quiz won't appear until you have 50 posts, and that doesn't mean you can just make pointless spam posts either. We do watch out for those, and it would leave a bad impression as well... RE: Questions about the WBO - Beylon - Aug. 02, 2017 Fair cop. I vote that rule be scrapped. RE: Questions about the WBO - Kai-V - Aug. 02, 2017 It was definitely Brad that introduced that notion, I believe. We did not have that rule before. Someone recently mentioned, on this subject, how there had been "many" examples of great Organizers under the age of thirteen before, which made this rule ridiculous according to them, but really, who is included in that "many"? I can barely think of anyone at all. UltimateOrion might have been young when he started hosting, but he made and encountered several issues too, so unfortunately it does not make for a good example. Personally, we may have unconsciously made that 'discrimination' before anyway, because I think that the quality of the posts will display whether someone is mature or not and I have no problem taking subjective decisions like that without an actual rule supporting me, because any sort of job involves facing discretionary judgement, especially when involving trust. So, yes, the rule may seem unfair when published clearly like that, but I cannot remember many <13-years-old Organizers anyway and 'young' Members may have ruled themselves out in the past anyway. I guess younger members naturally ruling themselves out by the quality (or lack thereof) of their posts rather than their age is the difference between that and age-discrimination. I see your point, and you're probablly right that it won't make any practical difference. I suppose I just remember being 12 years old and annoyed that I was sometimes overlooked simply for my age. In Australia, 12 year olds typically attend secondary school - which means they're writing essays before they're 13. Plus, how do primary school kids organise tournaments if there's no secondary school nearby? This is pretty much a normal scenario in Australia, everything being so spread out. |
